Let's bang this one out, too.

I think if you lay it out like this it would be easier to choose for us

I’m on 8.375, previously on 8.5 and next in line is 8.125. Before the 8.5 I had a couple 8.25. Depending on how it goes with the 8.125, I’ll most likely settle on something in between 8.25 and 8.5 as my go to deck size so I picked 8.4.

There's not much difference between yours and OP's tho? ???
You just added the (more common) hundredth and thousand place specs to the existing sizes.
The list was already easy to pick from for slap's madness riddled skaters

I have too much madness
I couldn't decide between 8.2 and 8.3 for 8.25
Or 8.3 and 8.4 for 8.375
I think it was just the 8.4 option that threw me off
I'm literally nuts though so no worries hahah

I first looked at it and thought I ride the DLX 8.38 which is almost 8.5, more so than 8.3 or 8.4 sizes, which there are, eg Ishod 8.3 or the other DLX shape 8.4 deck.
Then I thought if there was a disclaimer whatever the 8.X with YZ after it is the most common, so if you ride 8.25 or 8.28 or whatever, that all comes under 8.2 size boards. The 8.375 or 8.38 are all under 8.3 and the 8.4875 would be under 8.4 so it all works out fairly well when I think of it like that.
It is crazy to bring up some shop sites and there are literally almost fifty skate deck size options on the list, including almost ten between 8.3 and 8.5 alone. I never knew there could be so many options, but any which way, this hopefully will show what is maybe more common, in that round numbers, 8.0 to 8.25 to 8.5 to 8.75 might be more common than all the in between sizes, maybe with the exception of the 8.3 option as I know so many people who are on that size deck right now.

Surprised to see 9+ representing so hard…even though that was what I picked. Sasquatch foot mafia runs this place???

8.06

so 8.4 is a thing but 7.9 no ?
just joking i ride 8.5 as everybody, but i rode 7.875 a long time ago.
-
I have three setups…a 9”, 8.5 and 8.25. I skate all three during a session and usually settle on one, and lately, more times than not, that choice has been the 9”.
Having three options has saved more than a few of my very limited sessons when I wasn’t feeling the board I warmed up on.

Went between 8.25, 8.38 and 8.5 for the past few years. Settled on 8.38 and have been happy with it.
-
I’m fine with 8.38-8.5, I can adjust depending on my mood or what I want to work on at the time of purchase. I did however choose the 8.4 option because I absolutely love the Antihero 8.4 shape. There’s just not many options for that one though.
-
I usually ride I ride 8.5 but I'll ride 8.25 and 8.3.
I just set up an 8.5 symmetrical Roger deck. It's such a nice shape. Hlc makes a quality product.
-
8.5 EE3 setup
9.25 football/ tech setup
I spend most of my time on the latter but those two are always in my quiver
-
landlocked at 9.0
would do a 9.25 if venture sold 9+ trucks
-
7.875 ;)

That 8.4 deck seems way closer to 8.25 to me than 8.5.

Thinking about the most common boards now, being pretty much the 8.25 through to 8.6 sizes, which is still within that same range they have been in for a while, which pairs up with the truck poll nicely too.
Even with the first and last, which might seem unnecessary, that is almost 60% all up, with people often riding 8.6 boards on 8.5 trucks anyway.
8.2" 31 (15.8%)
8.3" 25 (12.8%)
8.4" 9 (4.6%)
8.5" 49 (25%)
8.6" 3 (1.5%)
I think the only other thing I am more curious about is the 9.0 vs the over 9+ numbers, but I guess that is not so much that it would change too much anyway.
Under 8.1 all up 17.8% and over 8.7 all up 17.3% is also an interesting comparison.

Went to a 8.25 but since have gone back down to an 8. As much as it is nice to have the extra room an 8 just feels right to me. What’s crazy is 8.25 and above is the norm now where as when I was 6-18 it was always 7.5-7.75 for street didn’t see anyone skating street with a bigger board that usually. Not much of a selection for 8.0 decks from what I’ve seen.

Even less selection for people who still want anything under 8 as well, but there are still a good number of decks out there, maybe just not in a lot of the shops as they are considered "dead stock" almost as soon as they arrive, if the graphic has dated, or they are not team or generic branded boards.
Things went from 7.something, to 8, then 8.1 to 8.2 and now I think it is up around the 8.3 to 8.5, with a good number of people I know wanting only 8.7 and up around here, but I can't see too many more going way bigger than that, apart from the more novelty sized boards that are coming out - sure they are fun, but most people still ride something in the 8s maybe more so than the 9s or 10+ sizes.
* As I said in the other poll, I wonder how much this relates to everyone else who is not on here, but I think I move more 8.25 through 8.5 with an increasing number of 8.75s, over the others. There are still a number of people I know on 8s, but they are more specific with their boards too, compared to the usual shop customer.

Just seeing this.
The 8.4 measures 8.38
Coincidentally the 8.25 DLX measures 8.3 ( which really fucked me up trying 8.25 trucks ).

Yes, it is a funny old set of decks from DLX, between the 8.25, 8.3, 8.38, 8.4 and even a couple of the 8.5 boards, things are all kinds of this way or that, but they are also all mostly between 8.3 and 8.45.
8.25 and 8.28 = 8.3
8.38 with 14.5 wb = 8.475
8.38 Manderson = 8.4
8.4 with 14.25 wb = 8.38
8.5 = 8.45 (blue eagle)
I have 149s / 8.5 trucks on all of them, but I know some people prefer 144s or 8.25 trucks on all those options too.
