just wondering if anyone does this...I might start because bones bushings & bigger wheels w/high trucks make it easier to skate the mini I always skate (which is not that wide), but that setup doesn't really feel "right" for for ledge/manual/flat stuff...

I have a different set-up that I skate pools with, but it's really not necessary. The only reason I have it is because of some extra money I had lying around.

I think a lot of skaters do this, especially if they can afford to maintain multiple boards. If I learned how to skate pools and bowls one day, I'd love to have a setup specific to that, even though I already ride 55-58mm wheels on street.
You could also just try to get used to the bigger wheels on street tricks.

the wheels are the only thing that make a huge diff. i ride 58mm at parks and 53mm on street although i can still flip the board and skate ledges with the 58mm wheels they are just a little heavy i also skate a 8.5 for everything

i change out my wheels for tranny and street, i used to loosen my trucks to skate tranny, but its became way too much of a hassle to do that every time i skate

a friend of mine rides 8.00 for street and 8.25 for parks
both with the same truck sizes and wheel sizes.
when he told me this i punched him straight in the vagina.

I would go all OCD trying to figure out which board i should use, when. Sounds fun if you have a car and could bring both set-ups though.

My pool board is an 8.75 Ben Schroeder, so I don't really have a hard time choosing when to use it. I actually just mostly use it for cruising and loaning out to friends who want to try it. It's kind of a community board.

i have three set ups now, it's what you do when you're old...you get more boards...and skate less...
right now I got my regular day to day street set up.....I also have a cruiser set up, like some oldschool deck w. big indy's and big wheels, i used to have a vert set up, but I took it a part, but now I'm going to set up a big bowl set up. I'll use it once a year....

Yeah... I ride an 8.25 & 56mm wheels at the park (mainly for skating our bowl) and an 8 with 50-54mm wheels on my street setup, but I don't stick to that religiously or anything. If I only have one board in the car I'll just ride that.

Just realised yesterday that i should have different setups, i prety much always skate street so when i went to the local miniramp on my 7.63 deck and 50mm hard as fuck wheels i felt a tad out of place, but hey it worked so whatever

the only 8.75 production deck I can think of is that Deathwish "green monster" or whatever, so either you just bought that to be the trendiest, widest board kid at the park or you're lying.

Small companies like Deckcrafters, Old Man Army and the like have ~9"-10" wide hybrid old/new school shapes. Socalskateshop carries a lot of that stuff...super wide decks that are designed for the older skater that mostly rides transition/parks.
Just because CCS or whatever doesn't sell them doesn't mean they don't exist.

Back when there was an actual vert ramp to skate out here, I rocked two setups. An 8.5 with bigger wheels for airing out on the ramp, and a 7.75 with more normal sized wheels for the street. Now that I'm back to one main set up, I just rock an 8.

8.25/Indy 149s/54mm
ATV set-up. You can either do a trick, or you can't......tired of hearing "I can't flip anything over 8 inches" or "I can't get to the coping without 60mms"

lol it is that deathwish board, I posted in the set up thread a few ago and you know that, you're just trying to be a dick, and I hardly ever skate the park anymore.

I have never heard of those companies, and I do not live in California so anything called "socalskateshop" doesn't apply to me.

yeah, I have a normal street setup and an old school-ish cruiser. (+ a little toy mini board) I'd still like to get a smaller cruiser, like a zip zinger or zz nano.

I just have an 8 with 53s and Indy 139s that i use for whatever and I cruiser board that's about a 7.5.
I've thought about getting a vert board but now I'd only use it in the summer probably since there's no big vert where I live now.
