season four premiere in 17 hours and counting... personally i'm just as hyped for this as i was for fully flared. i've never met a person who just thought lost was "ok"... everybody seems to love it or hate it.

I used to hate it, thenn I watched an episode. Now I love it. But I kinda lost interest after last season. It´s been such a long time and it´s getting all weird and complicated and they managed to send that rescue call, now the people supposed to rescue them are evil too???! Come on, I got the impression they´re just trying to mile it a little longer...I wish they for once made a move and achieved something. At least get a boat and kill all the others. OK, after typing this and thinking about the whole thing, this actually got me alittle hyped on the new season...

oh man, this is gonna be so awesome. i can't wait till tonight, i have so many questions, of course none of them will be answered, they will just be replaced by newer more intriguing questions, but still. i can't wait to see what these new other "others" are up to and what Locke has in store for us.
i never saw that trailer but apparently some will leave the island this season and some will stay, and those that left are all like, "we shouldn't have ever left" and shit. that shit is crazy. Like what are they talking about. and who the fuck is in that coffin!??? personally i think it's Ben, cuz when Jack went to the funeral parlor he said he was neither friend nor family. So who else could it be? man this is gonna be sooo good. what are some of your guy's theories about the show?
P.S. Kate doesn't die obviously, since she is the one who goes to meet Jack at the end of last season's finale after they have already gotten of the island silly's

Actually, that's because they do flash backs and flash forwards this season. It's technically a three dimensional aspect the writers are doing.
That's how they kill Evangeline Lilly, and manage to still pay her by flash backing and flash forwarding. It was mainly because her Hobbit boyfriend is dead and he doesn't want her to work as much as him.

the only theory i've bought into is that the island is somehow time travel. you cant get there and you cant leave, women cant have kids there, nobody can find it....flashbacks, flash forwards. who knows though, GOD i cant wait, 1 hour and 39 minutes!!!!

this episode was kind of a let down for me, maybe just because i haven't seen it in soo long and was overly hyped to see it, or because of those fucking Eli stone commercials. i purposely changed the channel after the episode finished so that it wouldn't even be on in the background while i was typing this. by the time the guy parachuted on to the island the episode was already over. which was pretty wack. Hugo can see dead people and shit. Kate is mad hot.

They both suck, how amazing is Claire*? She gorgeous and nice and has done no wrong to anyone. What can you have against her? And Sun's alright too. But Claire is the best girl on the show.

Holy Shit I just tried out abc.com's new HD LOST streaming and it's sick!. Full on 720p and 1080p(might be uprezzed) puts my shitty SD cable to shame. If you got the connection (2Mbps) and the system(dual core, 1gig ram, 128mb video card) this definitely beats watching it on T.V. Less commercials too.

Locke's been very good at popping up where he shouldnt be right after something weird happens. One example was when Jack saw his father in the woods and chased after him, only to find Locke. It happened again in last night's episode when Hurley kept seeing houses and shit. Just throwing that out there.

okay this is a long shot, but....remember in the flash forward when hurley saw charlie and charlie said "you have to save them" or something like that....what if thats actually present time, and Hurley is traveling back in time to the island into what we see as present time to warn everyone to go with Locke, which is why he goes with Locke and tries to get the rest to join him. Fuck i dunno. next week will only give us new questions to think about.

Just read some stuff of there and one dude made a pretty good point. It's almost like the 815 survivors are coming full circle and turning into what they had despised, The Others. Their whole attitude and manner is pretty reminiscent of the jaded shit the Others used to say. Like when the chick from the copter finds them and they answer all her simple questions cryptically and when Hurley is stopped from telling her too much. Pretty weird.

Just read some stuff of there and one dude made a pretty good point. It's almost like the 815 survivors are coming full circle and turning into what they had despised, The Others. Their whole attitude and manner is pretty reminiscent of the jaded shit the Others used to say. Like when the chick from the copter finds them and they answer all her simple questions cryptically and when Hurley is stopped from telling her too much. Pretty weird.

cool to see this topic, I am a OG lost fan. I have done some crazy things to make sure I was home every week to watch it. All time favorite show on TV. Some people hate on it but I recomend you watch EVERY EPISODE before you start watching the fourth season. It will make it that much better.
As for those sites I try not to go to them spoilers just ruin it, its not like a skate video where seeing the actual trick happen is 10 times better then hearing about it. Not bummed on hearing Micheal is on the frieter becuase I figured that anyway.
Last weeks episode was so good, I thought they were going to end it without telling us who Dan, Miles and Charolette wanted, that would have sucked. So psyched for thursday.

