*creams pants*
LOVE me some markovich!!!
-
Kris and the Union video... :'( I can't believe it's been 23 years.
-
That was one of the best Weekend Buzz's I've ever seen.
Loved how they started nerding out in the middle with the board shapes and pressure flips talk.
-
I hope there is another hour of that. I forgot how Neal was linked to so many World/Dwindle companies.
I remember the Damon Byrd thing too.
-
The ones with older pro's are so much better
-
stoked on this but man markovich looking hella thin
-
Loving this ;D
and Brink, imma let you finish but please tell me the whole of the next episode is about color-era Markovich
-
This is cool too Kris Markovich Talks About His Color Video Part www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnyHXw6ZNXI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnyHXw6ZNXI#)
-
Kris is drunk, and looks a bit like gazza.
still one of the best
-
Man that was awesome! I really hope you guys get to the story of the kickflip down wallenberg that Jeremy was talking bout.
-
God fucking damn I love markovich's parts. I hope he is healthy.
-
Anything about the times he beat up danny way?
-
I think we need to stick to getting more older riders on the show rather than ones we sort of know what is going on. It'd be nice to get some of those "where are they now" skaters on the show.

2nd this.

What's all this "we"
-
Sick. Kris's Art Bars part was one of the first parts I ever saw, it was randomly on some sports channel 15 years ago. He skates so fucking fast in that, I wish that rubbed off on me like Julien did on him.
-
I'm usually into watching the older dudes crap on but these two, particularly Markovich, seem arrogant as fuck. Glory days...
-
being 20 minutes from Pensacola Markovich is totally fucking right about it being a redneck riviera around here. Theres still spots here that dude skated back in the day and one really impossible one that was rumored he tried to do. This older guy that grew up here too was telling me stories about skating with Markovich back then and how he used to not let anyone at his highschool know he skated and how once he like hid from a group of his school friends while out skating haha
-
what was the bit about julien...sounde dlike they had beef or some shit
-

you leave markovich alone >:(
-
Anything about the times he beat up danny way?
Yep, he refered to it in his 92 Phat magazine interview.
Probably wasn't mentioned because of skate politics
-
I really hope they get into Markovich riding for Duffs multiple times.
Also from the outside it seemed like that gnarly fall Neil Mims took was what held him back because before that he was on pace to be one of the next generation of big pro's.
I always loved this part

-

Sounded to me like Julien's skating was super important to him to the point that he was having a hard time even explaining.
-

cigarette beer pushed brink over the edge and off the boards while raising taxes. that cigarette/beer! i always get stuck in peniscola, not much of a hill but there's one by the I-10 first exit in from alabama, i believe. so kris was ashamed of being a skater? cause he embodied that shit like early 90s conjures a picture of him tripping over a crack in giant loud colored pants.
like a lot of people who name their child julien, he is just touched by dude's early footage. can't be no beef,, markovich would lay dude out like danny way, chad fernandez and prolly some other pros.
stoked to hear the tip of breaking bottles over one's head. i usedta kinda sweat how they did that but never gave it an honest attempt on my own head [any kind will break on someone else's head i've found].
-
Looking like a MASH extra is a little illegal too.....
-
The old dude episodes are definitely way better.
I'd get gacked up with Markovich.
It's about time someone dragged Damon Byrd's name through the mud again, that dude gets off easy.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Bummed to know that he wont address the topic, but I'm psyched to hear this dude talk about skate history. Markovich's color and 101 era was so sick!
Thanks to the poster who put up the slap link with Markovich talking about his color video part. Hearing him talk about Jeremy Wray kick-flipping the double set that he could only ollie, ollie-grab, and 180 made me start speculating about the Wallenberg, lol. Good times!

so so so so so so good

Kris Markovich & Neal Mims: Gator’s Car, Looting, Polo Model, Rosa! Weekend Buzz ep. 104 pt. 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=622WXLleQTg#)

that was great
-
"I brought it off Gator, right after he killed that Bitch"
"Right after he put the Bitch in the ground"
Really? a poor chick that was beaten to death and dumped in a bag and you call her a bitch, how disrespectful can someone be? i don't care if your a legend, that was a pretty shit thing to say.

it was a weird thing to say... sounded like he was drunk and ranting.
I remember reading a long time ago that he was the only pro who dated Rosa. That was an ender. Lucky prick.

