Post by: ill_Murray on April 09, 2014, 08:57:16 PM
Has anyone else been checking out Rick and Morty on Adultswim? I just found it yesterday and I'm already dying for a new season.  This shit had me dying...

Its brilliant. Between the horror and scifi references and Rick's alcoholism its entertaining as hell. Its kind of like Futurama where anything goes because because of technology except Rick and Morty is ramped up ten fold.

I loved the episode where they Cronenberged the world. The ending had me equal parts laughing my ass off and in shock.

Also Ants in my eyes Johnson.

Yeah, the love potion episode was my favorite too. It set the tone for the series and told the audience that without a doubt there are consequences in this universe. Being emotionally vested in the characters will be essential to appreciating the show to it's fullest.

Haha yes I love the hyper-realistic consequences to the ridiculous happenings of the show.
So stoked it got picked up for Season 2.

My friend Tim kept raving on and on about how great this show was and how much i would love it, but I kept avoiding watching it for whatever reason. Then on a rainy day not too long ago I had nothing to do, so i finally got around to watching it, and it's one of the best shows to come out in a while. I think there's only been one or two episodes that came out that i didn't really like, the rest were all great. The inception parody and the Mr Meeseeks episode were my favorite ones so far.

They call to each other by name too often. Not because they're grandson and grandfather, but people just don't call each other by name every fuckin sentence. It's infuriating.

They do that because it's funny. It's not supposed to be how normal people talk.

You probably didn't watch it when it first came out because the commercials for it were absolute shit. You had to have seen the short they put on the internet before it was picked up or be clairvoyant to know what the show was going to be like.

The fact it carried over to the meeseeks episode was kinda shocking. Before that I thought every episode was isolated from each other. I hope it gets renewed for a second season.

I loved how they dealed with the devil and the dogs. Completely original takes on an traditional scifi plot device.

also the game on http://video.adultswim.com/rick-and-morty/special/ (http://video.adultswim.com/rick-and-morty/special/) is pretty damn fun

One of the best parts about this show is their speech pattern.

It adds a bit of weird realism to the show. Characters will talk and stretch words out as their mouth is trying to catch up to their mind. It's an incredibly nuanced detail that I don't think gets enough attention.

The best cartoon out right now, each episode is just as good as the one before, all with original and entertaining story lines/plots, can't wait for season 2.

watching morty trip out about the nature of dimension traveling and trying to come to terms with his new situation while that mazzy star song was playing really put this show up a notch.

i happened to catch the show when it first aired on adult swim, been trying to spread it to friends since. brilliant show.

some people don't like the burping/wonder why he's burping and i have to explain that he's been drinking and he's an old nasty guy

have you ever read a script or watch a tv show where people dont constantly call each other by name? probably not. its apart of screen writing.

Sometimes it's subtle, but it's definitely a gag.

Unless English isn't you native language, you've got to some kind of slow in the head to not understand that their speech pattern is supposed to be funny.

Rick & Morty makes Futurama seems like Peppa Pig. The Devils episode was great, that DMX song remind me Digital Fajsha montage.

so rick and morty are back.

first episode was kinda a rehashed old formula ... objectively done very good, but I feel like it was just a new spin on a familiar concept aka morty keeps on screwing things up in some dimension on his own until rick has to intervene and then rick's main story just had no real purpose at all ... also not loving the sea guy at all and hope to never see him again

I’m stoked its back on but I do agree that first ep was kinda “meh”. Especially with how things left off with the last season and them not really addressing how everyone was over Ricks bullshit. I think this season was also their quickest turn around so we’ll see how the quality is. Props to the whole crew for standing their ground and using the shows popularity to get approved for enough seasons to be syndicated though. Hopefully they dont phone it in.

Some years ago, I returned from a long shift half drunk and full of psychedelic mushrooms, and I was greeted with interdimensional cable 2. As a result, I will forever have a special place in my heart for this silly show.

The first episode I ever watched was with my kids and it was Pickle Rick.

This new season opener had my son and I cracking up. That's all that mattered.

I'm behind as I'm yet to finish season 4. I love the show overall, but I have to admit the first few episodes in season 4 weren't that good. I'm afraid to finish season 4/start season 5 as I want it to be as the first three seasons.

I remember I started watching primitive when that started up a couple years ago, fuck, that was intense/amazing.

Every season has a few duds in my opinion. Just watched the first 5. Starting off strong, I'm really enjoying it.

I have the opposite perception of a lot of fans in that I don’t want a massive Rick & Morty universe that weaves a complex backstory for Rick & Morty. I want to know the story of Rick and Beth’s mother sure, but I don’t give a shit about building a universe or lore across seasons. I want fun and interesting episodes and I want to watch the characters grow and evolve over those episodes. That’s it. I don’t need or want a massive universe of weird details or stakes where every episode needs to add more details and layers to that world or else it sucks.  And I don’t think the creators want to write that and it sucks that that is now the current mode of media consumption
