I can spend a long weekend in one or the other, not both. Which do I choose?
I care about:
- skate options
- exploring the city (on a skateboard, not a bus or car or something)
- commerce/business/industry (I like factory tours and things like that, but on a weekend I guess it's not relevant anyway)
I don't really care about:
- nightlife
- shopping
- beaches
- typical tourist stuff like snapping photos in front of famous things I could see just as well on Google
Suggestions?

I went to both cities in 2010, because I came all the way from europe and didnt just want to go to one of them. I liked SF a lot more. LA was ok too, but just to get arround the city without a car, the fun hills, classic spots (even tough a lot were skatestopped already) in SF... If I had the same options you have, it would be a no-brainer to choose SF!

Thanks for the input. I was kind of thinking SF, too. I just like the SF skating I see in videos more than the stuff I see from LA.

If you like factory tours, go to SF Armory. It is by the famous 3 up 3 down spot and there is a porn production company in the building and they do tours ;D Unfortunately we were too late and couldnt take one because everything was booked for that time...

Don't go to LA.

That's Kink.com
And SF for sure, unless you've got a tour guide and car, fuck LA.
Being in SF, you can also come to the East Bay, plenty of good shit to skate out here.

SF it is, going out memorial day weekend. Thanks for the tip up there about that armory tour, might check it out.

Sf for sure. Do the anchor steam brewery tour. Whiteley used to give tours to visiting pals, but I don't know about "Slap admin" doing the same.
For photos, golden gate bridge is obvious, but you should go to the full house park too, its called Alamo Square park.
You can skate from anywhere to anywhere in that city, though buses and bart are recommended
