Although it has great skating, whoever edited Habitat Origin did a bad job and picked boring ass music to go with a confusing intro.

Why can't we have a Best Edited Skate Videos thread, why all the negativity :(
oh yeah, it's Slap. Hate on.
-
Elementality Vol 1. I thought i was watching a national geographic special with all the talk about nature.

Since Day One, Pretty Sweet, Recent Transworld Videos.

The new Blind video and new Cliche video

Cliche video was horrible and I am not even that nit picky about editing.

Oh god you're right.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to have "Mind Field" cut with a bunch of strange clips should get fired. I get it! You're kinda weird and this is arty, but it's too much.

easily since day one ... biggest let down in skate video history!

guilty s on point tho. regarding skills.

Nike nothing but the truth. I have yet to meet one person to say they've seen it the whole video without skipping to the skating.

Is it really that difficult? The editing isn't bad at all if you have a working remote. That is one of my most loved DVD's.

We have a winner!

Dont get me wrong the skating is on point. P Rod def came through at the time by setting the bar up higher and pushing his limits. Janoski killed it and we see a maturing Grant Taylor into what will soon be SOTY material. Also its the first time i have ever seen shane o neill. Even back then you knew this kid was gifted. But i didn't the get the whole story behind the video. Didn't make sense at all. I will say i did laugh a bit in the beginning when that one fat kid is claiming he is PROD and Chet Childress clowns em but everything else was like WTF.
-
since day one (too much footage actually didn't work this time, plus a lack of editing), proof (soundtrack and editing), nothing but the truth (this one has been beaten to death on why it wasn't what it should have been), pretty sweet.
I liked origins, it made me happy.
Shaqson and the Oshea brothers have been killing it for quite some time, definitely the most enjoyable videos to watch.
-
habitat origin was great, you a dumb bitch
Mosaic and inhabitants were great, Orgin was trash, great skating, terrible vid.
You're going to tell me you enjoyed the song for the Durante/al Davis section? Every time I watch that part I want to punch the editor in the face for using that bullshit alien chanting song. Half of that vid or more had some shit songs.
-
The flip one with all that fucking clay stuff going on...Brutal
-
Globe: Opinion
Holy shit this was bad, showing two Chet Thomas line's at once in big/small boxes on the screen might have been the stupidest shit ever done in a skate video.

stefans song is good, austyn song is good.. marks song is good
you just dont have taste

That doesn't beat his "Ill skate till i cant walk" quote.
-
everything (but the skating) in extremely sorry was absolute garbage.
-

Whats funny about that was Joe Castrucci said that Origins was the first time they were able to sit back and construct a video exactly how they wanted it and that he was extremely proud of the end product. I though Mosaic, Photosynthesis, and Inhabitants were much better videos despite not having the time to edit them the way he really wanted.
Also I think Pretty Sweet was THE worst editing I have ever seen. It gave me a headache it was so bad.
-
Extremely Sorry made me want to kick babies.
Actually, far worse than that, it made me want to kick puppies.
-
All skate videos are horribly edited when going by broadcast media standards. The only good ones are the documentary skate stuff.
but on SLAP standards, Baker and Deathwish videos are the best edited while production-based videos (or any video with a shot that has compositioning and planning) is considered to be a steaming pile of crap. Thats just the vibe thats being given off.
-
Damn boys, we already have individual threads about how much we hate each of these things...

the fuck are you on about "broadcast media standards" and "compositioning and planning", good editing captures the essence of the story you are trying to tell and street skating doesnt involve composition and planning
im with nino on origin as well that movie was sick
the best thing to come out of this thread was people reminding me about since day one, i forgot that movie existed halfway through my first watch
-
the fuck are you on about "broadcast media standards"
VX1000 and 4:3 is the standard for today's current media output?
-

Not true at all. I found that they were timed perfectly for me to grab my jit rag, do a quick clean up and then light another stick of incense.
-
The editing in Since Day One wasn't terrible, it just produced a video full of one-off internet parts and doesn't work as a complete product.
No one's gonna mention Happy Medium 2?

