Whats up with simple shoes? Are they back or what? Grim or Mike Fork, fill us in please.
-
Not really sure what the deal is... I was given a couple of pair via TL, but I don't know if they're going to try to start a skate program again. I have two pair of the "Sno Tire" low tops, and they're pretty good. I'm betting that they just stick with the whole eco friendly thing they're into.
-
I remember when they used to have those at Costco. My friends dad got a pair then ate a hotdog. He started choking and had a panic attack which he mistaked for a heart attack so the paramedics came. He calls them "panic dogs" now but stills enjoys them.

Yup, he did, and I wrote his resignation letter to them when he found out they were starting to make every kind of shoe under the sun.

I rode for them back then cause the dude Eric who ran it was cool, but yeah they sucked.
I spent hours trying to make them skateable.
PS. I filmed that Gino Avatar, hella ghetto I might add.

Socal Jamie saying "hella" is rad.
and did you make any money off of that clip or were you just filming for someone?
-
Nah, I don't think I've ever been paid for a clip.
I was just there and dude was trying it, so I said anybody got a camera?
Next thing I knew Gino was fakie nose manualling off the big 3. It was sick and I was like damn, this Gino dude can ride.
I talked about seeing him skate that week for years.
-
i wish i was there. born at the wrong time. gino rips

You filmed the b/s heel? crazy. Me and my friends have debated whether that truly was a make for years.

i remember I was really excited when these came out when I was a kid, so I ordered a pair right when they came out. They fell apart in about 4 days. My mom was pissed.

hey Jamie, remember when you used to come to those po-dunk skate contests at Warehouse Skates in Columbus, Ga. back in the early 90s?
You were riding a Real Hanging Klansman or maybe a Sanch Crayon Kid deck.
Impossibles with your eyes closed?
Remember?
That was awesome.

(http://www.simpleshoes.com/images/products/AllColorCombos/2050-SAN-PROD.jpg) i had these once, and yes they sucked

I had them too in Navy blue, they were my first skate shoes, and I noticed all the "rowers" in my area wore them.
-
That's too bad that they suck, the idea behind them is really cool.

Thanks dude, I seemed to remember me being an arrogant little puke, but yeah those contests were fun. James Cruz had the sickest style on the mini.
Here's a photo of me from those days. I know you're feeling the striped shorts.

Gest, what's with the 7th grade sk8 shorthand?
Let me see if I can find something else that makes me look like a kook.

Here's one of the lamest ones I could find.

It's not only a bennihanna, but it's a bad one. I look like I'm taking a crap in me pants.
The kid asked me to sign it the next year and all I could write was, I SUCK!

Hell yeah! I was at that contest. Didn't enter that one but later on i'd get up the nerve to enter some of them.
Saw James Cruz working at Target a few years back. That dude was sick. Alva and New School decks went like hot cakes because of him.
That's Jon Holland's plastic bench there on the right next to that quarter. He used to drive that thing around in the back of his ride to every spot. I learned 5-0s on that thing.
Ahh, the good old days.
You ever skate Auburn U., Jamie? There are some untapped spots there. You could film a whole part in that area. ;)
-
Dang, I didn't know Johnny five was there.
I only skated Auburn when I was a little kid. Thanks for the tip, but I'm having a hard enough time filming a whole part skating everywhere.
-
i was going to get a hookup with simple through alex goldberg, but that never worked out...
i wonder what happened to that kid. anyone know?

I think I met him once, didn't he talk a lot?
-
yes. he was the kid rocco put a bounty on his head for $500 (or something like that) in an early issue of big brother.
the kid pissed off a lot of people in the industry and totally got blackballed.
-
I would be cool if gershon still rode for them.

I think he's working at Sega or something testing video games, making 70k a year and shit. I talked to him 2 years ago. I used to ride for simple WAYYYYYYyy back in the day. I would get like 6 pairs of shoes a month!!!! And I was just flow. I actually took a road trip with Alex to San Jose and YES he did talk alot, and he wore dockers. He was alright I guess, but he did piss off a lot of industry people.
