EDIT- I feel I should put a spoiler alert on this, as some of you might want to be surprised.
WOW.
Ok, so someone already posted the comment from AVE about skating for corporate shit being lame, but there are some other heavy hitters in the issue.
- Billy Marks interview is both eye opening and fucking depressing. Sinclair interviews him and he goes into why he's not on Fallen and it's basically due to Jamie telling him he wasn't doing anything "good" despite skating in Street League, getting photos in mags and skating in the Berrics shit constantly. Jamie still wants him to stay on Fallen for a few months to use his footage in a video, but Billy is not having it.
-Billy is also asked what it would take for him to get kicked off Toy Machine and he says that Trapasso was embezzling money from Toy to start LE and trying to steal riders and even he didn't get kicked off.
-Dill has a pretty funny sidebar about how shitty Element is for being pro-environment yet they cut down trees and use toxic glue to make skateboards and even funnier is how he admits to being a total pile for years, putting forth an effort for one year and suddenly everyone thinks he's awesome and on his dick and for that he thinks skateboarding is awesome.
-Jordan Taylor said he almost didn't get on Toy because Trapasso thought he was "fat and wack" and he also has some great opinions on the big contests and energy drinks.

Dude got really injured and was out for 2 years? Hyped he's gettin healthy on his own time and he puts out tricks here and there (I remember he did something insane over black hubba in one of the NYC OIAM episodes). That workshop part is easily in the top 5 of the best NYC parts in the last decade some of those spots were fucked up

Hyped he's gettin healthy on his own time and he puts out tricks here and there (I remember he did something insane over black hubba in one of the NYC OIAM episodes). That workshop part is easily in the top 5 of the best NYC parts in the last decade some of those spots were fucked up
I wasn't talking about how much or how he skates, he's been getting shitloads of good footage lately, I'm talking about who he skates for.
I'm pretty sure this will change in the near future and become more aligned with his beliefs yo.

That's the same thing I thought. It's probably because Harmony makes that lame pseudo-hipster/christian/folk "rock". I'm not going to discuss the hypocrisy of such Christians because I'll end up sounding like an angry atheist but if this shit is true then I lost mad respect for The Chief. Getting rid of Billy probably frees up the budget a bit but what an asshole thing to do.

Jamie Thomas has never impressed me. I seriously am the dude who will not skip any parts in my skate videos but his trick selection and skating couldnt be more boring. Him saying Billy isnt putting out anything good is hilarious because he is the tiniest fraction of a skater that billy is. Seriously if Jamie Thomas were in his prime right now he wouldnt even be relevent. There is no way you saw these parts when they came out then. Jamie was ahead of his time, and I remember seeing his parts and just being blown away. Maybe he doesn't impress you now with all the robotic skaters that crush giant rails, etc. but at the time there was only a handful of guys doing that stuff. (i.e. Rowley, Heath, etc)

My first video was misled youth. Im the only one of my friends that still occasionally buys zero decks(nostalgia). Over the years i slowly lost respect for JT. This shit with Billy is the final straw. I will no longer buy Zero shit. At least I never gave Fallen my money.

You can't compare JT and Billy Marks, Jamie was putting out part after since 1995 and was absolutely killing it and pushing skateboarding for 10 years straight and even to this day puts out better footage than Billy Marks. I guarantee that Jamie's footage in Cold War will better than what Billy Marks has to offer next time he puts out a video part and Chief has 10 years on him.
I'm not here to bash Billy Marks I'm simply pointing out the facts as I see them, maybe you guys should go back and watch Welcome to Hell, Thrill of it All, Misled Youth & Dying to Live and then watch Billy's parts from Good & Evil & The Fallen video and compare work ethic and what the two have offered skateboarding and then tell me JT doesn't have the right, as Billy's boss, to say what he said. By Jamie's standards Billy should've had at least 2 more full parts that up to the standards of Jamie's Mislef Youth & Dying to Live parts...I don't think he's ever had one honestly but the closest one was his first real part in Good & Evil. The dudes done nothing except circus tricks at contests and TFs then sprinkled a few clips here and there since 2008.

