Title: 1-18-08

Dunno if anyones seen the trailer, it came with the Transformers movie earlier this summer.

So far, they havnt released what the "monster" is supposed to be.

However, it is 100% not a Godzilla remake, because Paramount does not own the rights to the Godzilla Franchise and the next Godzilla film will be in 2013.

Thoughts on what its gonna be though?

speculation around the net is the monster is similiar to a kracken, but like everything online its most likely bullshit.

I hope they keep the name Cloverfield.  It sounds alot better than any of the other supposed names they've thought of.  I also read that the big monster isn't the only one.  Theres also going to be small, raptor like monsters on the ground.  I'm not sure if I'm going to go see it or not yet, I'm waiting on a more official trailer first.  A concept like this can either be great or horrible.  I'm hoping its good though.

"A friend if mine who
was [relation to the film deleted by editor] told me
there's thousands upon thousands of "parasites" on the big monster
that leap off and attack everything in sight after it's been hit by
some tank shells.

Supposedly they are sort of "Alien" looking with five
or six claw like legs.

PS - the movie is (sort of) a modern day version of "The Beast
from 20,000 Fathoms " . Which if you ever seen it was about a giant
monster attacking NYC."

Hmm lets see....

handheld camera, check
crazy special effects, check
big monster in nyc, check
massive hype, check
good marketing scheme, check

errr blair witch all over again, only this time they added the godzilla idea made back in the late 90s where in the trailers they didn't show what godzilla actually looked like....

So basically I have already seen this movie?

that kind of sounds like one of the monsters in that probably shitty movie/stephen king novel  "the mist". so maybe that's where that rumor sprang from.

Quote from: Wikipedia
A colossal behemoth with six legs. Other than the legs, with hundreds of the "bugs" attached to them, this creature is unseen. Although the creature's exact size is never specified, David gets the impression that its size would make a blue whale resemble a trout if both were posed together, and its weight is sufficient to leave six-foot-deep footprints in solid concrete.

I guess this movie was suppose to be so top secret, that the actors trying out for the movie werent even given the script. They were givin scripts from already aired lost episodes, and he based his decision off of that.

I also got into an argument with a friend who swears that this is the new power rangers movie. I just can't believe it tohugh. He gave me this too.

my uncle was the executive producer for the show "The Black Donneleys" and the youngest brother on the show "sean" is the main character in this movie "rob"

they wern't given scripts, like you said ah lee, and my uncle couldnt even pry any info off of this actor, as pestering as i was to him

Agreed man.... the short story was both absurd and scary (and I mean absurd in a good way... no explanation, just craziness).

Quick Silver Screen has a cam copy up... I haven't watched it, but I might later on (I'm not real inclined to rent it and I'm not going to the theater for it):
http://quicksilverscreen.com/watch?video=17270

King's stories very rarely turn into good movies... Misery was excellent, Stand by Me was near perfect for the time it came out, and I'd even say Running Man was decent (though not as good as the story). But beyond that, his stories are usually made into shit.

One weird one was the made for TV Langoliers... it followed the story down to the very last detail (if you had read it, you could have just roleplayed any character in the movie), but the production was so bad that it was ruined.

Oh of course... The Shining was a near perfect movie (imho).
But you know how movies are never as good as the books? I think that's more enhanced with King's stuff... especially when it's a short story drawn out into a full length movie (Stand by Me being a huge exception).

Some cinemas chose to have the first showing around 10:00pm the day before...I think as long as it ends after midnight, they're straight. I saw all the new Star Wars movies that way and most recently I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3 on Thursday, May 24th at 10:00pm when it wasn't released until Friday the 25th.
