Twenty five names and not a woman in sight. You guys must have never seen a day of horny jail. I'm in here playing harmonica and scratching lines on the wall.

My Dad
My uncle JD
Maternal Grandfather
Paternal Grandmother
My father in law

They all have things that happened in their past, that they never outwardly talked about, but were always omnipresent in their lives (wars, prison, the Great Depression, immigration, etc). As a white American, I really don’t know what my family’s history is. I’m not entirely sure of where everyone came from. Feel like these conversations would really bring to life who I am and I could pass that down to my kids. 3/5 are deceased.

Cool thread.

Good answer.  8)

Are these 1:1 coffee/pie meetings or are we meeting up as a big group?

Assuming this is a big group meeting:
David Garland (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_W._Garland)
Noam Chomsky
Ezra Klien
Peter Kropotkin
George Orwell

or it'd be interesting to meet 5 random avg people from different eras (assuming we could all magically speak contemporary English or understand one another).

We would play chess and drink lemonade. And my dad would be wondering who these people are and why we play chess and drink lemonade.

This would be a 5 person all at once discussing their careers and ad-libbing how they've influenced you.

Sarah Millican
Diane Spencer (the standup not the princess)
Jackie Kashian (the American Sarah Millican?)
Douglas Adams
Aisling Bea

Across-the-pond comedy edition! Put them at a corner booth and let them cook. The one-liners would fly. I wouldn't have to say a whole lot; just have a good time and throw in a comment every once in awhile. Maybe they'd enjoy the tour of my favorite Midwest pie-and-coffee joints. Wild card: Dylan Moran.
