Title: Nylon hats
Post by: getonkrooked on February 17, 2026, 06:12:09 AM
Hi Pals! Have you seen any brands making "nylon" 6panels or caps in general?

I've been looking online across a few multi-brand stores but haven't had any luck. Usually they don't list the material either so it's only zooming on images and hope they're clear enough to tell, so any recommendations would be much appreciated!

I can only skate in hats and the normal canvas caps get faded or get sweat stains in weeks but these tend to hold up for a long while.
As a reference for what I mean I've been wearing this exact FA 6 panel for years:

it's the middle of winter so prob not going to find any skate brands releasing any right now, in summer brands like Dime might release a couple.

but your best bet is to look at a running store's site, my local one always has a bin of nylon hats on sale for cheap

This is what all the hardcore bands are using. They have a softer brim which is actually quite nice.

Do nylon hats get super hot in the summer? I never had one but I also get sweat stains on hats super quick but I thought a nylon hat would be hot.

I feel like they breathe really well and don’t get too hot.

it's basically drifit material for your dome. I have one from a old Supreme/Nike collab and it works well in the hot and humid days but after a while it's just like skating in a fully sweated out jersey

I have the same hat since years and love it so much too....
My fav alternatives are a polar kind of rip stop looking hat and a quasi nylon hat.

https://www.nativeskatestore.co.uk/skate-clothing-c9/caps-c19/skam-snapback-cap-black-p64321

The shape is not as great on the quasi but the polar has a cool shape, also wear it since forever

I love these jawns; have a bunch of ‘em.
Started in on them because, much like @Murge, I sweat up on my dome a good bit & was staining/bleaching cotton hats where & when salt would accumulate; I’d clean them up by washing them, but the bleached parts remained.
Figuring a synthetic won’t fade nearly as quickly, I gave one a try & it’s not only fairly cool, but blocks wind well on cooler days too.
When it comes to cleaning: a quick rinse in the sink or tub, followed by a brief hang-dry (they are a quick dry material, after all) & they’re demineralized/looking good again.
If you use terms like “quick dry,” “Nylon” & “surf cap” in your search you’ll find a whole world of blank samples in a variety of colors awaiting your parusal.

Heroin came to mind first.

I used to have a Hockey one that I bought used and it was a staple for a good few years. Had to throw it away because the inner brim came apart from all the use. After that i've sweated quite a few canvas caps unusable in just a couple of years. Never gave it any thought but makes sense now reading this thread.

I had this nylon-type quasi hat that has terry cloth lining and it was the best summer hat I ever owned, unfortunately the SnapBack part has since disintegrated …

it's an easy fix, you can buy those separately and you won't even need a sewing machine to replace it, it can be easily done by hand

Edit: I cut out the stupid mesh support thing in all my hats.

Every Friday www.dasbootleg13.com has a new bootleg drop and a lot of the time he has some of these hats for various bands. Not sure if you would want that but I bought one recently and it’s super nice. Lightweight and breathable.

For any brands monitoring the forums, PLEASE make more of these and PLEASE use traditional snapback closures instead of the goddamn plastic clips that have the tail that dangles on your fuckin forehead if its not neatly tucked into the opposite side

Www.rei.com or any other outdoors store and search for cycling or running caps. I have a Collection of crushable running hats. I give it a quick rinse and hang dry every time I sweat it out. Keeps it from ever getting that hat stink.

Definitely the best type of hat. Best for skating in the hot days. Not really a winter hat though. I have lost a bunch over the years. Right now I have two on deck. I have a green nocturnal skate shop noc one and a grey nj skate shop seems like shops make them every so often.  NJ has some right now.

Muji sells blank ones. I've skated in one of these and it was nice in the summer time.
