is it just me? i hate this sorry excuse for a holiday. it's always a let down and no one knows that shitty song.

I always seem to end up standing in a queue to a bar or arguing with someone when the year changes. A reclusive cottage new year's eve has to happen in the near future.

I've only ever had two good new years celebrations.
One where nobody ate any of the party food and I sat there for 4 hours eating and drinking.
And another where me and my bird forgot all about new years and stayed up making porn of clay models.

I'll be working, which may or may not be an improvement to letdown parties and amateur nights at the bar.

when i was in high school i used to think "once i get into college it'll be fun"
once in college it became "once i get a girl it'll be fun"
once i got a girl it became "once i start working professoinally and don't have to work it'll be fun"
once i started working professionally and was married to my wife i ran out of excuses and we both just gave up on it. it's such a huge stretch for us to even make it to midnight and then the crowds make it annoying and boring and there's nothing to do but drink and wait till midnight these days and by that time your so drunk because you started with dinner at 7 that you've passed the fun "freaky sex' drunk and are firmly in "fight all the way home about dumb shit" drunk.
it's just fucked and i have no idea how it's just a huge thing because i just can't imagine how it'd be enjoyable.

Glad I'm not alone on this, I hate it too. It's always never that fun, house parties are ok but going out on new years sucks, especially for me here where I'm constantly hounded by fat ugly women.

Each year I go to a country farmhouse with 20 close friends who all know each other really well and have a great party. The key is just to stick with people you know and like, and try to avoid going to a bar/nightclub

I'm not a fan of New Years, but it could be that way because I've had a girlfriend every New Years since I started caring about plans for the evening, and I'm a considerate boyfriend that doesn't get drunk and fuck strangers. So we'll see how this thing goes this year.

New Years at the bar definitely sucks, you've got every chongo motherfucker in a 80 mile radius wearing his gay silver tie and begging girls to kiss him at 12 o'clock.
Last year I was so over it, I just started smoking cigarettes in the club. (Banned in British Columbia) I got kicked out, then proceeded to go to the local all night pizza joint, and lit up there as-well. Only to have the owner laugh at me kind of like " What are you doing? you have to go" in-between hysterics.

new years is ok, man. it's another night to spend time with good friends, eat some food, listen to some good music, maybe play music, kiss a pretty girl, and laugh. I gave up hoping for outrageous nights on new years a while ago, going out is overrated, on new years or any other night anyways.
this year i'm going over a friends place, gonna play some games, drink it up a bit, cook calzones, and hopefully make out with the cute girl who usually chills over there when i'm around. The next day i'll go to work at 3pm and get paid double time, what's there to complain about?
although, last year was a bust. i was pretty depressed and new years threw it into overdrive and i tried to join the navy... what a debacle.
the year before that i had just gotten back home after spending a few months couch surfing in carolina. the party i went to was full of junkies who were pretending that they didn't know the others were jammed up.
spent the two prior with my girlfriend of the time, both were reallly good nights.
the one before that was in the mountains in a sick cabin with some fungus and dope peach cobbler.
a new years filled with PMA is a great thing, makes the year feel ok from the get go!

One year we brought some beer and champagne to the back of an alley of a bar we couldn't get into and did the countdown there. About ten minutes later, people were wandering out the back to have smokes, and by 12:30 we had a large chunk of the bar partying with us outside.
We left them to go to a bar, never to see them again. It was like Breakfast Club.

Fuck new years eve. I have had the best times on nights that arnt commissioned "party nights" but one of my most memorable drunken nights was on a New Years Ever where I didn't want to be there.
I was with a girl for a few months, then suddenly right before Christmas she wouldnt talk to me anymore. I called her for a few days then just said "fuck it" and went about my life. On NYE she called me and told me that she had been hooking up with my friend this past week, and she was sooo sorry and all sorts of shit. I was like 18 or 19 and it just threw me for a harsh one. I decided to go to a house party that some fuckface I went to High School with threw, and it was the WORST. I was just walking around drinking and ended up blacking out before midnight.
I heard in the morning that the following happened. I was found in the bathroom butt naked in the bathroom, sitting on the toilet in the "thinking mans" pose, with one fist right up under my chin. I don't remember how I got dressed or out of there, but I guess I made my way onto a couch, where a girl tried to fight my passed out body a few hours later. I woke up, left, and have never talked to those fuckers again. Falling asleep butt naked because I was just feeling miserable about my life is punishment enough.

As a pretty competent drunk, I too feel that NYE is serious amateur hour. All I wanna do is get shitty with my friends and talk about how fucking good Matt Reason's 411 Profile was. Going out on NYE is a surefire way to get annoyed by a bunch of turds who can't handle their likker. A house party is usually the best remedy.
Speaking of which, if it was considerably closer, I would drive up to Rawb's show in a heartbeat. Party of the newborn decade right there, fo sho.

