We're entering a new age, a dark age, a dark SLIDE age.

and it begins...
-
better than no-complying every damn flat piece of land.

better than no-complying every damn flat piece of land.
I'm ok with both. Better than the same damn fliptricks down the same stair sets or the same freaking tailslide combos.
-
oh god.... the new trend is dark slides? laaaaame.
-
CK1's really hard rail tricks right into really hard flip tricks off the curb at the recent berrics thing made me think that stepping up your quick-foot game to Suciu levels might be a new trend. As trends go, good be a pretty cool one. Would like to see some people busting out the best of their flatground game right after hitting something big.
That, and Mango's 50-50 a big ole rail to manual to front shuv down a set made me think there's a lot of rail to manual variations that would actually be awesome.
Oh, and I'm interested in what the footage of this cover could possibly look like. Not that Wes has ever done a bad looking trick.
-
oh god.... the new trend is dark slides? laaaaame.
no that is wes kremer fucking around and getting cover for it!
also taking greco the fuck out

Mr. Rowley has a nice darkslide
-
lol so weird
-
very nice. looks like the scariest fucking trick to try going down something
-
"sooo sickkkkk i'm buying 3 sheets of grip with my next board"
-
This trend is the most awesome thing for us non sponsored skaters. Tearing the living shit out of your griptape and mangeling your board is genius. Also high five to the high water tight pants with tucked in shirt combo, skating is looking up nowadays ::)
-
Kickflip krooked primo grind. You guys are all three days ago.
-
half-kickflip or half-heelflip on? cant really tell
-
Must be nice to be able to do whatever the fuck you want on a skateboard.
-

Looks like a heelflip but either way this is fucking stupid, first Greco's part was ruined with a stupid as dark slide down a skatepark rail and now this. I bet Greco already regrets that ender....
-
Well, between this and Greco, at least we now know that it takes about 20 years for most pros to catch up to Rodney.
-
i bet the footage looks like shit

that fancy footwork is inherently what makes those bros so enjoyable to watch skate. Obviously an enviable skill, speaking for myself, I'd be fucking suchooing into and out of everything, on all manner of planetered ledges, not givin zero fucks about my frequent violation of rules pending to angular momentum.
Bros should skate how they see fit. For every Braydon you need a TimTim, for every Gagne one Brock, for every Decenzos bros, a Zattoni Brothers. You see where I'm going with this...good skateboarding is like trying to decide "what is pornographic?"--the answer is the same, you know it when you see it. Fuck the trends.
Plus, if you purposefully try and skate trendy by definition you're a huge gay, totally upriver, and yurr blowin it
-

Rowley and Boulala pioneered the novelty of people that aren't Mullen doing darkslides a decade ago.

Except 1.) they didn't do it on rails (I guess maybe we can count that rail-ledge hybrid in Lyon), 2.) they weren't 360 flipping into them, and 3.) I said most, not all. Good try though. (Oh, and Boulala barely rode away from his one in Sorry and I don't remember seeing him to one after that. You could have said Haslam, but even then, he's super tech so he wouldn't be the best counterexample either.)

I remember there being a Mike Youssefpour Birdhouse ad of him darksliding a pretty decent sized rail in like '92. I'm sure it was caveman and a bail, but it was still pretty sick that he got on there.

haha i was kidding cause im not that kind of guy but greco's last trick was a darkslide on a tiny rail he built and was done in all seriousness where wes did it on a tall mellow rail as a dork trick that happened to get cover because he did it with style

god, thats a horrible trend.

I like to call them "Scientology rails". Bringing your own rail and bolting it into a stair set is horrible. Greco blew it by having that as his last trick....so many others in his part would have fit.
-
wow... greco brought back the darkslide.

This cover is funny because it is almost like a SLAP social experiment; "let's take a skater that everyone loves, and lets have him do a trick that we know people will hate on and see what happens".

The one good thing i will say about Wes' darkslide....

Hey Kalis, can you clarify wether it's a half heel or kickflip? :)
...this darksliding stuff always gets me pretty confused! Not that many people can make it look pretty (or even make it), and I think it's a weird direction to go with skateboarding - but then it's also pretty mindblowing and Rodney for sure can make it look good :-)

Goddamn that's amazing!

Yes, Sorry is amazing.
Apparently Wes rode away from this darkslide with good speed and Rowley and Rodney usually ride away super clean.
And because my nerd side is overpowering my don't give a shit side, I'm king to guess he heelflipped into it.

Greco was way gnarlier. It was on at least a knee high rail.

visually i felt the cover would've been much better had the photo frame been right when he was on top of the board sliding, but either way its gnarly shit. wes kremer is a beast.
i do hope the darkslide shit doesnt take off TOO much tho. down this thing its dope but i can only imagine all the youtube fuckboys doing the ugliest darkslides & the most randomest of pro's tryna take em to every famous ledge. its a trick thats cool in moderation, but can very easily get played out.

Wes Kremer rules. Dude is high as fuck, mucking around on some rail, somebody shoots it and now its cover. What a champion.
-
Definitely wouldn't classify darksliding as a "trend" just because two people have done them within the last month.
Could see this shit popping off with the berrics minded youngsters in the near future, tho.
I've always thought they were kindof dope so I don't give a fuck, regardless
Some kind of darkslide popped out into a regular grind on a ledge on some THPS combo shit would be pretty cool.
Has anyone done a frontside darkslide yet?

I like that weird mullen tricks are making even a slight comeback. dark slides, caspers, and primos all within the last 6-7 months and in pro parts

This is super sick. I just hope darkslides dont "blow up" mainly so I don't have to deal with scraping little bits of griptape off of the ledge at the park.

A genius one. We all know griptape companies have been suffering losses for years because a board usually is gripped only once. Now however, with Greco and Kramer partnering with their grip sponsors, this darkslide trend will change everything. The time to invest in Grizzly is now.
