I'm psyched on the new wave of ams and young pros that are coming in. It seems like for awhile everyone was just doing the same shit but now some of the new guys are coming in and skating a lot of new spots and doing all new shit.
It's weird to think that some of these guys will be killing it for the next 10 years. I wonder who will be permanent and who will fall off. Any predictions?
-
i think a silas-baxter neal part in 10 years will be worth a watch
-
danny falla, brandon westgate, ron deily, chaz ortiz.
all rippers of the new generation
-
Cardiel!
Most of the older guys on girl will still kill it.
Mikemo
Cromer
trapasso
Herman will still kill it
Bobby Worrest
(insert more cliche slap answers)
but seriously if Mikemos on the shit he's on now........10 years, holy shit.
-
im stacking my hope in a few dudes, im definatly forgetting a good amount but heres who comes to mind:
p-kid
jimmy mcdonald
manderson
gravette
david gonzales (kid isn't afraid of anything, lets just hope he doesn't get into drugs/alcohol as fast as it looks)
andrew allen
westgate
edit: i thought it was an am only type thing, new pros will add a good 20-30 names to my list
-
Speaking of falling off remember Carlos Ruiz from "What If"? with 0 flip tricks in his part...
What the hell happened to him?
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1R8Pr5CKbO4&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1R8Pr5CKbO4&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
-
Carlos Ruiz went to jail for a while dude.
-
lets not turn this into a "what happened to........" thread but what about pat corcoran of AWS fame? reminds me of carlos ruiz.
-
people who will fall off
billy marks- don't know why, just seems like he would
vince del valle- don't know why also, doesn't seem like the type that would have longevity to me.
ethan fowler- its been happening slowly ever since he left stereo
-
James Hardy will be in the top
David Clark
Brad Cromer
Brandon Westgate
and Lem Villimen
-
i cant even imagine what it'll be like in 10 years. im still bummed that all the guys i grew up on are going to be 40+ in 10 years...Carroll, Koston, Reynolds, Kirchart...hopefully they'll all still be around though. After Fully Flared it seems like age doesnt mean shit.
-

That's exactly what I was thinking about. I can't believe that the guys you mentioned and Geoff, Guy, McCrank, and others have been running shit for this long. Andrew Reynolds and the Lakai guys really chilled me out when I started to worry about getting older. Now I know I can still kill it in my early 30's. Not that I'm amazing, but I'll be having a blast.
-
I'm sure Koston will still be killing it
-
Jimmy McDonald will kill it for the next 10+ years.
-
Man, what will pro skating be like in 10 years? How much more gnarly and tech can it get?
I doubt many of the guys jumping down the biggest stuff will still be pushing many limits, 10 years of that shit takes a toll.
I'd hope/expect raw street dudes like Alex Olson to be around. John Motta will be hot shit too, as to make it in the game, you'll need to be stylish, creative, tech and gnarly like him.
-
Trapasso will probably be huge, Mike Anderson, Brad Cromer, that Robbie Russo kid as well will all probably go really far in skating
-
lets not turn this into a "what happened to........" thread but what about pat corcoran of AWS fame? reminds me of carlos ruiz.
he's got a gnarly 50 50 in some thrasher vid...
now let's turn this thread into a thrasher vid appreesh.
Wade Speyer is amazing, and Phil Shao ripped. R.I.P.
-
Jimmy McDonald will kill it for the next 10+ years.
hes on some next level shit
worrest
gravette
-
gilbert crockett
this dude travis pittman from here has a ton of potential
-
Malto.
-
Jimmy McDonald will kill it for the next 100+ years.
-
Duncombe, Worrest, Silas, Mikemo, Motta, the krooked ams, BUSENITZ, Brock, Jimmy Mcdonald, Brian Hansen, Antwuan (although I can see him falling off as easily as him killing it)... shit, theres a bunch of guys.
-
Dompierre will be around. He's sick seems like he has a good attitude. Worrest for sure. Malto for ams.
-
jbrock for sure. trapasso, gravette and i cant wait to see the shit that mike mo is gonna be doin
-
I'm pretty sure Gravette will die 50-50ing the biggest handrail ever. So not him. He'll put up a good fight though. I'd imagine Emmanual Guzman killing everything for quite some time.
-
Unless Alex Olsen goes crazy or something, he will probably be the guy
-
I think Alex Olson, Jimmy McDonald, Nick Dompierre, Bobby Worrest, Silas and Mike Mo (amongst others) will be the next guys that are the really "big name" well known pro's that kids will be hyped on.
I think Trepasso might fall off. I've heard you can't make him do anything he doesn't want to so if one of the things he doesn't want to do becomes filing and shooting photos he could become the psychedelic equivalent to a Trainwreck relatively easily.
Also, in 5 years, Sheckler will have quit skating altogether for rolling free weight curling. A sport he invented and pioneered.
-
that Robbie Russo kid as well will all probably go really far in skating
I hope so. Anti-hero ams have a tendency to fall heavy into the whole anti-hero thing and end up as alcoholics and junkies who "could have been...."