A Markovich epicly laterd would be cool.
Can some one reference me to a Rosa thread on slap please? if there isn't one, can we turn this into one?

who is rosa?

who is rosa?

she was literally every skaters wet dream from about 93 to 96ish.
an epically later'd is in order
-
Yeah "put that bitch in the ground" and Markovich's paint-dappled army jacket were grating, but otherwise great vid 9/10.
Didn't Markovich (at his own wedding) knock Sheffey on his ass?
-
Markovich has changed quite a bit in past few years...

Enjoyable episode.
Kris did a demo at our SUPERcrappy skatepark once. Everything was made out of plastic and was steep as hell. But the dude killed it.
Is it me, or is he sharing a face with Andy Roy these days?

well you can google her full name and her image pops up a few times, she's still pretty damn beautiful (they look recent).
-
a grown man talking/dressing like that is not a good look
old age for our generation is gonna be weird
-
Damn, that left a bitter taste in my mouth. Markovich just doesn't seem like a person I'd ever want to be friends with. "I'm passionate so that excuses being a total shithead." Sounds good dude.
-
also, hearing a grown man say "have you ever porked Rosa?" was just fuckin weird. Kris' words about Gator's girlfriend were the worst though.
-
Didn't know Rosa was from Oakland! Looked her up on Facebook, figuring I could find her through some mutual friend (I live in Oakland)...
She still looks pretty good for 41

I don't think he meant it negatively, just using "bitch" instead of girlfriend.
...Still pretty cringe worthy either way.
I hope Kris is clean, It would be very sick to see him go sober and have a comeback part.
-
1) when they were talking about the hundreds of boards they had:
"what would those have been worth?"
and fuckin' Neal who's been skating his whole life goes "5... 10,000"
you'd be a fucking millionaire with 300 or 400 world/blind boards today
2) is it possible that really was the car that Gator "killed that bitch" in? I'm too lazy to go through Stoked to see if it was a Civic...
3) this was one of the best episodes EVER

Drunk: "Eat a dickkkk, fuck that bitch, I use-ta be awwwwwwwsome bro...."

Still fond of Kris' skate career, reminds me of a prototype Westgate.

I heard that awhile ago.. she was a teacher and running/organizing a community theater, sounds like a cool person.
Always wondered what I would say if I bumped into her at a starbucks or something.. I feel like if I said "Hi are you Rosa?" i'd basically be admitting I jerked off to her when I was 14.

I don't know Kris but he has A long list of burned bridges to his name, that alone speaks for itself.

Yeah, you get drunk and start rattling off cool guy stories and everyone's hyped on you and the adrenaline gets going and its "fuck" this and "eat a dick" that. Its no surprise when you call some poor, deceased girl a bitch. I doubt he meant it. Especially hearing what he said about Gator after that.
It's no excuse, just an easy explanation.

Does anyone remember which Kris part it was where he has an opening monologue saying something like " There's always a group of skaters in which their parts get constantly fast forwarded, I'm not one of those guys" or something like that. He always left an impression that he was very cocky and into himself, also his Blind part is an automatic skip in my book.

Sallow and gaunt are good words for him.
-
Markovich kind of never really grow up. Even Jason Dill balanced that problem one way or the other and sorted out... To use the word bitch to talk about a victim of homocide is REALLY bad. He was on the mood to talk about anything maybe thats why he let it go like that but it shows an alienated juvenile side of him that might be still a problem.
Other that that, troubled or not, the dude is legit but it's sad he's not more like Karl Watson when he talk.

yeah. i'm not defending that shit at all but in the context of that story you can tell it is still super heavy and overwhelming to him. it's gotta be a mindfuck to know your boy you hung out all the time killed his girlfriend, and possible hung out with you that day.
it's definitely not an excuse but making light of it and talking about it like it was some make believe movie is kind of understandable. still a terribly shitty thing to say.

