AM 90, 1's. Or some new balances are always good.
I had the free runs, really light. But really soft, had a couple quick tweaked ankles with them.

Vibram Fivefingers. Should be especially good for rehabbing since they work the muscles.
I'm no expert, and I don't really run much, but I believe the hype enough to own a pair and I've really like them. The idea is that you don't need shock absorbing when your foot muscles have a chance to work and take the hits, instead of your joints.

I got a pair of New Balance MR790's about two years ago to avoid getting my usual winter gut. No fancy technology, but they're comfortable, light, breathe really well, and didn't cost a pile of cash. Dunno if they still make the model but I'm sure they'll have something similar.

Keep it OG with some AirMax97's
Whatever you do, don't get a nike shoe that features Lunarlon cushioning. It compresses much faster than the average foam.

Vibrams KSOs are keeping me good for trail running. Nike Lunaracers for streets. I wouldn't say the Vibrams are cool for all folks. Takes a minute to get your new stride down and stubbed toes can be a fucking bummer.

I've ran since before I skated, so I still keep up with it in the mornings. Took a break at 18-21. Started out again and saw some improvement in my skating. Good luck man.

im amazed by the fact that two people on here admit to having toe shoes within 14 hours

They are only gay when you walk across a field and flowers get stuck between your toes.

They're good for jumping in water.

I think Nikes are a bit overpriced/hyped for running shoes. Plus they don't fit my feet too well. If you go to real running store, most of them will analyze your feet (arches, instep, heel width, natural stride, etc.) and recommend a shoe based on that. It really helped me out.

I'm old as shit and I gotta do other exercises besides skating to stay in shape. I don't jog but I do lots of plyometrics and calisthenics and my shoe of choice are Sauconys. I've had 2 pairs of the grid line and they were both super comfortable and cushy. Way more comfortable than any skate shoe I've owned in the past 5-10 years.

agreed, their running shoes might not look the coolest, but they are easily the most comfortable and best for me. i went to a small running shoe store and paid some extra $ to make sure that I was getting what was the best for my feet, knees, & back.

air max 1s and air max 90s? have you seen any of these within the last 10 yrs? running is the last thing on nikes mind when selling these. theres maybe 1/50 releases that's even half of what a running shoe should be today

I would not recommend running if you already have an injury that prevents you from skating. I'd get weird knee pains from unconsciously favoring one leg. Cycling or swimming perhaps?
My favorite running shoe was the New Balance m587 (keep in mind New Balance tailors shoes for various "problems"). Definitely stay away from the Nike Air Max 90s as they angle downwards and put stress on your toes.
-
You guys never roll your ankles with Vibrams? I know that sounds dumb since it is just running but it just looks like an accident in the making.
-
No. That's what your feet are meant to do, walk, run, jump. Namean?
-
I don't know any actual runners who'd recommend Air Max's or Nike Shox. It's kinda like skaters recommending DC Court Graffik's or Etnies Callicuts. Your best bet are Brooks, Asics, or Puma's. Brooks are super comfortable. I just ran my first marathon in the Puma Complete Velosis and they held their own.
-
yeah don't get any of that thin bullshit. If you plan on actually running long distance like 6 miles plus a day go for the Adidas Supernova Sequence 4's. They'll have you on support. But if you're just getting them for gym class like running the mile weekly or some bullshit it really doesn't matter what you run in as long as they are athletic shoes.
-
If you're really flat footed, check out the Addiction made by Brooks.

this is key advice right here.

this is also key advice. I used to run. Its great for staying fit but its super high impact and hard on the bod. not good for injuries.

I didn't really realize how uncomfortable skate shoes are until I bought some Nike pegasus. Those lunar racers don't look too bad also, I might pick up a pair just to wear around. I pretty much just keep my skate shoes in the trunk and wear them only during skate sessions now.
-
Vibram KSOs for sure, but one thing you really need to know is that you should just start running with them right off the bat. You need to wear them around, not to break them in, but so the muscles in your feet that aren't usually working get used to the new shoe. I work at an Any Mountain and a Vibram rep came the other day and talked to us about it so if you do get them, which i suggest you do, dont fuck your feet up and go balls out out of the box!
-
For running shoes, i normally prefer Reebok or New Balance. My feet are totally flat, so I always like some arch support in my shoes
-
thanks yall, ended up getting these
