Probably because those shoes provided better support, cushioning and durability than shoes that are produced today.

I was going to go looking for these and then I found your post. I loved this shoe like no other. This and the original Kareems on Axion...those are my 2. I don't have skate and chill shoes...always just have the one pair that I wear to death.

felt like normal for me not to thick tonge, the insoles are amazing on them when you get them you'll see, im not sure how to describe it but arounf the tow edge on the sidewall type thing right bellow that brown gum part, theres some stitching with string, and once it starts to wear down from kickflips, the hole were the strign goes through gets bigger and you get a hole, only complaint though still sick shoes.

The pre-skate campus' were a little more sturdy in the sole, and allthough i really like the busenitz too, these were the best shoes i've ever skated. Ever.
they were basically surgical gloves for your feet. Best boardfeel.
