SKF is a top notch bearing company out of sweden. they've been around forever and now started a skate bearing line.
http://www.skfskate.com/ (http://www.skfskate.com/)
has anybody tried these yet?
-
they invented the bearing and this isn't new...
-
they invented the bearing
there is no they in sven wingquist fucktard. he did not invent the bearing. just a specific kind of ball bearing. bearings have been around for longer than you think smartass.
this isn't new...
sure they've only been around since the early 1900s but, they only started marketing "skate" bearings here in the states since this summer. the reason why i would ask is because they are being sold at the local shop and i wanted some feedback.
-
I don't want to go out on a limb here, but my guess is they roll.
-

fucking obvious. if you* dont have anything decent to post then shut the fuck up. fucking idiots
-
hah
-
Sorry for the attitude, but I guess my point was that I don't think there is a big or noticeable difference between bearings of different companies.
-
everyone knows rodney mullen invented the bearing

Is it really that hard to figure out that I meant "They" as in the company?
And they did invent this kind of bearing, sorry, but I skate, I only know about that kind of bearing...
And you said "and now started a skate bearing line." which is wrong on two points, they've been doing skate bearings for several years, and this new SKateFast thing with reynolds started last winter/spring
-
am i the only person who has never once given a shit about what bearings i had or how fast they rolled? of course if they arent rolling at all, or the balls are falling out, i might care....but otherwise I just buy the cheapest mini logo bearings and replace those every 2 months when i get new wheels. bearings are a gimmick.

he is the sole inventor of this aligning ball bearing you speak of. he invented it ages before he started skf.
And they did invent this kind of bearing, sorry
your right skf did patents for it and everything but under sven's guild. still sven's patent. so i was not wrong.
but I skate, I only know about that kind of bearing...
learn to read

i wasnt going to go into detail about any of it because this isnt the place for such nerding out.

i dont give to shits about a bearing company's lifespan in the european skate market. your probably right about them making skate bearings for a long time, but they have just been marketed in the united states as of summer 07. just stating the facts. i dont want to get into an argument with you. your just rehashing whatever crap ive been spewing not too long ago. like i said. all i wanted was some feedback. but you had to come off as the real dick here.
edit. your not being a dick. im just overreacting. thread deaded.

break me off a sleeve of deez bearings sergio!
-
I've got a set that they passed on to my local shop and I'm suprised that they are pretty damn good. Smooth and quiet. I do love the sound of Bones swiss though.

The Svenska Kullagerfabriken has nothing to do with the german Schweinfurter bearing companies!
(even SKF has a factory there!)

...its just bearings guys

i think these bearings are back and the team is stacked

Is there a point in skating anything other than reds?
Probably will try a set just because they sponsor Alexis and she deserves all the money.
-
my dad used to work there in 89 and we were able to buy our first car:

As far as inventing the bearing, I'm pretty sure the 608 bearings we use were originally taken from the rollers in vacuum cleaners. When skate companies started making wheels that could hold sealed bearings, they needed bearings that already existed, and the 608s fit. Since then, some skate companies have improved on them (Bones Swiss), but it's still essentially a vacuum cleaner bearing.
-
I don't see the point in skating anything besides Bones, but Alexis deserves all the money.

SKF headquarters is located in Gothenburg where it was founded at the original factory site. The skate bearings is made in Italy though, which is a bummer. Our local skatepark is right next to it - and is housed in SKFs old WW2 emergency factory inside a mountain.
SKF traded it with the city for a parking spot 20 odd years ago, and the park been there since. A while back the city had to demolish the parking, and SKF took back the shelter and put it out for sale. They didn't give a fuck about skating then and got very close to get the park closed for good, but with some luck another tenant of the place (it has a few smaller rooms thats rented out) bought it and let us stay, for a rent raise but something we manage to handle.
But yeah, no love from SKF then or now. Which is weird cause it would be very marketable for them being so close and all.
Fun fact - one time one employee had a BBQ down in the park after hours. There are tunnels from the park connected to the factory, and smoke got sucked trough there and caused their fire alarm to go off. Imagine the dudes face when a bunch of firemen appeared from one of the closed of tunnels ;D

Perhaps, like Quantum, they’ll be as good/better than Bones Swiss while also being cheaper. Quantum dudes knew what was missing in the skateboard market forreal
-
I thought you said ARF bearings
Maybe we could get skf a collab bandana :o
-

Anyone ever try these? They also make titanium axle nuts, king pin nuts, and hardware.

Apologies in advance if there is a thread already.

No way I’m going to have any faith at all in a sub $10 ceramic, yo’.
Just screams “replace me 15 minutes into your 1st session” to me.
If you give ‘em a try, let us know, yeah?

Thanks!
Unfortunately, some shops and a lot of skaters are a little slow to change.
We’re working hard though.

You mean THESE (the set you linked to) jawns that are going for $9.99, shipped free globally?
THESE trustworthy gems?
I urge you NOT to pay $35.99 for them.
Give your money to the Quantum doods, or Rock’n Ron instead.
EDIT: My stupid. Had I bothered clicking around I might have noticed the price listed was for a single bearing.
I’m talking out of my arse.
Apologies for no doing my due dillies in the research dept. before spouting off.
Even still, you should prolly try a set of those quantums instead.

I suspect Jan Heine of Rene Herse Cycles is lurking and waiting for the first intelligent post to respond. This will never happen.

Didn't SKF had a team not too long ago with Andrew Reynolds? I wonder what happened to that program, I mean, if it didn't worked then, why would it work now?

It was a while back pre shake junt. Used to wonder if shake junt was actually just rebranded SKF.
Used to be a SKF store near where I lived and their thing was something like they have bearings for everything. Went in once just to see if they had the skate ones and the guys working there just looked at me like an idiot for even suggesting they made skate bearings lol
-
Just what we all needed, another accessory brand.

lol I was wondering if someone would drag him into this. I know of no one more enthusiastic about SKF bearings that him.
