Title: Terrorist Attacks in Belgium (Stay safe pals)

At least 11 dead after two explosions rock the American Airlines check-in desk at Brussels Airport - as SECOND 'terror attack' hits Metro station in city centre

Quote
At least eleven people have died and several injured after two explosions rocked Brussels Airport in a suspected terror attack.
Witnesses described seeing 'dismembered bodies everywhere' after the blasts which are believed to have centred on the American Airlines check-in desk at around 8am (7am GMT).
There were reports that shouts in Arabic were heard in the building before the two explosion and shots were fired in the aftermath.
Around 90 minutes later, there were reports of another explosion at a Metro station near the EU headquarters in central Brussels.
Photographs from inside the arrivals hall showed the floor was covered in fallen roof tiles and dust as bloodied people hobbled out of the airport. Others injured were photographed lying on the floor.
Video also shows terrified passengers running for their lives out of the terminal.
The explosions come just a day after the Belgium Interior Minister warned of possible revenge attacks after the arrest of Paris terror attack suspect Salah Abdeslam in the city last week.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3503928/Two-explosions-heard-Brussels-Airport.html (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3503928/Two-explosions-heard-Brussels-Airport.html)

Quote
Two blasts tore through the departures area of Zaventem airport shortly after 08:00 local time (07:00 GMT).

An hour later, an explosion hit Maalbeek metro station, close to the EU institutions. The metro system and airport have both been closed.
The attacks come four days after Salah Abdeslam, the main suspect in the Paris attacks, was captured in Brussels.
The Belgian government has confirmed casualties at the airport but has given no numbers. The cause of the explosions is unknown.
The whole metro system has been closed. Belgium has now raised its terror threat to its highest level.

Monty, how many posts do you have on Flashback?

Thrillho, what you mean with "When religion meets science?"? I really dont want to link to wiki but I'm too lazy and busy to find a better source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematics_in_medieval_Islam (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematics_in_medieval_Islam)

Also, this is a fucking waste of time http://www.dailysquib.co.uk/sci_tech/3102-scientists-prove-that-all-religious-books-are-man-made-nonsense.html (http://www.dailysquib.co.uk/sci_tech/3102-scientists-prove-that-all-religious-books-are-man-made-nonsense.html) . Only idiots who hang out at  "I fucking love science" would fall fot this garbage. Then again, they have no idea what "real" science is, they just click "like" on artistic illustrations of space.

I mean, what kind of scientific method would prove once and for all that religion/God/whatever does not exists? I hardly an expert on methodology, so ask Bryman and Bell if they can provide a proper methodology, theoretical framework, data collection, analysis and result to conduct a proper study.

Currently at a safe distance in Ghent, about 30-40 miles away, but all hell is breaking loose in Brussels. Bombs are still going off, but it's not always clear whether they are ignited under control of the bomb squad or not.

Staying pretty calm at the moment and just distracting myself at work, but some people here are freaking out. I think just about everyone knows at least one friend of family member who either works or lives in Brussels. Heard from a few friends and colleagues they were lucky enough to either be working at home or being sent home. All of them are safe.

I heard twenty and rising. Seems like they don't have a very clear picture of what's happening yet.

Was to be expected in Brussels of course. That city is such an embarrassment to Europe.

I suspect I should just accept this as a quirk of modern society? When religion (http://www.splendoroftruth.com/curtjester/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/coexist.jpg) meets science (http://rs651.pbsrc.com/albums/uu236/416o/explosion.gif~c200)

Religion is a very different thing according to how those in power use it and how ordinary people perceive it. Religion is actually a form of philosophy, a pretty much  immature form of it from ancient times that still survives. The problem is when the elites use religion or other philosophies to trick people into being slaves for the elites' causes. Christianity for example was pretty much groundbreaking and revolutionary when it first appeared, but after that it was slowly incorporated into the state and the elites, changed some of its foundations, became contradictory and helped into oppressing people. Islamist countries until the end of 18th century were more developed than the shithole Europe was, they were great in sciences. After the industrial revolution Islamists fell behind and the problems started when the powerful Europe started taking advantage of them. Then Islam from a pro-science religion was interpreted by some powers as the philosophy of revenge for many people in Middle East and fueled all this extremism. Of course not all Islamists are like that some of them are not drawn by that interpretation.

