Round 1 - Jiro Platt vs Mark Suciu
-
fun concept. every once in a while Mark reminds you that he's one of the most talented dudes to ever step on a skateboard. that grate is fucking huge honestly you have to really haul ass at it
judging by the other guys that are there in the audience, should be some good games
-
That's what I'm talking about. I'll take little variations on games of SKATE like Slides 'n Grinds and King of MACBA any day of the week vs X Games, Street League, etc. Can always count on Quartersnacks.
I feel Suciu getting bundled twice in this shows how this thing is no joke, crazy they were just rifling off tricks first try. Those nollie heels were rad. Stretching nollie tricks over long flat gaps looks so good.
-
dang the floor at Flushing has seen better days...
good slams too!
-
Grate skating in this.
-
Many of those would have been a single in a video part 5+ years ago.
-
Loved it, keep'em coming!
-
I swear one day I’ll give a shit about Jiro Platt….
-
imo this is more of a "professional" game of skate than BATB. having no speed floor allows for too many dumb ass tricks that no one has ever practiced before like double heelflip variations. Jamie Griffin would get barbequed in this kind of competition (i am a huge fan of his too but lets be real)
Even the slides and grinds game of skate, they should make them go over a gap so they cant just go slow and tick the edge of a ledge. everything should be fast and stomped - that is what "professional" skateboarding should look like imo.
-
Finally something to replace dumb data’s stupid contest

are you DumbData or just have some weird obsession with him? It's like all you post about. Can't stand the dude but I'll give him some hate watch views every now and then. Someone commented "finally a game of skate series that isnt corny as hell" and DD replied "what's that supposed to mean?" lol
Good idea for a game though. Nice setting.

That’s what I was thinking. I’ve never been there, has ground always been that rough? It was so loud
-
S.K.A.T.E. has long been overdue for a fresh twist like this. judging by who's chilling on the sidelines i'm pretty sure mark is gonna take the whole thing.
adding that the ground has always been mildly crunchy but not soggy, pops well.
-
this was fantastic.
quartersnacks kills it.
-
Jiro hit the grate on the switch shove, what’s the rule on that, as long as it’s not egregious it counts?

Nawww Antonio might win because he’s going to every trick and then lift a foot off last second.
-
Nice twist on a classic.
-
Great concept, simple and fun. Somehow it’s easy to forget how good Mark Suciu is.
-
that was a nice watch. stoked to see the rest
-
is dennis busenitz in this? I think he's in the background when mark does the switch flip at 1:08
i suspect kader and frankie spears will be pretty entertaining (and of course antonio...) and even though karim's one of my favorites to watch i don't think he has a huge bag of tricks he can do at this speed. I hope I'm wrong though
-
Love when flip tricks look like marks nollie heel.
3/4 turn and it's like it almost pauses at the end but is still fast.
-
potential lineup looks like:
suciu
jiro platt
antonio durao
karim
cooper qua
johnny kumaglu
frankie spears
salomon cardenas
busenitz
kader
maybe marcello?
-
Like the concept, that grate is also not small in real life, I was surprised the first time I rolled up to it.
Always good to get a reminder of how good Suciu is as well. With the SOTY push and Verso he definitely got a (deserved?) rep for being up his own ass, but he's absolutely in the top 5-10 naturally gifted skateboarders of all time.
-
Grate skating in this.
Would gnar

Glad they only did like 30s of the hosts and than just right into the skateboarding. Most skate competitions are fun, its overfeatured cornball hosts that usually ruin them off the jump. Not saying dude necessarily a cornball but the half smoked spliff in hand is a cornball accessory in 2026. Im sure there all lovely people im mostly joking but less will always he more with the talking heads. Im glad they kept it at that.
I enjoyed this. Simple premise. No need to get to fancy with the rules or the concept. A game of skate, over a grate. Like rawb set i like that it acts as an deterrent to the circus shit.

I’d like the finals to be between António and someone named Nick
-
any nollie or fakie trick is so risky over that thing
-
Top youtube comment: Jiro dreams of Suciu ;D
-
Reminds me how much I love the sound of crunchy cement, and how beast Mark Suciu is