You can watch street league if that's what you're looking for in a skate video.
People make unique, quality shit however they want, it's just skateboarding. Krooked's Gnar Gnar, Palace videos, Jackson Casey's work, Volcom Chicagof, the Sabotage series, the list goes on and on
-
I thought Bon Voyage was really well done....just sayin
-
The editing was fucking terrible in Since Day One, but Roll Forever was so much worse. Half of Ramondettas part, the clip starts to fade away before his wheels even touch the ground.
Despite having one of the best teams out, reals last couple videos have fallen way short due to filming and editing.
-
#MiAmor, not that you can really consider that a video but the editing still sucked
-
The DGK video was it for me. The skating was great, but the stretched footage mixed with the HD,and the corny ass story line between parts killed it for me.
-

Workshop have always done the artsy mesh between clips it's fucking rad IMO, minefield is one of the best videos I have seen. As for horrible edits: extremely sorry and prettysweet were fucked, should've put the jack black/will arnett skits in a special features section/web clip... Or better yet, girl should've fired ty evans. The new transworld video has amazing skating but is edited so generically, bring back "a time to shine/first love" transworld style vids
-
There's nothing happy about a happy medium 2. Should be re-titled "a pretentious indie jerk-off" medium

I usually figure I'm the only one on this forum that enjoyed The Cinematographer Project, Perpetual Motion, and Pretty Sweet. I'd like to watch full grand quality videos in this era where full parts are dying out, but thats just my personal opinion.
And from the examples you gave me, I'm wondering why would you consider street league a "skate video"... Whatever, I'd rather go skate than talk shit on here but its currently raining.

that ambig modern art video. clint walkers part was boss, but the whole "modern art" aspect of the video sucked balls. not that anyone cares about ambig anyways...
-

This. I had to watch it in 3 sections without skipping those stupid skits because I thought there would be a better payoff. Had I known Stevie's part was to one of my favorite songs ever I would have just watched it backwards like Memento.
(But I did watch Wade Desarmo's part 4 times in a row before moving on. Someone please get that dude a shoe sponsor.)

I felt like Mind Field was a fucking Animal Collective music video or some bullshit.

Finally someone said it. Yeah the skating was great, but damn those skits were soo damn corny. Especially when they "shoot" Stevie & time starts freezing.

I concur. This video could have been much better than what it was.
Remember when Bootleg 3000 got a ton of shit for the excessive slow-mo?

Real 'Since Day One'
Any Nigel Alexander video, from Proof to all his bullshit web edits
The last TWS video, Perpetual Motion
Any Strange Notes edit
-
That Primitive video pretty much sucked balls

Although it has great skating, whoever edited Habitat Origin did a bad job and picked boring ass music to go with a confusing intro.

You're an idiot. Watch all the old AWS videos, especially Memory Screen, and they're all just the same with artsy 16mm and super 8 clips. Mind Field was nothing out of the ordinary.
-

First video I had ever received through a purchase of a magazine. I still love it, regardless of the terrible editing.
-
Clint Peterson had a neat song in his part. The dark end of the street one. Was that Colt Cannon's final video part before blowing his knee out or was that an element video.
-
Remember shorty's how to go pro? I don't either
-
i didnt really enjoy the editing in bombaklats. the skating was good, and the music was decent, but i hated it that they had to flash BOMBAKLATZ like 5 or 6 times during each part.
-

The Clint part you're referencing is from "Feed The Need" not "It's Time", but I agree. His part and song in that video worked really well.
I'm not too sure about Colt though. Possibly?
-
All the Mystery color theory edits. At first they were nothing but black and white then they were like lets try something new and switch it up to color. Boom.

he skated to a pretty good jethro tull song in one of the Transworld videos.
edit: not really a submission to worst here, i like parts of lets do this. odd era of transworld videos that showed just how lost they were art direction wise imo
found it

Never been a fan of Jethro Tull, but that song went nearly perfect with the part. Thank you for posting it.

I haven't posted in a Long ass time to just let you know that Happy Medium 2 was fucking beautiful. Some of the songs weren't my favorite, but it was filmed and edited really fucking well.
Extremely sorry takes the cake. I was so disappointed in that video.

Not even close. A Jon Allie part set to Sabbath, Windsor James with that Sam and Dave tune, Colt Cannon to Doobie Brothers, a bunch of other sick ass parts too. Other than the awful song they used for Durrant's part that whole video was pretty sick. I honestly don't remember the editing being bad either, nothing special but not bad.
-
The vid that gave me the worst motion sickness was Shortys Guilty , the skatin is dope as fuck though .
