So I recently just got back into skateboarding at 35. Bought a zoo York 8.0x32 14” wheel Base which the shape was great mellow concave and the nose and tail were just right but the board went to crap quick and I snapped the tail. Back when I used to skate zoo York was a decent brand but from what I’ve seen it’s a pretty big sell out brand so guessing the boards are cheaply made somewhere else now. Picked up an 8.25x31.9 alien workshop with a 14.1 wheel base and Slappy trucks and don’t like it at all. The shape with the big shovel nose and too much concave. The trucks also may have to do with it as they’re pretty tall and it throws off my timing of the pop so will possibly be getting new trucks also. I’m going back to a 8.0 or 8.125 deck but it’s hard to find one with a 14” wheel base most are 14.25 and up. Any suggestions on a deck with mellow concave shorter wheel base in an 8.0 or 8.125? Also for trucks would like a low truck the thunders I have for my 8.0 I notice I slide a bit on my wheels a bit more vs the base plate for nose slides and tail slides. Checked out all of the board shapes deluxe boards seem to be the way to go but was also looking at April, baker, primitive and the new Powell flight decks. As for trucks it seems ace might be the way to go for low trucks but Any help is appreciated. Like most things lately a lot of things seem to not hold up like they used to so would like a board that’s durable too. Also If anyone is interested in some brand new Slappy ULKP 8.25 trucks let me know.

Wait for someone to chime in, because I’m not sure since they switched to BBS.
Ace AF1 Low in 33 is what you want. Venture Lows are also good, but they increase the wheelbase, which you wouldn’t like.

Considering you bought a Zoo York, I assume you don’t have a local. Go to a Zumiez or Vans store in the mall, check out their boards, and buy it online from a skate shop.

Zumiez is about 45 minutes away last time I went in there to find something for my son they had a really small selection of decks but that’s a good idea I’ll check it out again. I appreciate the advice!

There used to be a ton of skate shops around me but the closest is zumiez and the other is about an hour away. The cycle shop down the road used to carry decks and stuff but they weren’t selling so they stopped. I’ll try zumiez again but they had a small selection of stuff as that mall is falling apart like most.

Then drive the extra 15 minutes to the real skate shop?

They could also call the shop before driving, because shop employees actually know what boards are on the wall, and what trucks are in the display case. If there isn’t anything that meets the criteria, the owner/manager will probably order whatever is requested.
It just makes more sense to get the trucks and deck from the shop, instead of having to order from multiple shops online.
