Title: Boards you would maim/ kill / pay a small fortune for
Post by: Stanley Spadowski on February 10, 2015, 10:16:52 PM
Gay Imp Sausage Metal got me thinking about this, after the thread he started about shoes.
So what boards would you maim/ kill / pay a small fortune for?

A mint condition Ray Barbee Ragdoll deck. I still fuck around on that one from time to time. It was handed down to me by my cousin. I have to respect the dudes who did much of anything on those unwieldy beasts.

I'm so pissed now, I had this, left it in my trunk for a few days and it warped, barely skated. sold it to some kid at an out of town park for $10...

Really any of the old Alien slicks.

I can't find images, but the Drake Jones butterfly/fairy board and a lot of the old creature stuff would be nice to have.

pretty sure this was mj's first board on chocolate. they had it at my local shop and it was a 7.75 which is what i rode at the time. i didnt have enough money for it when i saw it, but i came back a few days later and it was gone.  :'(

edit:

i also regret passing this one up as my first board. the one the shop had was a yellow background, but the same graphic. when i saw it i was bummed because i really liked birdhouse and i had no idea that andrew left to start baker. my brother had a nerdy friend at the time and his last name was baker, so i immediately thought the name was lame and i wanted nothing to do with it. looking back, i really wish this wouldve been my first board. the one i picked out was an alien one off and the graphic was decent, but nothing really special.

there was also an Ocean Howell Birdhouse deck that had a ghost(s) on it, maybe it was light blue.  One of my buddies had that deck and I always thought it was awesome.

I'd like to get my hands on both of these boards. The birdhouse was my first board back in 95 and the 101 is my favorite graphic ever. My best friend had it but my parents wouldn't buy it for me due to the joint in the graphic. My dad was the fuzz so that wasn't happening unfortunately...

Ryan Hickey Stereo board:

That's a nice one.

I guess it was only a matter of time before someone posted Chocolate's OG Bar series. I'd love to have Chico's and Gino's boards if anyone can point me in their direction:
(http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/itsonlymoney/photo-6.jpg) (http://s2.photobucket.com/user/itsonlymoney/media/photo-6.jpg.html)

Saw this Jason Lee Blue board awhile back but didn't have enough money for it. I'd definitely try to buy it again:

Something about this Matt Hensley Hornblower board is so cool, I can't explain:

This Love and Rockets Lance Conklin board by Powell is amazing:

And many more - Josh Kalis' Photosynthesis board, Mike McDermott's Habitat int'l model, the Western Edition Miles Davis set, Aesthetics' Arcade series, and Jovontae's DGK board all come to mind.

Same here.

Also, my first board, it was an ATM click deck, really clean design, color scheme was really similar to that Muska board, 1/3 red, 2/3 white, and a black ATM writing in the middle, closer to the tail. I loved that deck and knew I wanted it as soon as I walked to the skateshop for the first time. I didnt know anything about sizes, concave or even griptape, I just wanted the board. It was a little big for the time, I think it was around an 8, which was way too big compared to all the boards that were around in my town in 2002-2003

If anyone has a link to some kind of board archive, with a bunch of old board pictures, I will really apreciate the link, so I can search for that deck.

If birdhouse would regularly re-release their graphics from the 90's I would give them a large chunk of my paycheck each month. Even the Berra graphics looked dope(hardest thing I've ever had to say)

That Reynolds zombie board is sick. Looks like an ode to resident evil 1, that scene when you encounter the first zombie.
Mine would have to be the muska kamikaze deck in green. First board I ever had.

God i would shit a brick if i still had that board, or any of them. They made one for Grosso too when he got on. I've seen the Phelps guest board on ebay from time to time, but I always chicken out from buying it.

All of the old Anti Hero series were so good, but the collaboration with Girl is my favorite.

Wearing an Anti-Hero shirt with that Girl-AH logo right now.

First Anti-Hero board i ever got was the Grewer skull front boarding the golden gate. Always really liked this whole series Lance did. (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DdUgNOzMejo/SrJcO02cW3I/AAAAAAAAAFI/K3axXag4PhY/s1600/dlx-flr-8-31-9-antihero.jpg)

Don't think I would kill, maim or mortgage my home for any board. Not really a board collector or hanger but I'd love to get a Heath retirement board. I have it on my ebay watchlist and I once thought I'd get one for $250. It ended up selling for $400+  :-\  What sucks about it is it was made when Alien was still under Burton and I'm guessing there's a bunch being hoarded away by snowboarders.

I was just thinking about a Toy Machine board I've always wanted - it's an Ed Templeton board from 2000, it's got a punker-looking kid on it and I think he's watering a lawn while saying "My other hat is a Dr. Seuss." I saw a picture of a kid imitating it in Transworld for a tour article way back in the day. It's Ed's art when it looked real grungy, almost Beavis and Butthead-like, and the colors are great. I can't find a picture of it online.

you and me both brother. i had a d.way with a lion on it that was sick, i think i got it cause it was 7.75 i dont think i knew who d.way was back then. one series that sticks out in my mind that i never owned was the nocturnal series, there was a lemur on one and kalis' model was a butterfly. i would love to have any of those on my wall. and any mid 90s AWS (slicks included) that i drooled over in my cousins CCS but never had cause i didnt skate yet would suffice.

With a group of trustworthy people and some negotiating skills, that might be worth the effort.

Been looking for this one for ages.  Also anything vespa/lambretta related (there are a couple of BL Melchers and and Enjoi Barletta deck that I'm looking for)

I have one on the wall, although, it isn't an original. It's some canadian shop's reissue that I (mistakenly) paid $100 for. But. Eh.

Looks like im going kill/pay a small fortune in the near future.
I also know Hosoi did a weird reissue with the rising sun Muska board, but they branded the bottom with Hosoi, so i thought it wasnt worth it.

I think he knows that the Muska board was a homage to the original Hosoi model.

These are probably pretty easy to find but I'm crappy with the internet

(I've got Jakes first Mother and Quasi board on my wall so I want to complete the cycle)

Also would love to own:
Any Chocolate Gino Hecox Deck
Pendleton Heath Alien
Van's first board (the white one)

Someone help me out if you can.

Meanwhile, there were no pictures online that I could find of it. So here's one that I've taken. I guess this is the only photo of the board on the Internet? It can't be.  Also his shirt says the Dr. Seuss quote, not him.

That Passport board is nice as well!

I regret not pulling the trigger and buying this board when I had the chance.
