In the new thrasher issue it said a Soty got kicked off their longtime shoe sponsor and put back on a week later after uproar from teammates and fans
-
Probably Appleyard? Maybe Silas but more likely apples.
-
Idk about kicked off, but wasn't Leo Romero in talks of getting on Vans? Had a pro shoe drafted for him and everything? I think Wheatley speaks about it in his Bunt episode

I remember that but this said it recently happened. I’m thinking it probably was Leo though
-
Milton?

do you have the exact wording ? because uproar from fans would mean this is public knowledge

Who would even be his Emerica teammates that would care
Joslin - Lakai is a zombie, not a long term sponsor
Foy - yeah right
Silvas - seems unlikely, but more likely than others
Tyshawn - yeah right
Suciu - seems unlikely, but more likely than others
Mason - seems unlikely, but more likely than others
Milton - believe injuries have slowed him down, converse in flux
Tyshawn - yeah right
Foy - yeah right
Walker - depends when this happened, they’ve been hyping his shoe again lately
Ave - would be shocked
Wes - no shoe sponsor
Ishod - would be shocked
David - shoe sponsor?
Grant - would be shocked
Leo - I guess
Wife beating POS - timeline off, but seems likely for being publicly booted and having vocal fans…don’t think thrasher would talk about it though
Silas - seems unlikely, but not someone I see having a vocal fan base either

very true

Leo and Appleyard are the only ones that seem plausible. Maybe Chris Senn.
-
Tony Hawk

It’s not this serious guys…

Nobody expects Salman Agah.
(The only SOTY besides maybe Senn that is genuinely hard to understand. I watched his footage from the year he won and it doesn’t seem like he’s anywhere near the only guy doing basic stuff switch. Help me out here.)

He was never super hyped, but in that era there wasnt the same hype machine blasting. Soty was not a serious thing, it was just a random theme for an issue of the magazine once a year, at least that's what it felt like from the outside. About as significant as the quartersnacks soty by todays standards. That said, Salman skated powerful and clean and had an air of mystery, a great soty imo.

And with respect to Senn becoming SOTY: He was charging like there was no tomorrow. He was gnarly.

Pretty positive it was Milton. I heard rumblings he was going to get cut with the new changes happening at Cons so I was surprised when I saw that story of him showing off his Cons box.
-
Appleyard was on circa when he won and quit for globe shortly after. I don’t think it was him
-
BA from Nike sb?
-
surprised that nobody mentioned cardiel or tnt. vans seems like they would be the company cutting skaters
-
My guess is Appleyard since he doesn't fit the current image of Globe. Was probably not renewed by a suit and tie, and then the whole team got upset? I can't imagine anybody else
-
I misread this whole situation, it’s prolly apples

And the ‘everyone is cut from cons’ rumors keep bubbling up

Danny Way
-
Is there a reason no one has considered Daewon or Koston?
-
Danny Way
Danny kicked himself off.
Still kinda crazy though to think that theres only a few months between his second soty in 04 and the plan b revival in 05. Sure that shit was in the works for a minute, I remeber there being a lot of hype. You could realistically say Danny way the only dude to ever win a soty, get "kicked off team" , join the team again, and win another soty. I didn't exactly happen that way but depending on what conversations Danny was having with whoever, theres a chance like figuratively the he was on plan b for the second one. Witch modern kookiness aside is a cool thing to be able to claim.
-
I think it was Foy in 2017….he wasn’t a big name back then, borderline flow program to SOTY. NB wasn’t a big deal back then either….
-
Feel like it must be someone who won it in the last like ~5 years or so, cause somebody like Koston or BA are SOTY winners, but it was far enough back that it doesn't seem like a distinguishing factor or like one of the first things you think of with them
So Milton would make sense, cause if you heard he got kicked off, you'd immediately be like "oh, that guy just won SOTY semi-recently", whereas with like Leo it might take a minute to remember he got it even

And it’s definitely an event that happened this year. I don’t think thrasher would be coy (or post it in what I assume was the news section) unless it just happened
-
Milton?
I don't have the status of any Euro TM....but it was Milton. Just to end the guessing.
-
Case Closed. Thank you for your service!

He was in Diamond Footwear with Biebel back then, lol
-
Smooooooooooooooooooooookes
-
Putting him back on kinda deflates the “demise of cons” narrative, no?
-

case already closed but everyone who said Appleyard: having a hard time imagining Austyn Gillette, Sammy Montano, Christian Malouf, and Val Bauer getting all that upset about Apples leaving Globe lol he's turned into a bit of a conservative jock in his old age and doesn't even remotely fit in with the rest of those guys at all
-
I’m pretty sure it’s Danny Way. He got kicked off DC not long ago then put back on right away.
Although I recently saw him wearing vans half cabs.

Hmm sounds like you might be on to something.
-
I don’t think Danny or Colin have been involved in like 5-10 years
-
They actually had a sliver ownership and made some good dough when it was bought out..
