Title: R.I.P. PS Stix
Post by: stan on July 15, 2025, 02:07:44 PM
PS Stix will be closing production end of this week.

Ps Stix equipment is being bought by by a place just opening now up called OK Skate Manufacturing

And

OK SK8 will be producing all current left over orders  from PS Stix summer orders and as of the workers are moving to OK skate as well

Idk where Paul is going yet ?

Julio De La Cruz  .. is taking over Paul's spot .

R.I.P.   PS STIX

Wild to hear

Skateboarding is dying

  More and more each day

End of an era.

Nice to see the manufacturing continuing. "Ok skateboards", lol, hopefully an undersell and overdeliver type marketing strategy.

I guess just where the person posted it.

Maybe @Alan could move it to Shoes and Gear to get a little more interest or where ever it would be more relevant?

That’s my hope. I know quality has been slipping (I don’t really skate PS wood) but I think it’s just covid and Paul getting older. As long as he’s happy with this then I’m happy. He’s an absolute legend and deserves to be recognized as such.

Seeing Julio De La Cruz bought his stuff and factory and is taking over (granted under his own name) makes me think it’s a passing of the torch.

Paul had a big sell off of equipment and boards at his old shop in Costa Mesa a few weeks ago. I figured it was just to get rid of stuff collecting dust

Oksk8 is based out of Rosarito, PS Stix were based out of Rosarito, and Julio De La Cruz mentioned in his 9 club that he helped Paul move into a smaller facility there

Title: Re: R.I.P. PS Stix

Julio has the experience it seems. Its funny I always thought he was a really rad skater, I randomly had Logic and Big Brother issues he appeared in. Would have never pictured him to be a woodshop nerd at that time cause he was hella fresh looking on the board. Also him being Mexican I think kinda helps overseeing production.

I have heard that there is a lot of gangster / criminal activity in mexico, and chances are you will have to pay off some sort of cartel a cut to protect you etc. With that massive risk, is it still worth it to do business in Meixco? i think history shows the answer is yes. my best guess is they just have liek kind of "higher security" type compounds for industrial areas where its not worth it for them to get in (probably no money is transacted at these locations or anything either... so maybe not worth it either)

Ive had a 3,400 dollar order placed w ps stix since april
Paid half for  the deposit and since then have been ghosted and stung along since then. It got to the point where i knew they werent answering my calls on purpose .
I ended up getting ahold of them thru another phone just to hear directly that this is true. The operation is switching without being told to everyone upfront. I know how skateboarding goes so i understand bit the lack of communication is frustrating.Kinda confused how to proceed. Everytime is so hard to get ahold of anyone and when i do they just tell me ill get a call back (i never have) Unfortunately were not the only one this is happening to so i would appreciate any advice<3

I had a WKND board where the truck holes were drilled incorrectly, which is bizarre because they one would assume that decks were drilled by a fixed jig.

https://www.instagram.com/okskateboardsmfg/

https://www.instagram.com/psstix_julio/

https://www.instagram.com/psstix/

https://www.instagram.com/juliodelacruz_la1/

I guess checking posts and dates of things, PS Stix last production post in Feb 2025, Julio ad post in May and OK started moving presses and doing things from early May then getting things rolling from that time.

The old Julio account hasn't had activity for a while, but that was when he started working for / at PS Stix, May 2023.

Also given the first post from OK was a fair while earlier, maybe this whole thing has been in the works for a while now and just had to wind down PS Stix before changing over, moving presses to a new location (as per instagram posts) and starting again.

* This is by no means anything other than speculation based on the posts timelines, but I guess things have been happening for a while, as per some of the comments on those posts.

What do you want to know ?

.  Sometimes there's debts in rails of boards from shipping or bad sanding

Board graphics get printed upside down

Wrong sizes get shiped  or cut wrong

Graphic inks sometimes come off the shrink-wrap.    Poor ink quality

Sometimes ditial printing cmyk can mis small detail
Or mix colors up . Darkering colors  or skipping white base .

   Sales people quit alot
Or. Orders get delayed 2 to 3 weeks extra

Shipping costs can change .  . When there already set .  In sales orders  slips. When a order is ready to ship out

Making the order cost more per deck wholesale..
I'm the end

[/quote

Not all company's do this but ..

So you order 100 boards   and they say those 100 boards will be ready I'm 6 weeks  ...

6 weeks later they email or call you saying not all 100 boards arent ready they only have 75 boards done abd ready  ..
There sending you a partial shipment  / 3 quarters of the way  completed  to you .. and they will send you the other 25 boards when there done

You pay the preaty much the same shipping price for 100 boards to ship that 75 boards out

With is Like around about $2 / $3 a board shiped ..

Then when the last of the 25 decks are done you pay again to ship the last 25 decks out  with a new qouted shipping price

It makes the order in the long run cost you like $35 to $40 buck more the original price.

It not being in a lumped order .  All together shiped out at once ..
Boxes of 10 to 15 boards

100 boards is like 10 to 12 boxes  $32.50 to $35 each box just on shipping cost only

It adds up fast.   Making the wholesale board cost around $25 / $28 / $29 each wholsale times 100 boards

 In total

You can also pick your order up but you gotta have a bad ass truck or van or vehicle do so ..
In live of have your business near that factory pick up port distribution

    But it's all a game
Business is going down hill as well
It's becoming a shoe retailer game resale market b.s fuckery slice of shit .. mocking skateboarding face.
Kids are getting dumber abd not pushing there skating..
Doing drugs and there generation get bonnie blue on the gram as a role model not looking good in any way .  Fir the next generation.

Video games iPhone ai and bonnie blue.

Looking dope right .. fuck no .. it looking bad .. now for skateboarding . In today's world .

I don't know why I feel like I've just read about the state of the skateboard industry as a typing warm-up manically written by Jack Kerouac, but whatever.

The Prof's nearing retirement age anyway, no?

At least we can finally all agree to measure the length of a deck by the straight line, not by the curve.

Godspeed, Professor. Kudos for the lifetime achievement. May you have a bountiful life post PS Stix.

Thank you skateboarding.

Id love to but they dont operate in the us. I would only be able to do the broker they work with. But regardless its more work thats its worth. A week or 2 after this post i finally spoke with paul who assured me id have my boards in 2-4 weeks. Currently on week 3 of that and week 16 of my total order which i was originally quoted anywhere from 6-10 weeks . This is my third manufacturer and easily the most frustrating. I put my respect on what paul did for skating, but it would’ve been much easier to finish all current orders then close up shop rather than what happened. Ik this skating shit is hard to make a living on so i cant act like id do better. I would however, approach the transition differently. Okskate could be amazing in the future but it definitely is not up to par currently.

But where will I get 8's with sloppy cutted shapes with no tail and uneven concave from?

Hey those are my favourite, too.
