Actually though, in a way, Markovich won it. No matter who did the gnarliest trick down a famous gap, the dude who kickflipped it first always gets special recognition.
I bet more people remember who kickflipped Wallenberg than who hardflipped it.

shoulda went dude! my mom was in the area when i was 15 for a medical conference and i made her take me there. i ollied it in a helmet in front of my parents lol. good times. its a sad day in skating. and yeah j wray won that gap. fs 360, bs heelflip, frontside flip... the list goes on. im sure he would shed a tear at the sight of those pictures

When I went around 98 I was thinking "it's just like an 11 stair." The gap for some reason seemed scarier, pretty big and the landing is slippery as fuck. One of the team homeys, TJaden ollied it. Nobody else got anything. The small one on the side was sick but bars were up blocking the takeoff.

Reynolds switch backside heelflip wasn't my favorite looking trick down the gap, but the half cab flip is pretty incredible. I'm with Gipper though, Markovich/Dyrdek deserve some recognition for being the first guys to flip their board down it, I'll remember that hideous kickflip cover before any other tricks hahaha. What exactly did Merlino throw down Carlsbad?

Consider it confirmed. 3 inch long metal guys right in there. They might be removable, and seem like they are anchored and glued in, but not screwed in, but its not skateable anymore, not even as a manual really unless you are really really careful. Damned shame. Those were the best ledges in the world, they were so perfect, and there were a bunch of them!
I went to the place Kalis dubbed "LA Love" in the P. Rod bricklayers the other day and most of the ledges had bolts in them.
And give it a rest with the Reynolds shit, y'all saying that are some young'ns looking at it with no perspective. Reynolds has done a bunch of good shit on it, no doubt, but what he was doing down it never completely outclassed what other people were doing on it at the time, but Jeremy did.
Actually, I wouldn't even put Reynolds second, I'm sure a bunch of kids who started skating after Kasperholics will think I'm a kook, but Josh Kasper fucking killed that thing too.

I went and looked at it a long time ago and it is huge. Plus I think there is a elevator shaft up it now that blocks it from being skateable.

I live 20 minutes away from Carlsbad High, and I think I've only seen that gap once. Just like Markovich said in the video clip, I remember thinking it's not as big as I thought it was, but I still wouldn't skate it unless I was going to ollie it.
