Basically he went from making about a 120,000 dollars a year through element and other sponsors to next nothing in a little less than a few months. From that point he started blowing it and drinking all day and now from what I understand is going through a really rough divorce because of said drinking. Creation decided to steps in and attempted to sponsor the guy and even plan a tour revolving around coming to see him in Maryland and along the East Coast. During both demos planned in Maryland Jake shows up incoherently drunk to the point where he can barely stand and instead of skating walks around shaking peoples hands. Needless to say he got the kick from Creation shortly after that. Jake is still one of the genuinely nicest guys I have ever met and can still fakie tre flip higher than most people can ollie. I still see him quite often in around Baltimore at the shop I ride for. However instead of skating when I see him he is brown bagging it. Shit's sad.

Damn this is the first thread of the day I read and that is depressing, alcoholism sucks and it happens to good people a lot, so sad I hope he pulls through.

I had no idea his situation was that bad. Hope he cleans himself up and starts skating again, definitely a one-of-a-kind skater. His part in the first static is legendary and based on that alone the dude deserves another chance.
Reading this makes me hate Element even more than I already do, from what I understand they made him quit I-Path to ride for Smellement Footwear and then booted him off a couple months later. Fuck that company.

Rupp has un matchable style and has done stuff no one else will ever step to... rails included. like the big kinker off Van Ness at some govt building.. no ever touched it but Rupp handled it like 9 years ago(spread in old Big Brother)... gotta be there for a brother in hard times!!

Man, thats such bad news, when ever I saw him skate, he was on some next level shit. Never seen style and pop like his and I've been skating a while.
I went to Jamaica with Satori and Jake was on a mission there, also showed him around Vancouver a few times so I got to know him pretty well, and out of all the pro skaters I've met he was the one of the nicest by far.
Meanwhile, Guiles here doing what he does, the same guy who hates Kareem and loves T-furgs face, you just have to ignore this guy, he just gets his kicks out of arguing while hiding behind a screen.

I have known Jake since he was 8 years old. he is one of the most gifted skaters I have ever seen, with an amazing style. I have seen him drink a good portion of the last few years away. It bums me out so much when I hear about this. I haven't seen Jake in quite some time, but from the stories I hear it's been getting worse.