Free market is not less of religion than Islam, and for sure more catastrophic.

Translated from a page I follow in Facebook:

Attacks in an airport, attacks inside metro stations. When the dogs of war that they unleash (meaning the west and their opponents) go nuts, they can bite even the one that unleashed them. The sad truth is that usually those who pay the price are those that are not at fault. Because the subway it is used by ordinary people, not by those who make the decisions, those have limos. The subway is used by those who clean toilets, who wash dishes, who paint walls, who go to school, locals and immigrants, and refugees amongst them. It would be ridiculous to see that as an anti-imperialist act because it happened in the capital of EU and NATO that we all hate.

Those attacks are a crime against victims and refugees because we know how the elites will use this attacks for their benefit, we know that the next victim will be the refugees. The dogs of imperialist elites are those who commited these crimes, dogs from one side dogs in the other side and ordinary people in the middle getting killed as a collateral damage from their big plans of domination against each other.

I work directly in the center of Brussels.

My day:
- got at work at 7.37 AM as always
- im always first at the office and I read the local online paper since I work on the communication cell of our company
- 8.20 AM sirens, police, helicopters started to sound around the office
- Around 8.30 AM the first news started coming in about the airport, chills down my spine since this was a long time coming
- colleagues started entering and they were all in shock...
- some time after 9AM we heard a big blow, and we were all worried. Than dead silence and after 5 minutes sirens everywhere. Choas in the streets etc...
- 10 AM complete lockdown of brussels. No one could go in the streets or go oustid or inside the building.
- panic in the building, crying people... The explosion was 200m from where we work...
- all communication went down except for facebook, everything else was out. No cellphone connection etc...
- noon. Had to improvise for food at work.
- all transportation out, deathtoll rising etc... A guy we work with did not show up for work and always take the subway that was hit. Family has not heard from him either
- no trains, no taxis, no buses etc... Lockdown. Complete lockdown.

At 3 in the afternoon we got an email saying there would be a bus taking us away from brussels... Hectic situation broke out.

This day was sick, I work in Brussels and expected this WAY longer. i always thought they would hit central station though... The guy I work with probably will never show up again.

This was scary close... It all became very real.

Today I came home, went to the gym and just went zombie mode. Still can not grasp it.
Called my dad who is always ice cold emotionwise and heard his voice crack for the first time in my 33 year existence.

No pitty story here, but it is really insane to have been in the middle of it.
This all became very very real. It seriously was like being in a movie...

My condolences to the people that lost anyone...

Fuck religion. One love.

Peace.

Last update I've seen is 34 dead.

My money is that this is a desperate last stand by the cell that did Paris. Seems relatively shitty planned from what I've gathered; Airport attack was after the major business rush and the subway was after the morning rush, not to mention that it's pretty much Easter and a lot of people away.

I dont usually post terror attacks on SLAP , The Paris attack thread was not mine . I made any other thread about North American , Australian , South American , EU , Asian or African threads about Terror

I dont think its fair to call me out on not making terror threads about other countries when my only (1/1) thread was on EU .

So easy to just drop a bomb off somewhere and detonate. These guys are experts at spreading fear, Europe was on their knees all day playing right in their hands.

It will take a real massacre like 2000 innocent people dead before the world does something about it. Until then we will just keep funding journalists, jerking everyone around in the news, and searching innocent people like it makes a difference.

There's no easy answer but doing nothing is the worst thing right now. Send a message, a big message.

Nice to see that they have leads and people to hunt for this attack . And that the death toll seems to have gone down . In some cases we got really " lucky "

Yepp, typical coward technic.

