Title: 2014 resolutions
Post by: chockfullofthat on December 27, 2013, 01:37:47 PM
First find out if you failed 2013 here: http://www.slapmagazine.com/component/option,com_jfusion/Itemid,4/index.php?topic=66915.0 (http://www.slapmagazine.com/component/option,com_jfusion/Itemid,4/index.php?topic=66915.0)

For 2014
-Get into grad school by any means necessary
-Quit smoking...for really real.
-Write a manifesto in a windowless cabin.
-Learn the phrase "May I have the permission to marry your daughter" in Chinese, and I suppose learn how to understand "Yes" and "No" too.

Haha dang I only managed to nail 2 out of 10. So this year I'm rooting for the 'I like to bring it, not sing it' attitude. Well ehm kinda I guess.

2013:

Break out of my comfort zone, I really, really, need to do that - Done that.
Do better in school next semester - Didn't do that but I've done better in second year so far.
Eat healthier - For the most part yeah
Skate more - Nope, haven't skated since August, work and school have taken up most of my time.
Stress and worry less - Still the same so nope.
Get a summer job - Yeah and I made $7300 this summer.
Drink less - Yup.
Travel more - Nope.

2014:

Continue to do well in school and try to do even better.
Eat healthier more often.
Lose some weight.
Travel more.
Get into a relationship.
Skate when I can.
Save more of my money then spending it all the time.

After spending the past week there, my longtime suspicion has been confirmed.  I need to move to Montreal as soon as possible.  I need to expand my mind and surroundings otherwise I'll likely drink myself to death in this place.

contribute more to my community
make more music
continue to buy more local/organic and less processed foods
raise pigs
stay afloat financially
don't get anyone knocked up

and

stay away from the taco bell thats opening up 20 miles from my house this spring

-go back to college

-beat my anxiety

I worked a shit load on that this year, and honestly dude it's very doable. It's definitely daunting (which the anxiety itself does not help) but the more you push yourself and realize the things you were afraid of aren't as bad as you may think they are, the better it gets. One tip I have is to bring a "security blanket" with you. I always bring my inhaler and two benadryl with me in my pocket since a lot of my anxieties are based around my food allergies, but just having them with me has made me feel more at ease in other non food related situations that would normally make me panicky. Good luck!

My resolution for each year is to stay out of jail. So far I haven't broken it.

This year I want/need to be a little more ambitious. The shit I need to work on is only going to get harder the older I get.

I want to:
Skate AT LEAST once a week. No more of this twice a month bullshit.
Watch, manage, and save my money instead of just swiping my card and hoping I don't overdraft.
Lose my beer gut.
Stop being late to work and spend less time on slap while I'm there.
Make more of an effort to see my friends.
Start shooting my shotgun more than just during league season.

I thought this was supposed to be about positive ambitions.

Seriously though, it might be nice if I could form strong bonds with other human beings.
I guess it would also be nice to kiss a girl.

Edit: I also want to stop being angry when I see women that I find especially attractive. That attitude gets me nowhere and is killing me on the inside.

Eat, drink, smoke and worry less.
Skate, exercise and play more cricket, put some serious effort into me and the wife's new business.

Classic stuff, and reasonably attainable.

Every year I consider some sort of charity work, should really look into it properly.

Get healthy
This was my only one for last year. I don't think I did a very good job.

This year, in order of priority:

- Get sober. I've been drunk for 5 years and I'm tired of it.
- Get sparked on skating again.
- Kill it at work.
- More gardening.
- Ride my bike a lot more.
- Be a good dog owner.
- Do more art.

I'm feeling like manhandling my booze habit will help a lot with all the other ones, plus I will probably save an absurd amount of money as another positive bi-product.

Maybe it's because it's an overhyped destination here in Europe, but it was a little bit underwhelming. Besides that the trip to it (from Mariposa) and away from it (Tioga pass and shit down to Mono Lake) blew my mind. Sorry if I bothered you lol

I choose life Mark Renton. I hear what you are saying, but its one weekend roadtrip away from me and I want to know what all the hype is about. I'm a big national park fan and have been to a lot of them, and most of the big ones, but somehow I still haven't been to Yosemite, so I'm on a mission to check that off.
Explain the trip there and back in more detail- is that a route along a certain highway? I'm down to check it out. I have summers off and I plan on making it happen this summer.

Haha it's alright.
I went from Mariposa to Yosemite with the 140, then from there we took the 120 towards Tioga Pass, Mono Lake and stuff, which is closed winters, because I was headed to Death Valley. So yes basically you just follow the 120 from Yosemite to Mono Basin.
Maybe I'm myself overhyped about it but it was pretty good ha!

Mine last year was to do more with my life. I went back to school, got the grades I needed to get into university and went on to study something I like and want to work as. So I guess I'm getting there. This year it would be to carry on working towards it. And put more effort into the subjects I'm bad at rather than avoiding them and doing badly, bringing my grades down.

I'd also like add these
Make more time to skate
be more positive.
Enjoy it more.
smoke more joints