Caught a cold so my new year plans are sorted.
i just caught a fucking cold too i cuold be fucked for tomorrow. i have spent the morning sleeping at my desk cause my boss is on holidays and no one has came into the store. i am hoping to get through being sick cause i want to rap at this house party. i took a bunch of cold FX tablets and i am drinking green tea. hopefully this will cure status ailment and heal my HP. wow, they still got that runway that sticks out over the water? shit used to sketch me out when we'd fly through there. my dad lives in kuala lumpur right next to the twin towers and the downtown looks pretty epic too. guess asia is going crazy with the cities these days.
i'd be pretty hyped on new years in hong kong. those guys are going to have a killer fireworks show.

Sleazy - Unfortunately, they closed the old airport down a while ago. I know what you mean though. I had the dubious pleasure of landing there some years ago. The new airport is around 25 mins out of town by train, but it's a lot less exciting.

I'm having a bonfire at the bottom of my hill tonight. Luckily for us, it just snowed six inches this morning. i kind of agree here. i mean it is the "new" year but at the same time why do banks have to close early? woke up to see that a shitload of new paypal money came in to my account on my bank's website, drove all the way over there, and can't get the it now until saturday because they're closed tomorrow as well. i worked at a restaurant toting around 80 pound tubs as a busboy on new years once... why can't people who get paid more to sit down and type a few buttons on a computer be able to work until 5 p.m.? fucking dumb.

i usually have good new years but this time my girlfriend of 4 years broke up with me 2 days ago. i was going to go to a friend's party anyway, but when night came i was still super depressed, and i ignored my friends' phone calls for parties and just went skating alone downtown. ending up meeting up with some friends at a spot and had a rad session.
but then i came home, and am now alone, watching "bad lieutenant" at 2 AM, stone cold sober and visiting this message board. fuck.

That was certainly the highlight of my night. Narrowly beating defusing a fight between my friend who couldn't stand and a large fellow who was quite obviously looking for a fight and having to listen to two other friends bitching and whining that I was no where to be found while they were fighting. Fuckin travesty, it was. I swear to god one of these assholes just can not handle alcohol in a public place. Lesson learned.

i spent the day sick as shit and going to doctors. worked halft a day from home, swung by the local shop and got a new board and wheels and then had dinner with my mother in law and family at a steak house right down the road. finished of the night with my vaporizor and some frosty nugs topped of with some nyquil d. don't really remember much after that but it was a pretty low key night. wanted to start the new years with a session but i think the drugs got me feeling better than i actually am so probably just work all day to try and catch up on my hours.

the amount of idiocy I had to tolerate sucked dick, but drinking with co workers and bosses while working rocked in comparison to the average day, aside from the insane amount of cheap party favors i had to clean from the floors it was actually one of the better "new years eves" in memory

i blacked out most of the night because the bar by my house had every nights special drink on special last night. decided we'd take all the liquor shots and have a few of the beers....at 7pm. then drank at some random place with my girlfriend that i got dragged to. smoked a lot of some rich dudes weed and dont remember having much fun. this morning when i woke up she asked me if i still "felt like a floating vegetable"....

went to a small party and kicked it out with some cool folks as well as some not so cool folks. While there i drank many beers, Old Chubb was the greatest of the night. After midnight i went out and shot off the bottle rocket that was sent to me in the Cardiel Haiku contest prize package, i'd been saving it for a good night.
Throughout the night i'd been talking with this one young lady who i'm coming to know fairly well. I'm trying to move beyond friend level before it's the only stage that's available. So anyhow, we're kicking it all night, drinking, talking, and what not. She had had her parents drop her off at the apartment so that she wouldn't have to drive home... I think that i've got an ace in the hole as far as sharing the couch goes. Things were looking great. Well, this weird scenario comes up and somehow because the people who had me over have known this girls parents since they were kids called them and invited them into the party around 1am. So, they come... Well, i start drinking brews with her father and he's trying to sell me his daughter saying things like "oh yeah, she's a great kid. goes to nursing school, real nice girl... What do you do?" I'm fairly borderline belligerent at this point and i'm talking to this guy, i held it down fairly well. So aside from making vicious jokes about AIDS and the mom hearing me, i'm ok. Well, 2something AM rolls around and she and i are hanging out in the bathroom talking some more. We move to the bedroom of my friends who threw the shindig and we start eye fucking one another. Well, the mom walks in and says "ok honey, we're going to give you a ride home..." and looks at me. the girl says "but, mom in a little bit" and the mom starts getting pissed and gives me the stankiest stank eye that i've had in a long time. With that, i get an elongated hug that could have been oh so much more, and they leave.
I'm 24 years old and still getting cockblocked by mothers. fuckin a.
all in all though, it was a dope night playing beer pong to minor threat.

I went to a party my friend was DJing at what I think is a photo gallery or something by day, but was an empty concrete room with adjacent apartment for the evening. Mainly hung out with my lady-roommate and chain smoked while talking about other people at the party we wanted to sleep with. Also ran into some SLAP pals - actually a pretty good night for an event I usually hate.

I went to some sketchy party full of people I didn't even know. I had a bunch of liquor to myself, and so I went pretty overboard on it... ended up throwing up in a sink, and then getting into a fight with some kid because I told him I would "fuck his bitch" hahaha.