Then again, the West bombs hospitals and civilians in The Middle East/Afghanistan. Laser guided missiles my fucking ass, more like pray guided missiles. I'd be frustrated too if some fat, illiterate US cunt blew up my house/truck/local hospital.

Monty Molenbeek is a really big problem. It's really a breedingnest for extremists.

I'm not talking back to you in any way, just shining a light on the whole situation:

Cops didn't dare to go there because it's a ghetto ran by extremists. Everyone that goes there gets threatened etc. The IS guys that lived there got help and protection from 'regular' people that live there, giving them shelter in different houses providing them with food etc... that's how fucked up it is over there.

When they caught Abdeslam the cops were attacked by literally tons of people. Journalists were beaten shitless, soldiers were attacked with stones. I know they could/should have caught the two other guys. But on the other side it's all easier said than done.

And to be completly fair, this was a LONG time coming, and the cops already caught a bunch of IS members that were planning attacks. Like the IS-cells in verviers, vorst etc. so it's not like they didn't do anything. The point is that they're everywhere because they work in 'cells' and it's really hard to find a certain line in it. So unfortunately it's really hard to fight these guys.

I know alot of ISIS and other extremists have been caught . If you check the media abit closley you see arrests made quite frequently in German , Belgium and France

but maaaaan . If Molenbeek is that bad they should have had riot police standing by , army should have had live or atleast rubber bullets . If you are out throwing stones / attacking police or military during a counter terrorism operation you should be a fair target

Im not sure the USA or Israel anti terror would have fucked around like that

There should be raids going on 24/7 now in the EU on anyone that has the slightest mark in the watch list

When the " west " bombs hospitals and civilians its either in a situation where it cant be avoided or it was a accident . The enemy the "west is fighting is a enemy that hides behind civilians , in civilian clothing and targets indiscriminately both military , PMCs and civilians .

Theres a huge difference between a laser guided bomb that hits its target within 1 meter and a 2 bombs in airport in Belgium

Or do you want to go back to carpet bombing targets ? wiping out villages and cities like back in WW2 and Vietnam ?. We have surgical strikes that hit the target and cause minimal damage to civilians . Used against a enemy that mostly targets civilians

Kinda wish we had a time machine to see how some of you guys would act during WW2

After the news that the terrorists were actually European citizens, I am not amazed that the usual suspects make this about religion and cultural conflict. Well of course the priviledged most of the times are unaware of the situation of underpriviledged or they hate them because they fear that they will take their position. The raw truth is that capitalism fails to include many people in society, and according to data even from capitalist-friendly media the gap gets wider. More and more people are excluded from society and many of those that are included are struggling to just hold their position. If you are excluded you may kill yourself of course, but sometimes you will develop hate towards the society and that hate can be cultivated further into something bad or something creative, by religion or revolutionary politics (not that this is a bad thing ). So religion is meaningless for me in this case. Social exclusion of large amounts of people is the subject here, and it is not only about Muslim people. When there was Soviet Union and the revolutionary politics were kind of trend white people were the terrorists (disclaimer: I dont agree with their actions even if I agree totally with their ideals) because they had something to grasp on. Now the only thing people see as revolution is jihad and this, compared with the past is very disheartening. Of course that is something that Muslims and especially uneducated people can relate to more easily.

It was still unclear whether the "nail bombs" were real or not, but a buddy of mine who was in a nearby hospital (for an unrelated issue) saw a lot of victims being rushed in and confirmed the nail thing was definitely real and not a pretty sight.

BUT  Monty- No threads about the terrorists attacks in Turkey??

Even though I hate this type of question and believe its non sense. But for Monty I would say that Turkish people are not white so Monty doesnt care.

i agree with you 100% that this kind of thought is non-sense -

But i noticed this not just with the brussels attack but the Paris attack and prior that the Boka Haram attack happened and that got barley any coverage or social media attention...