I vaguely remember in a somewhat recent episode Jack was in court saying him and Kate are one of the 8 who made it off the island and 6 to still be alive (i think, that are in the public eye anyway) so I just try and figure out who's all alive in the future based on the flash forwards

Ben is not part of the Oceanic survivors and I don't think Claires baby counts as a survivor either since she was born on the island. Also Jin is off the island too.
i'm not sure cuz that episode was a while back, but i think Jack was lying to the court telling them that only 8 people survived the crash and only 6 made it back, meaning Jack, Kate, Sun, Hurley, Jin, and Sayid. Because he doesn't want everyone to know about the island and al the people that stayed behind.

I think maybe saying he died on the date of the crash could also possibly just be the easiest way to explain his death to the public if the reality of his death was too fucking crazy to speak out about, or if there was some wild circumstance that would incrimidate one of the other survivors, or send people to the island in search of bodies, etc.. I don't know, the show's insane and it can go in any direction at all times.

Also, i'm late to the thread so not sure if it's been mentioned but John Lock was an enlightenment philosopher and the enlightenmen philosophers did a lot of scrutinizing of religion. I'm not sure how that plays into the show but it's definitely not an acciedent and it seems weird that the sceptic would get sent into the cabin and would have visions and follow them.

i'd guess jack.
to me it seems like jack may have fucked a lot of people by leading them the wrong way and being so determined to get off the island at any cost, including trusting sketchy people. also i'd assume that at some point jack will become a bad guy because he got sick on the island and ben also got sick on the island. so there is some parrellel between what their role is while Lock and the black chic both got better on the island.
also, what would be better than jack becoming a bad guy? i think most guys hate him and would love to see him fail. why's this prick end up with Kate and the perfect life while someone cool like Hurely ends up in such a fucked up situation? i'm guess to build that negative feelings against jack so when he falls from grace everyone is stoked.

The last scene where the coffin is shown from above was one of the most gripping and intense shots ive seen in lost.

I was wondering about the people in the dingy. You would think the people in the chopper would have been able to see them and meet up or something, but it sounded like they disappeared too. Gonna be interesting to see how that is explained. Was there anyone else of importance on the dingy besides Daniel?

1.) Sayid - Dude is almost always on point, his BS meter is gold, and he's basically just a complete BAMF!!
2.)Desmond - Not sure why I like him so much, but him and Penny are the best couple, he risked his life to save Charlie like 50 times.
3.)Locke - The real deal.
4.)Sawyer - Funniest and one of the most likable characters.
5.)Richard - DONT KNO WAT THIS GUY'S DEAL IS BUT I LIK IT!!!

A few thoughts:
-How come the people on the helicopter couldn't see the island after it moved? Did it move not only in time but in location? Was the island in a different place before?
-When John gets shot in the leg by Ethan it seems to hurt him more and be life threatening according to Richard, which is odd because the island before made him not even notice a huge gash in his leg when he was with boon and he already survived a much more dangerous shot from Ben. Did the time traveling make John lose his powers?
-Was the baby Chang wakes up to care for, Charlotte or possibly the girl ben liked as a child?
-We know that the oceanic 6 experience 3 years off the island, I have a feeling the survivors that remain on the island will have a fraction of the time...this raises a lot of questions about time travel, but i think they will be explained along with the "rules"
-Richard seems to not experience time travel the way some of the others do-Ethan for example was obviously at a previous point, where he was alive to shoot Locke-he also didn't seem to notice the white flashing before the time change which John noticed.

You know, Daniel COULD be wrong, maybe Ben really is dead and an alternate timeline was created when Sayid killed Ben. It was a dead on shot in the chest, it's kinda hard to imagine Ben living after that. But then again, the island has some weird healing properties, so maybe Ben isn't dead after all. Maybe it's not Ben's "time yet". Kinda like when Michael tried to off himself, the island wouldn't let him die because he still had "work to do". Ben still has work to do.