Really true. Hope it doesn't happen to their new crop Andrew Allen is too raw to end up a boozer who's dropped anchor on life.
-
hate to say it, but I don't think dan renaud will stick it for another ten years
-
van wastell
-
i think bachinsky is gonna blow up after the promo...if you all don't think he's already blown up
-

I saw this kid at Channel Street and couldn't believe it. He has the most effortless style and just doesn't stop. It's one thing to see somebody's edited part in a video and it's another to watch some little kid kill it for 30 minutes and never fuck up. I'm really rooting for this guy.
-
hate to say it, but I don't think dan renaud will stick it for another ten years
I think he'll always be skating, but as far as being pro he might blow it and not be pro anymore. He's a great skater but there's endless stories of him being a real moron.
-
CHIMA~
-
Anyone like bobby, cliche I know but he has the right idea to stay gold
-
In addition to many already named, I hope Torey Pudwill and Neen Williams are still killing it in 10 years.
-
pretty much everyone already said. i have a feeling lucas puig will be that main dude though. i really hope antwuan doesn't end in jail for a long time or dead and instead still killing it. trapasso i hope doesn't fall off either, he's too good.
EDIT: shit, i forgot to mention that jaime palmore, jimmy cao and especially kellen james will still be killing shit for a long time too.

i think being a cripple might hold him back 'for the next 10'.
-
Nick Mclouth. I just watched his mag minute.... holy hell.
-
Neen and Steve Fauser. Go head an kook me for that one, but Fauser kills it.
-
the Decenzo brothers.
-
all the crailtap ams, the toy ams, all volcom ams, torey pudwill, sheckler will be a kook but still be amazing, and Neen Williams will slowly but surely pick up some legit sponsers.
-
...like that board company he's on now isn't legit or anything?
-
i couldnt picture john rattray or rick mccrank slowing down in the next 10 years
-
gilbert crockett
this dude travis pittman from here has a ton of potential
You from Richmond? Me too!!!

A lot of the dudes you guys picked are on their way out as soon as this "creative" trend is over.

What the hell are you talking about? Creativity is the heart of skateboarding. Skateboarding would suck if everyone just kept doing the same shit. What type of skating do you want to watch if it's not creative?

By "creative" i mean doing gay shit like wallrides, polejams, fake transistion, tricks into lame ass banks that aren't even that steep, and the like.

its possible for the creativity to branch off into handrail and stair skating, stair skating isn't limited to jumping down them.

pole jams and wallrides arent a trend, those tricks were pioneered before gaps and handrails were. lets see you wallride a straight wall, it takes just as much skill as your bs 5-0 down a handrail, if not more

Yeah but he doesn't want to see "creative" skateboarding. He'd rather watch unoriginal trick on handrails and stairs.

I beg to differ yerp...and I'm a fan of wallrides

HAHAHA. Even if that is true, I'm not am, I don't have to constantly put out footage for sponsors, they do. If they are doing anything that's on the same level as my skating(you said it, not me), then they do not deserve to be sponsored. Expand Quote

I've never even said what i would rather watch, than "creative" skating. I actually prefer Ledges and manuals, but if someone is doing tech shit on handrails, or good flip tricks down stairs, that is always adds to their watchability factor.

This is Slap, man. Banks and pole jams will win out every time over rail tricks.
-
ChildoftheGhetto, you should be happy to know that Mike Anderson fits your category of a watchable skateboarder.
-
I beg to differ yerp...and I'm a fan of wallrides
i backside 5-0ed a handrail before i did a wallride on a straight wall, not that means one trick is harder then the other, but for me wallrides took me longer to learn.
-
child of the ghetto no offense but what did you think about the new static video? was that unwatchable in your opinion? how about clark hassler's enjoi part?
-

Yea static 3 is pretty bad. Aside from the jersey footage(steve durrant is amazing). Danny renaud is amazing, but his part in static was lame. Clark's good, but that part wasn't as good as it could have been. His part in crouching filmer hidden poacher is amazing though.
