What do you guys do when your baseplates get loose? Also, what made you decide to put grip over your bolts in the first place?
-

I use bridge bolts so my shit NEVER comes loose. That's a SHARPSHOOTER guarantee buds

My baseplates don't get loose so no problem there. I saw a video where Brian Anderson talks about doing it and mentioned it to a friend, he told me he had been doing it for years and urged me to try it saying it was liberating and felt like a magic carpet ride. I resisted at first but tried it and have done it ever since. Foot placement becomes more instinctive and I like the aesthetics of it.

Those aren't true Bridgebolts per se. They gotta be one U piece with "BRIDGEBOLT" stamped on the top. More importantly they must stick out 1/8" to 'catch your foot for higher street ollies.'

ha, i forgot about that. back in the 90s you didn't need shoe laces cause your basketball ass cupsole joints had an elastic on the tongue that kept them on your feet. plus it made you look like you just got released from house of correction [where they let you have unlimited razors but no laces. shtooops] and i was all about being lazy so i'd just grip over the whole mess. at such a time as baseplates rattled loose, usually the bolts would have broken through the griptape cloud cover like sun on the horizon. back in the 90s, boards were $20 so it is reasonable that you could just focus it and start anew but that's a sin like wasting food.
-
My front two bolts are upside down so I can ollie higher, and the other six are T-bolts.
On the shity side. I have to get new shoes every week.
-
i grip over the bolts but poke little holes in the top of them so i can still access them with my allen key
-
Boards were $20? What about the ODI's that you hammered in?
I was a big user of the upturned bolts.....

Don't remember that. Even Powell mini-logos were $27.99 in southern California.
Never got into focusing boards either, always gave them to kids who need them, still do. The exception was when I was getting flowed by this shitty company and they would give me a new board if I brought them a broken one. Finishing them off after a crack is one thing, but getting mad and breaking a board is such a waste when there's kids who would be stoked to have a kickdown..

i had the shop hook up. $20 out the door! i still can get deals but now it's like $40 but if i've got the extra $10 to kick towards jahmal or ricky o i'll do that.
