Title: stokes and thanks
Post by: whiteley on August 24, 2009, 03:31:06 PM
I just posted a blog up:
http://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1500&Itemid=35 (http://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1500&Itemid=35)

it's basically about what a fucked up July I had and needing to take stock of the good things in the aftermath, just a little collection of day-to-day things that lifted my spirits, from videos to dogs to phone calls to music to books to junk- and last but not least, interacting with all the Pals here on the site.  You can read it all in there but let me just give a little word up to everybody- my favorite part of the whole "switch to digital" has been the give and take with everybody here on the boards, so thanks...

It's always good to come through a bad month and have it be in the past. I've had plenty of those times in the past few years and am in a similar boat to you, on the upward now. I'll be looking forward to the book being released.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I think about the potential of this place all the time. The combination of a core skater, that you don't know, combined with their avatar and/or sig has so much potential for brilliance. Knowledge is power. Sorry listening to nas, haha.  :)

and also, Portuguese water dogs are pretty dope. i know that they look like giant ass poodles, kinda sorta, but they're super cool. this dude luke i know, whose a fishing boat captain, brings his dog Bella to the skate park all the time, and she's super cool. she's better than mostof the locals, super mellow, doesn't chase boards, and likes to lick. check em

australian cattle or shepherd dogs are one of the best dogs in my opinion. The MILO foundation is a great place to get a dog form, and they are right in the bay area. When I was looking they had lots of australian cattle/shepherd dogs and many more. Check it, http://www.milofoundation.org/

Those dogs can also be the worst if you don't have a lot of space for them to run and get out energy on a daily basis or a lot of time to spend with them and tire them out. I've seen them get REAL neurotic when they don't get the amount of attention that they need. They are rad dogs though. Super smart.

I want one of these guys sooooo bad. Great family dog from what I've heard/read.

thanks for all the mental support everybody! glad to have your digital backing.
as for the book, awesome, stoked you guys are interested! really psyched for it. it'll be out in mid-october and i'm gonna put together an article here that'll have a chunk of photos and the captions and all that. gonna do a show in SF and i think one in tokyo as well, both in october.
on the dog tip-- i've been around portuguese water dogs, australian cattle dogs, pugs and a couple of the others posted before, all definitely cool dogs. albatross, what kind of dog is that in the pic you posted? sleazy, i'm definitely down with any dog that eats blueberry pie, that's awesome. rightcoastbiased, thanks a lot for that milo link- had never heard of that and it looks great!
anyhow, thanks guys, definitely cool to keep all this going with everybody! appreciated.

yeah, I'm reading through this thread and thinking to myself 'how delisunonal are these guys?' austrailan sheppards, cattle dogs, border collies; while they might be some of the smartest breeds of dogs, they tend to go crazy. thats actually an understatement; unless you're living on a ranch somewhere in the mid west I highly recommend NOT getting one of these guys. Its inhumane to keep these types of dogs in an apartment, or on a dog run in your yard for eight hours a day. My house is surrounded by five dairy farms, all of which have aussies and border collies. These dogs get bored fast, and even though these farms have literally hundreds of acres for them the dogs still sit near the road day and night waiting to unsuspecting cars and trucks. During my lifetime four of these dogs have gotten killed chasing cars (coincdentally three have been killed by milktrucks) so if you really are considering getting yourself one of these guys and live in a city or urban area, please reconsider!
