Emerica has had a myriad of simple cupsole designs that had pockets of success but never sold well.
They stop making them because of that reason. If A shoe retails well, they keep going.
It's simple really. Nostalgia is a crazy thing, it erases how shitty some things really were.
I'm not saying they weren't good, they just weren't as good as most people remember.

I think they actually changed the way they made the Accel around 2004 too though. The original version had a pointier toe and the newer versions were more rounded.

that's what i have heard but i have had over 50 pairs of accels(seriously) over the period of almost 13 years and to me they have always had the same shape. puffy and round and with unparalleled board feel for a cupsole. the new reynolds shoe is kewl but feels much thicker than the accel. i still have my last pair of thrashed accels in my bedroom to stare at when im feeling blue......needless to say, my wife hates it ::)

I guess I should elaborate. I skated around 13 pairs or accells. A few black suede,brown suede and some of the pj ladd colorways.
I too thought they were awesome, and for the time they were, I came across an old pair a few years ago, tried to skate them. They felt really stiff and the sole was icy, no cushioning in the heel either. It crushed me that my favorite shoe was not what I remembered.
As I said, it's an opinion. People are making better shoes these days. Lighter, more cushioning and flexible.