Eat a fucking dick. If you don't like it, eat a fucking dick.

The "bitch" thing was nothing. Kris went on and on about how much he despises Gator and what he did after.
I do hope he does have his shit together though.
-
i don't think it's nothing. he referred to someone that was raped and murdered as a "bitch" for no reason. that's something I'd expect from a 14 year old, not a 40 year old. pretty fucking gross. sounds like he's got a problem with women.
-

Just because he hates Gator for what he did, doesn't cancel out the fact that he referred to the victim of that heinous crime as a "bitch".

His wife was a babe is he not with that chick anymore?

Can I ask what the fuck you're thinking Brink?

This part was a decade ago, and doing a hurricane on a nobbly cement "handrail" thing is pretty fucking good.
Fuck you for making me defend this guy. ;)
-
a few things:
- bitch comment defs wasnt called for, especially because he seemed genuinely pissed at gator. either way not a cool thing to say... I want to chalk it up to him being drunk, I really do :-X
- didn't he split with his wife (who someone called hot on the last page)? I seem to remember him having a kid at some point too no?
- you don't talk shit on markovich parts; the guy has never put out a bad one imho. as for petty back smith hate, you try skating half as fast as he does and even board sliding something.
Dude has had a rough fucking life with the skate industry (partly his fault too) but at the end of the day he still throws down and I defs can't hate on that.
-
Went back to watch this, (missed the bitch part the first time) and in his story I counted him saying girl twice and bitch twice...So I think he might of said bitch because he is truly pissed at Gator and just was angry/passionate about telling the story. I'm surprised this was picked up on because there are tons of men who only refer to women as bitches. I agree it's not a nice thing to say.
-
Someone gif that 360 flip off the curb cut :o forgot how big it was.
Drunk or not drunk the bitch call wasn't needed. Maybe she was a cunt but she's dead and that shit isnt cool.
-
Did chops ever do a markovich interview? You kids....be happy Heath called it a day.....
-
The bitch has to be taken in context of how the story was being told. Drunk and recounting an anecdote about a friend who'd murdered a girl and possibly driven her body in the car you had just bought. He was tripping about it even recounting it two decades later. Bad choice of wording but at no point did you get the feeling that he thought the girl was really a bitch. If Brink ends up censoring these things a lot they will become dull as fuck.
-
brink and lee are jerry springer and steve. they have to let the guests go overboard or it'd be all boring skate talk. thank goodness they get the guests hammered or we might not have a show.

i get what your saying and i'm from kris's generation and remember a lot of people talking like that about women when i was younger but most of us grew up and realized that shit wasn't cool. doing that kind of thing now, in this day and age and in that context talks a lot about where kris is and isn't at in his life.
mca addressed this back in 94 and most of us were already there or on our way (@2:08). it's 2015.

People in the skate industry are seriously intimidated and afraid of Markovich. For fuck sakes he prevented Jeremy Wray from skating and possibly kickflipping wallenberg before anyone. And all Jeremy had to say is no big deal it was a funny story? i would have been pissed! Seriously the first thing i thought about as soon as i saw Weekend Buzz Markovich was that story and I know Brink has already said that him and Lee "forgot" to ask about the story, but I'm starting to feel like they were maybe scared to ask seeing as how he would react or maybe he would talk shit on Jeremy like he did with Gator and starting some late beef with Jeremy.

i never heard that one. is there a thread or a first person account of it on the web somewheres?
-
In the context of the story telling style I see nothing wrong with how/what he said about gators chick. If you want to get all touchy with it.... me saying "chick" could be twisted in some sort of demeaning way. He was in a hang out situation with beer talking to skateboarders with a target audience of skateboarders. Nothing shocking. I get it from both perspectives but just take it lightly and all is well. That was super fun to watch for me because much like a lot of kids (now adults) from that time, Markovich was my friggn idol. Down. Thanks Brink!
-
The bitch slip didn't surprise me...
Although Brink and Lee dog could have asked some tougher questions.....they did touch on the topic of hair which Marko, appears to be struggling with.....
