They have been severely underrated regarding the video's they have been making the past 10 years.
Lot of gems in there.

In the Foundation timeline, nothing will ever top Art Bars, but Don's output has been agreeably enjoyable...

he's prolly not getting much of a salary from either but you gotta assume he's getting a better royalty check from Sci Fi just purely off the popularity of the brand compared to Foundation

Oh shit, DFA records. You just unlocked a memory. I used to have Delia Gonzalez's "In Remembrance" on vinyl off of DFA. Just picked it up randomly while digging because the cover looked cool. Came with a DVD of an experimental 16mm film (I think she made?) of ballet dancers in four sections that you could put on at the same time as the record and each section of the film would sync to each track on the record. It was kinda "soundscapey" though so it didn't matter at what point you put on the record or the DVD, really (DVD would autoloop). She was no Lea Bertucci, but I do remember thinking it was an interesting departure from her other stuff which was like LCD Soundsystem adjacent. Hot pink vinyl. Shit was tight. Life happened and I eventually had to sell it, but it was a special find at the time.

...What's the thread about again?

Correct. I’m guessing Dakota Servold is behind these Foundation related ones since he had the first vid back in February about his life and athlete management role at Rockstar now. Pretty dope he’s hooking up the homies with coverage.

I’m super stoked for this video. Don Luong is so good.

As much as I enjoy Madar’s Skate Tales everytime there’s a mandatory clip of him drinking Red Bull on screen it takes my mind away from the subject and forces me to think about all this cynical mega corporation men in suits big dollar-bullshit.

far from it, i've watched several videos from both of these outlets actually, that's why I know they're extremely corny. the forced emotional music (often eerily similar to the original music from a classic video part that they're trying to emulate but don't want to get the rights for, see the PJ Ladd video on Storied), the editing to force some redemption narrative when there really isn't one, the supposedly organic guest appearances from Rockstar riders (Joslin just "popping up" in the Bubba Jackson video), the shilling of bullshit nostalgia decks.

shit sucks. between Pocket's Followed, Epicly Later'd, Thrasher Out There/Cold Call, Jenkem Hanging Out With, Skate Jawn $100 Chill, etc do we really need another day in the life or career retrospective video series born from Rockstar or the ashes of The Berrics to sell us energy drinks or "I Used to Skate" boards?

is it the worst thing in the world for these to exist? no, and much of skate media is marketing at the end of the day, but these outlets specifically feel more cynical than most and i think it's fine to acknowledge that.

Fuck it I’m in! Even though he’s dropped a handful of amazing full lengths for these brands, I don’t think Don gets enough credit

the credit due would be the general support of the brand. I cant think of the last bad video F even made in the last forever. the worst videos they ever made were cataclysmic abyss and WTF. Only because they were coming off the heels of thats life and set the bar too high. Those videos rule tho.

Everything don has made for F starting with Oddity and the whole cole wilson movement to when glick showed up and we got splendor, star and moon, souvenir. All of which of them have been some of the better videos put out for those years.

For some reason, the general public just like to talk down on foundation with no real reason behind it other than they dont pay their team riders as much as red bull and nike does.

F gave us Steve olsen and HK, josh beagle, Leo, Duffel, Justin Strubing, Corey glick, ronnie creager, eathan fowler, angel ramirez.....

Honestly cant think of any reason to dislike this brand at any point in history

Fuck it I’m in! Even though he’s dropped a handful of amazing full lengths for these brands, I don’t think Don gets enough credit
[close]

the credit due would be the general support of the brand.

I think Tod Swank is the answer to the pay and the dislike

Do you actually buy Foundation decks at full price? Not accusing you of not being genuine but just curious. All this talk is useless unless the mentioned videos actually made you want to support them.

My theory of why Foundation is truggling (besides general downturn in the industry) is that younger skaters like brands that sell them an image/dream to look up to. No kid is dreaming of skating only on weekends and working a real job to barely survive. They can do that in real life in due time. Older guys who can appreciate the vibe of current Foundation will just admire from afar and continue skating something form DLX or shop decks.