I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the cast of Ben Jr. They got exactly the right kid to do it. That kiddo looks astonishingly similar to ben sr. and he's also got that creepy athmosphere. I hope he isnt dead cause I really enjoy that dude.

that was one hell of an episode. when sayid said "i now know why i had to come back" or whatever the actual line was, my jaw hit the floor and my pants got a little warmer. then when he capped baby ben it sealed the deal and my face melted into an alternative reality. i really wish more of my friends were into this show so i had someone to gossip and talk conspiracies with.

i'm pretty sure alex was a manifestation of the smoke monster. like after eko's judgment yemi came to get eko's confession, but eko didn't say what yemi/ smoke monster wanted to hear, so eko was killed. alex/ smoke monster made ben swear to do whatever locke wants, and he agreed, so he lived.
anyways, yeah... that was the best episode in a while i think. now if they can just get to some answers about christian, jacob, and claire i'll be happy.

I go through bouts of loving and hating the show. I think season 1 was my favorite still, season 2 ruined it for me, season 3 came back.... I'm not even sure where I am now. I never miss it, that's for sure. Things definitely have picked up steam once they drew the line in the sand. Now that the producers have an endpoint, things are at least progressing in a more focused manor (which may or may not take away from what made the first season so good).
I have a feeling after watching this week's episode that the lost crew is actually going to help Ben and the others kill of Dharma. It seems like a lost-esque twist. They think that they are there to prevent the massacre, but will find that the massacre must happen for some reason... which, is fitting, as they have always helped with the massacre (just unknown to them at this point). Locke could then be "The Guy" that convinces the others to take over the Dharma stations in the way that they must to ensure that the secrets of the island are not revealed.

I doubt Jacob is gonna end up being John's dad. And if I remember correctly, in an interview with the producers of the show awhile back they said that they actually hired a brand new actor to play the role of Jacob, so Jacob probably isn't going to be a character that we've already been introduced to, but a brand new character altogether.

John being Jacob/Jacob not existing makes sense going with the idea that the shocker of "i'm going to kill Jacob," very well could have meant that he was going to destroy Ben and Richard's ability to use him or someone that didn't exist by exposing it as a fraud in front of all the others...
However, I do think Jacob exists, and is someone different, Alvar Hanso makes sense-maybe he's supposed to be John's twin seperated at birth or his brother like a good/evil connection...
In any case, it's interesting to find out.

in reality, after every episode I usually just go back and read the synospsis anyway because my girlfriend is always sitting beside me asking questions that, for the life of me, I can't answer.

This is how I interpreted much of it as well... I hope John Locke comes back from the dead and kills that guy... I think it's the brother of Jacob maybe? In any case it seems like the whole show may be Jacob and the other one playing a game, like chess, with all the characters... Or something like that.
I was very satisfied with that episode as a season finale. Next season should be crazy.
I wonder what Kate's deal is at this point. It seems obvious that she loved Sawyer, but now I'm not so sure. I was disappointed in that she didn't die in this episode, and that, I thought Jack was over her. But I guess not.

Jacob and Mr.Smoke or that Black Shirt Guy's dialogue at the beginning is important, I agree with dagger about the chessgame idea and they are getting people to fight agaisnt eachother, the Black Shirt Guy needed Ben to kill Jacob and that was the "loophole"
Christian was a reincarnation of Black Shirt Guy or Mr.Smoke and he convinced Locke to go back and die so he could take his body and the process could start
Basically, John Locke was whored out, used, and killed, his character was ruined
The actor who plays him will be on the show, but the buildup from the last 5 seasons of John Locke having a purpose or being special was all to waste, he was just murdered by Benjamin Linus

That WAS the biggest shocker of the show for me like this whole season you're thinking alright John is finally starting to live up to his potential and in fact, controlling Ben and everything else for the first time in his life-then you realize it's not him at all.
However, the guy that's in John seemed surprised that Ben saw his daughter who told him to do whatever John said...which makes me think that maybe that the guy inside John is still getting played by Jacob somehow. Perhaps if Jacob is killed someone must take his place, like dead John? So confused right now.
In any case, I'm hopeful he will come back to live though, and maybe kill whoever is in his other body...

yeah, "esau" is definitely the smoke monster. esau locke-bite being shocked that ben saw his daughter (also the smoke monster/esau) is nothing to think about, esau locke was just acting exactly as locke does. it still bothers me that this theory places christian as the smoke monster and "bad guy"... the missing pieces mobisode where he sends vincent to get jack, saying "he's got work to do" gave me such hope in jack that i put up with his stubborn bullshit for five seasons hoping he was going to be so important, when in all actuality his work was just to be his stubborn stupid self which leads him off the island, which leads to locke dying, which leads to jack bringing locke back to the island so the smoke monster (originally christian saying he has work to do) can take his body and kill jacob. FUCK.
