Title: Advice on new shoes with the best support.
Post by: SlappyBag on March 15, 2016, 06:09:23 PM
I'm trying to find a new skate shoe with solid ankle support. Currently I'm skating the adidas suciu and am loving the insole. Cup soles have been the best for me so far. I tried some FP insoles and they didn't give me enough support and haven't touched them since i got the suciu's. Im looking to get the Cons CLS but won't buy any nikes (even tho nike owns cons.) Both my ankles are fucked and the insole and massive rubber heal that was in the suciu's were amazing for me. I don't do sets or anything bigger then a four but need something that will allow me to walk around all day and skate all night.
Also if anyone has any advice on insoles that might compare to the thickness supplied in the adidas please let me know, i haven't found anything!

Oh slappy bag. The Reynolds cupsoles are great, also then we can still have the same shoes. Also the NB# cupsoles feel real nice on the feet as well.

CCS, Zumiez seem to have the boozntit mids...Amzon too, for both

DC store has the mo mid, though that shoe, while a great fit, wasn't very good in terms of arch support.

currently on my second pair of regular busenitz pros after a recent ankle break. the heel lock/support is very strong and after its broken in it has superb boardfeel for a thicker cupsole model. once you get used to skating them they are perfect

Don't they only make the mids in an all leather toe or have they started making suede ones now?

How the hell can you not like a leather? I mostly skate and wear just leather cupsoles but they have become extinct nowadays so I have to look for older models which is hard as well. I wish they mostly made just leather cupsoles like back in the day.

So you mean like 2001? Leathers a weird thing in skating , it's a great material for skating but its durability is shit and the companies making leather cup soles stopped using real leather nearly 2 decades ago. Last leather shoe I had was the accel plus. Amazing shoe, leather though was shit after 2 weeks. Suede is all you really need.

No, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 were especially dominated just by all leather cupsoles. It has never been a weird thing, it has always looked the best and been practical. Maybe not for vulcs though. And we all know that the best skateboarding footwear was made during late 90's till late 2000's when skateboarding footwear was all about functionality and durability (and personally I think had the best designs as well). And you are completely wrong about the durability. Leather is more durable and lasts longer than suede. I've been wearing and skating leather cupsoles for all my skateboarding "career", which is for years and in comparison of the smaller portion of suede shoes I've had, they've always have held up for me way longer. They've never ripped through the actual material - leather. I've had to change whether because of ripped stitching or wear out or a hole in the sole. Only thing you have to do is to care a little - use a wax or a paste/shoe polish once in a while otherwise leather indeed split and gets vulnerable/wears out. And no, none of them are synthetic leather. If it wasn't "extinct" nowadays - leather would be my only choice.

I haven't landed a kick flip in more than 10 years, so I can't speak to their "flick".  But, for a 43 year old who skates transition sub 5' they're pretty good.  Good padding and grip.  Like the way they look when looking down.

The flick is amazing due to the runner toe. It helps make for a nice pocket from the get go. The only problem is that you hit the suede immediately so the upper won't last as long as the other g6 models. The support in the heel is good and there is little break in time because the forefoot is so low along with the deep flex grooves. Overall extremely comfy shoe that I think is great to look down at. People have been writing on here that it works well for wide feet but mine as thin as all hell and they fit fine.

Also to make my shoe buying situation more annoying i have flat feet, like florida flat, and im also a tiny child sized man, so anything with a nice heal like in the suciu's, that supportive insole will make me happy. I just saw they put out a new color way which ill need to get but just want some variety. Any word on Huf Choice?

The converse site has metric's for like $60 in odd sizes. I need to find a pair of 10.5s cheap. BAs were the only shoe I could skate every day in and still be able to function after, these seem similar. Just did 3 days in a row of long sessions and today I can barely walk. Was wearing the Figgys.
