Take a look: http://issue.skateboardermag.com/ (http://issue.skateboardermag.com/)

IMO this looks like a good approach, I only with I could download this as a PDF and keep it on my phone/tablet ...

Damn. The Pluhowski interview is definitely worth a read.

Great content as usual from Skateboarder. My biggest complaint is that the loading time on a magazine is much faster.

Ya, loading time sucked and it's buggy.. I mean it's not as bad as the slap online edition, but f.e. the sounds were really unnecessary and stupid, maybe it just seemed that way because they never played at the right time for me, really confusing. Also crashed my browser (firefox) when i tried clicking past the last page. Why is it so hard to make that shit work proper? I think they really need to figure this shit out to succeed.

Content is pretty good!

edit: clicked through it one more time, and there were no autoplay sounds now - i guess i accidentally clicked on something then, strange though, happened a few times.

Is Mikey taylor a christian? Just with the baby, the wife, the young age, the overly happy dimena makes me think he might jump around on a sunday praisin jesus.

Well done initial online offering!  There were certainly some kinks, but I enjoyed the integration of all the content.
Are the rest of the issues going to be free to view also?

I thought it was funny when they advertised the end of the print mag as a good thing, but have to say this is pretty good!

Plus, I got $19 in the mail from them this week for the rest of my subscription.

I hope they can keep this up. I wish Slap had done the same thing.

I started to go through the content more and checked out the Mikey Taylor interview. He was surprisingly candid about the benefits of new media in skateboarding. That level of honesty is rare in a mainstream skateboard media outlet.

They've had digital offerings of their print mags on iTunes for a while now but this fully digital mag is sick. you can download it on an iPad & it runs pretty good. its a 455 MB just for this one issue but other than the large file size its pretty good shit.

He isn't as young as he seems. I remember being really surprised while reading an interview with him a few years ago where he said he was 27 so he has got to be at least 30 now.

If you click the Issues button in the top left corner, you get a petty extensive library of old issues:
http://issue.skateboardermag.com/library (http://issue.skateboardermag.com/library)

Anyone tried to download these issues? There's supposed to be an iOS app, but I've got an Android phone, so I can't test it out.

Why would you care if he was?

Mikey is awesome, his DC part last year was amazing and I didn't think he'd be able to top it honestly because he's been around forever but it looks like he's still out there killing it. I really liked the format, it's not perfect, but they'll get the bugs worked out.

I'm backing Rob Pluhowski.
Needs more interviews like that, where people straight up speak their mind.

Yep, people with a general disdain for the skateboard industry and its characters need more coverage.

For anyone interested, here's his tumblr.  Makes some really nice stuff.

I appreciated the candor as well, but there was a definite 'whoa' for me when he was speculating on the number of followers a skater has being equated to their general worth as a company asset. Shouldn't be surprised, I guess, but I hope that's never actually the case.

it makes sense from a marketing standpoint. its kinda the same in the music industry as well. i dont think it should be THE deciding factor when sponsoring someone or turning them pro, but if someone has hundreds of thousands of followers on twitter/instagram who comment & respond to everything they post its safe to say that theyll sell some product.
