Title: Best Box Set
Post by: SR Junky on January 02, 2008, 01:34:35 PM
I'm thinking about buying either World or Foundation, and I still haven't even bought the girl/choco one.  Which are the best box sets?

girl or world...

World is sick, commentary on all videos, lost footy, ads, etc etc.

they're all sick to have on dvd...case you lost your vhs access like me.
- i'm psyched on the blind deal from last year...video days, tim & henry's, 20 shot bit, etc..
- about to get the world one. that should be a heavy contender.
- then zero and foundation.
- toy machine is good. got that one a few years back.
- plan b set that tony mag put out is rad to have.
i guess all of em.

toy machine is the way to go, I know I'm gonna get hated but that mid nineties slow, sloppy califorina schoolyard skating really isn't my cup of tea...however innovative it was, just hard on the eyes you know?

That would probably be huge and expensive but so worth it.

I'd pay $100 or maybe a little bit more for a Transworld box set if each video had its own case or mini-case and if it included them all.

Right now Im considering the Zero one.

They're prolly gonna have a hard time getting the music rights for that one

They have that rolling stones song in the intro  and all

plus i think those dudes don't care cuz they were claiming to rerelease memory screen like 5-6 years ago, it was in the catalog and all they just never did it

I liked the New Deal video set that came with the Andy Howell book.  The Plan B box was digitized kinda shitty so some of the night skating looks like ass.  Thrasher set is pretty good and covers a pretty wide time period compared to the others with alot of somewhat obscure Norcal heads.  Girl/Choco set is pretty dope.  FTC Trilogy is pretty good if you can find it.  Foundation one is nicely packaged and pretty good.  I don't own the Zero box so I can't say anything about that one.  I just didn't feel like paying for videos I already own just to have misled youth and thrill of it all.  Also, I already owned all the world vids on dvd thanks to ebay so I didn't feel any compunction to buy the world box either.

I fully support this. I want Mosaic but it's 30usd on dvd. I'd rather spend a hundred and get Memory Screen,TimeCode and Photosynthesis back as well.

Did they ever put out the rest of the videos (Not the New H-Street Video, Lick, Next Generation, etc.)?  I have a bootleg of these videos on dvd from ebay, but I'd still buy these.  Also, since I forgot about the Santa Cruz videos.  The older ones show how skateboarding videos were like before the Mike Ternasky method of video-making started dominating the skate video production style.  I finally realized that Nike was probably trying to go for some kind of Stacy Peralta style of video making (think an updated Ban This) for the Nothing But the Truth vid.  At least that's my take on all the skits.

From what I understand, the H-Street box set contained every H-Street video (including those you mentioned), in addition to A Soldier's Story and Now N Later. It also had something called H-Street: The Story, which I suppose is some kind of documentary.

I'm talking DVD re-release.  I'm aware of the VHS box that had all of those titles (the ebay set I bought were rips from the VHS to DVD).  The quality of the authorized DVD re-release of Shackle me not and Hokus Pokus were some of the best I've seen come from shoulder mounted VHS rocket launcher camera footage and Hi-8 digitized.  I really hope they would bring out the rest of them if they already haven't.

i'm pretty sure you could fit every AH video onto just one DVD...what's their longest video, like 20 minutes?

Girl's is pretty sick especially with the bonus disc, commentary on Mouse with Guy,Rick, Eric,Mike etc., But I'm getting the world box set, that shit is worth the price.

I know there was some talk of an Anti Hero one, but I'm thinking a "Real" box set might be a sick.

Word that -

Gonz section in Non Fiction is one of my top 5 sections - just pure street skating, getting pulled by cars, fast as fuck, super quick ollies etc

cant find it any where on the 'tube - can anyone help?

Jim T, if you're reading this (which I doubt) PLEASE re-relase Non Fiction on DVD!!!!

Yeah I remember that part being up on YT, I guess whoever had it took it off. His part is still good to watch now.