Just saying from my experience foundation seemed like it wasn’t viewed great because it was run by a guy who didn’t treat his riders well - see them fucking over a young Omar Salazar or causing the mass Toy Machine exodus and it became a sub brand while Toy and zero got hot.   Duffel is a talented skater, but not who you want as the face of your brand back in the “I wish I had got on baker/zero” days

Ruby and Lindloff smashed it. Austin Heilman got athletic grace style. Tanner Lawler Tailslide kickflip tailside around the corner was dope. Aidan Campbell feel like Corey Click if Corey Glick Sci Fi era stayed. Cool direction the Super Co. is going. The editing was a good change a pace from something like "WTF", an all time favorite for me off the soundtrack alone. Big Up to everyone in this video. Worked hard and ripped

I think Rockstar Energy is behind it. I like their vids and it's good they're trying something new.

I’m not mad at it , we need more than just thrasher as a media outlet and they have enough money.

Edit : wait I haven’t watched yet didn’t realize it was out , Aidan has a part I thought he was off years ago to do Etnies TM stuff. Gonna check this out now.

This whole video has classic trascendental time vibes! This one of the videos that would be good if you watched it tomorrow or in 10 years.

Ruby had the most enjoyable part!!! (Everyone went bananas tho). The fact that an 18 y/o (???) Girl can go that nuts on that type of obstacles is amazing! I want to get her pro board.

Fuck yeah Foundation, its good to see that this type of skateboarding videos is still real amongst all of todays bullshit.

ngl I thought this felt more like one of the newer Happy Medium reboots than a FOSKO flick. The blue sky intros, constant b-roll/lifestyle, music selection, jaws sighting, and the overall vibe/trick selection of the new squad.

The exception was Lindlof’s first part which felt classic foundation, all of his stuff was amazing. Ruby legitimately rips as well.

Halfcab nosegrind tailgrab on vert is such a cool trick idea. Ruby's the shit.

Really nice video. Jessie Darnall probably had my favorite part. While the video had some really good b-roll in there, it did feel like they went kinda overboard with it and the slow mo. Don't feel it got to the point where it became too tedious, but didn't feel necessary for them to try to be more artsy. Don Luong video's are already great!

right there with everyone else. i'll probably watch it again later, as i have done with the last few of their vids - i remember really digging whippersnappers and watching it a bunch.

they just feel like videos i would've actually owned and watched growing up. like actual, memorable videos - always with a perfect length and genuine vibe that makes you want to skate after (it's raining here unfortunately, but i would be skating right now). the female presence is dope and hasn't ever felt tokenistic. ruby's pretty all-time! not sure if i've seen a part from her. she's had good clips in stuff for a while though. i wish there was a tania cruz part, she's sick. jesse rips so hard and has such epic 80s style that is not at all gimmicky or weird.

a few things that i didn't enjoy (i guess they stood out because i was enjoying everything else so much) i found the kind of title thing and end credits a major aesthetic disconnect. like the black background with gritty texture and white text on it and the sound/music that was with it. there was also a foundation logo in the thrasher logo style over the footage at one point and that looked a bit cheesy.

look forward to the next foundation video.

The rest was just so generic

Also Jesse killed it when he was on scram

Leaving scram and Indy for foundation and slappy
Then your part is the closer and it’s basically b roll compared to previous stuff

He skated better when he wasn’t getting paid $500 a month

Ok....Thats a re-branding?

I felt watching a WNKD or Sci Fantasy video. I always loved how they kept their identity throught the years with big rail dudes on the team mixing it with low impact criative skaters.

Now its just cool wannabes  trying to show how they are happy and cute in the session.

Did not expect to be stoked on foundation skateboards in 2026 but here we are. Foundation doing all the right moves when a brand falls off.

New talent
New art
New direction

And most importantly a new video which displays the vision. Which is most important, cause a lot of brands will change. Historically I’ve never been a huge foskco fan. I never owned a board, but since they lost Corey flick they’ve seem to have gotten their shit together.

On the nose. Lovely vid.

Everything felt so balanced, couldn't say who had the best/favorite part. Aidan was great, Lawler was so smooth even if his part was a bit shorter then the rest, Ruby is so graceful even when going powerful, Austin is great and dreamy (big ups for the Bruc Campbell comp...I was thing along the lines of hunkier Christian Slater).

Then Lindlof got off and he legit deserved the closing part.

Yeah, the editing and the aesthetic were not "classic FSKCO", but it was a nice way to bring the F a bit more up to date with current trends. And the vid was short enough for it not to get grating.

The drainage ditch at 16:40 seems unfathomable to me. Have always looked at those and imagined how hard it would be to skate down. Insane.
