He's a local from my hometown and met him a few times. I heard he quit to join the army.

Bummer when anyone with that much talent quits, but then again it says a lot about that person, especially if they are quitting to join the army. I'm with Gipper on this one.

Exactly. If he "quit" as in trying to go somewhere with his skating, that's one thing but to quit like "I don't want to skate anymore" that's just crazy. But people do that. He wouldn't be the first and not the last one to do that.
I can see how people sort of fade out from skating / something else they had a passion for over time but to decide that you're over it in an instant seems fucking weird.

Heard from a good friend of his that he's trying to become a Marine or something.
Hopefully he'll keep skating at least a little bit, there are plenty of dudes in the military that still skate when they can, its just a question of if the guy still wants to or not.
