The chukka is a better looking, more iconic shoe than half cabs and possibly the best vulc skate shoe ever made.
Sorry to those who don’t have IG but this mini doc shows just how much history they had in skateboarding.

This too but it’s more of a history of the cans chukka itself.

If you don’t have insta here’s some pictures that from that mini doc show how sick they are no matter who was rocking them.

And probably the most iconic person to ever wear them, Matt Hensley:

It's a shame they don't seem to produce these anymore (or just for one-offs) cuz they look sick.

This. I heard that they were gonna make it a permanent staple in the skate line, but they made a white suede and a brown suede pair and they seem to have just stopped.
-
That Vans doesn’t make Chukka Boots anymore is representative of their current flailing.
-
Hot ass take
-
My favorite wearer of the chukka boot was Tim Gavin

Also the song is way sicker than Metallica
-
I loved the suede Chukka Lows I had back in the day. Now they do them with a stupid stripe on the side.
-
they're cool but I never liked the sew line right in the ollie area.
-
The best. Anytime a canvas version drops I try to buy a pair. The authentic mids are a pale substitution.

Agreed, had to stop and watch the whole part after, still so good...
This is definitely what hyped me up on the Chukka, always on the hunt for pairs in my size to this day...
-
They look best with a black midsole. White is whatever. Shame Vans put them OoP.
-
Loves these. Always wanted a dark navy pair with black sole.
Don't know why Vans just throws tonnes of random ideas at a wall when they could just improve the durability of the classics and have stuff like the chukka in regular rotation
-
My all time favorite shoe. Always grab a pair whenever they’re available. Had a pair of the all black suedes that had the tan foxing and tan laces freshman year of high school.
-
They’ll find a way to rerelease them and still fuck it up somehow like throwing that dumb ass checkerboard tag on there or a huge logo on the tongue. Just give the people a simple looking shoe that skates well. Is that too much to ask?
-
Vans...
Bring back the chukka boot...
Make them a "premium" classic...
No canvas... just suede with black midsole and gum bottom with the thick ass boot laces.
That's all no more no less.
-
They’ll be back later this year.

Best shoe I’ve ever skated. The Chukka Lows and the Chukka VCUs are insane, best grip ever. And the suede holds up really well.

Here as much for chukka praise as half cab hate. Chukkas were the absolute coolest in the Limpies/Fuct pants era, when the options were Airwalk, Etnies, or Vans( I think Vision shoes was already gone). Dope silhouette, I assumed they were still around. I tried on Half Cabs at least 4 times between 91 and 2010ish and they always felt like complete dog shit. That combined with modern day Crab's name on them is a forever nope. Vans as a brand bums me out in skating more than Nike because Vans used to be Vans but Nike has always been Nike.

This.100% this. The only reason I’ve ever bought anything other than vans is because I’m sick of things like the berle shoe, the obvious quality drop for those of us who are old enough to have regular skated the USA vans know. Would go back in a minute if they streamlined the operation and made good shoes again
-
Chukkas were the first skate shoe I ever had in 91 or 92 and I've always been fond of them. It's a damn shame they aren't permanently in the line up.
I bought some new Skate Chukka Lows in the Tactics $35 shoe sale and while they seemed ok-ish they were also the only pair of Vans I've had that felt too small in the toe box and crushed my pinky toe and gave me a blister. I bet it's that stupid thick insole they use now.
@Vans just make a goddamn normal Chukka again you cowards.

Never been a huge Koston fan, is there footage of this?
-
There must be some good photos of Ocean wearing them out there somewhere. One of the ugliest but still amazing skate shoes ever made IMO.
-
The navy/white colorway in the Hensley picture was always one of my favorites
-
Had the black suede/gum ones with the work boot looking laces back in about ‘91. Didn’t even skate then, but saw them in the Eastbay catalog next to the basketball shoes, and something lit up in my brain.

Cheers, I hadn't even heard of the 101 WWII Report Promo, was only familiar with Falling Down, Snuff and Trilogy