He was probably stickin it more to Tum Yeto than to Ed, i've read interviews with Ed and he doesn't have a lot to do with the business side of things
at Toy Machine, he's paid as Pro and a brand director and head art director. In that interview he also said he gets paid more from Emerica than from Tum Yeto. So i would guess anything having to do with dudes gettin paid is done through a whole different dept at Tum Yeto.

A-fucking-men. JT is a skateboarder, not a corporate shadow man. He started Zero the same as Rick Howard started girl and Ellington and Greco started Deathwish. He took some New Balance money, but that in no way means Black Box isn't skater owned and operated. He took in Tom K and John Fitzgerald because they won a contest and gives/gave them all he could. He put money and resources into $lave and they're "core" as hell. He paid Ben Gilley, Keegan Sauder, and Elissa Steamer when no one else would even look at them for as long as he could. He put Jack Curtin on Fallen and gave him a shoe when the world at large has no idea who he is. He takes care of people who earn it.
For whatever reason, Billy Marks wasn't doing it for Fallen anymore. People shit all over Billy Marks but once the opportunity to shit on JT and his companies comes around again, it's JT that's the problem. People have to work for their sponsors just as much as their sponsors have to work for them. They're sponsored for a reason, and if that reason changes you have to adapt or hit the dusty trail.
Chris Cole is doing Berrics shit and Street League and all that too, sure, but he's also on tours and killing it on the streets. Cole was made a co-owner of Zero because of his years and years of loyalty. You guys might not like him, but you're crazy if you think he isn't earning what he's getting.
Jamie Thomas cares about skateboarding and gives people back what they put in. Y'alls trippin'.

Also, if jamie thomas wants fallen to come off a certain way and only wants certain kinds of footage thats okay because thats his company and thats pretty much what hes been about since always. Is it really that much of a surprise? You work with that guy you know what youre getting into and its not park footage or kickflip backtails on ledges. Get clint walker on instead, hes way gnarlier than billy marks anyways and his feet are currently sponsorless.

I think the New Balance thing was nothing but a rumor. He's released a good amount of footage post Gravis, and it's all been in Emericas, Lakais, or Gravis shoes. NB has sent stuff to people not announced on the team, so if he was going to get on, he would have at least one trick or photo wearing them.

This is simply because he doesn't ride a board the way I'd want my company represented, maybe JT feels the same? Black Box's revenue can't be anywhere above average, I never see anyone in my area buying or selling their product. MAYBE a zero deck here and there at the local shop but that's it. Fallen has always created pretty ugly shoes in my opinion, if they've ever made a shoe that looks halfway decent it's just a copy of some other company's shoe.

We went to this downhill contest last week and I saw this girl get served-up hard.
Why was a girl skating a downhill contest?
The women do the downhill stuff because they think it's like sidewalk surfing. They don't realize how dangerous it really is.
you could get way more served up skating downhll than you could skating a ten-stair rail. Some girls can skate but I personally believe that skateboarding is not for girls at all. Not one bit.

As far as the Jamie Thomas/Billy shit goes it seems like they both didn't want him there and Jamie was nice enough to give him a years pay while he looked for other companies to ride for and didn't fully put him off until he was going somewhere else. Billy refused to give him footage for the fallen video (the whole fucking reason Billy was getting paid was to help promote the brand and a huge part of that was footage) so who's the real asshole in this situation? I am not a huge JT fan and i hate religion being mixed with skating but I personally would rather watch this than anything Billy has ever put out no matter how good he is.

in regards to jason dill and the element cutting down tree thing i worked at the element skate camp for a couple summers. paul schmitt came and told us they have a tree replanting program for all the trees they chop down. i am pretty sure there was something about the toxicity of the glues mentioned as well.

If he feels that way its ok. However i believe he is stupid. I wouldnt do it unless it was in my contract. In my mind when you are a pro you break yourself and companies profit from that giving you a small fraction of profits. So basically if you are a good skater that brings profits the company should rep you harder not the other way round....

He is the perfect depiction of skateboarders of 21st century. Super athlete who doesnt know shit about anything and has only skills to show. The worst thing isnt what he says, but that he is so stupid that doesnt hide it. Kid is irrelevant with anything that doesnt have to do with handrails, stairs or flip tricks.