Using whatever you can find as "frag" (to create shrapnel) isn't uncommon at all (I have field manuals from the 60s that talk about the concept). Nails, ball bearings (hand grenade frags are smaller than skateboard ball bearings), gravel etc. Explosions themselves aren't really dangerous except for the shockwave (which in most cases is actually fairly small), so you need something to create frag. It's often done by placing the explosives inside of a container (pipe, pot, metal case etc.) or just cover it with as much junk as possible. Secondary frag (ie things close by) also pose a real danger.

We have different priorities

The Paris attack got way more social media attention in the west , then the belgium attacks . But any attack in the west will always get more coverage in the west

Some people were saying the Lebanon didnt get any social media attention at all . But I think you need to check Middle eastern social media to get the same effect .

How many middle eastern instagrams do you follow ? how many middle eastern friends do you have on facebook . Facebook in china and many other places are almost like in its own world .

You also have to look at that if you tell somebody  a bomb killed 50 people in Iraq . Will you really be shocked ? but if you say a bomb went off in New York or stockholm you will be shocked

I would say that this happens because we are used to the mess imperialism brings to "emerging economies" and third world. I mean the more east or south you go the more natural you find it for a country to be shitfest and having bad things happen. I mean Greece? Well they are semi shit they kind of deserve what's happening. Iraq? well they are muslim, muslims are uncivilized so its natural to be killed there. Africa?? Black people uncivilized they even have tribes left they eat each other, its natural. Well it is not natural they are all human beings that are chess pieces sacrificed in the master plan of big economies for domination.  The narrative of cultural, religious and whatever reasons that justify the bad situation in East and South is shit made up by our elites.

So when something bad happens in the most developed nations people cant believe it. It's so not natural. We are the good guys how can this happen to us? Its a tragedy its a war on our civilization. No man it is shit in south, east and in your own country hit the fan and you are getting dirty. Realise that or the worst things are ahead.

When 9/11 happened we cared and the US is less of a neighbour from lets just say Syria or Afghanistan. We are kind of racist because we are taught to be. We dont realise it, but we are. I mean a tragedy in the developed countries is a tragedy, while a tragedy in a third world country is just monday morning for us. Well we are taught to not care about the third world or emerging economies because we rely on their bad-being to preserve the situation in the first world. Or we are taught to justify their bad-being with their culture or religion and proceed in cleansing our consciousness by charity, which obviously doesnt work for them but it works for us. If we wanted to fix their bad-being we would have to undermine our system and that's a conversation that no one is willing to make.

His selective choice of reports? Did anyone else post about any other terrorist attacks lately? This is a major event in European history, while yet another terrorist attack in Turkey or some ISIS slaughtering really isn't. I'm not a fan of Montys refugee stance, but creating this thread was nothing wrong and he didn't connect it to his views, and just because he posted this doesn't mean that he needs to post about every other terrorist attack out there. For fucks sake, it supply and demand. People are less sensitive to attacks in Israel even though they might be sensitive to the people and their cause. Tragic shit happens often in 3rd world countries so it's less impactful and it's just less relatable. It's like skate footy, somethings are super gnarly but lack impact for you because it's not relatable. It feels like everyone in here is in first year college/uni or just trolling.

Its not that kind of job where I have to be social . I just say hi . The first day I spent the day working with one of them we talked about food . Ive always liked Lebanon cause of the flag . And being a chef combined with Bourdains show about Lebanon makes me pretty stoked on that country . Im not visiting until it cools down abit more . Some countries are not worth a food / party trip when its like that

What is my hidden agenda in this thread ?  I have not posed any threads about attacks in Oceania , South or North America , Africa , Asia or Europe ( not counting this one ) Ive made 1 thread about terrorist attacks in Belgium . What is my hidden agenda ?

Why dont you trust me ? why do you need to trust me ? What have I posted that did not turn out to be true ? what links have I posted that were fake ? or from not real sources ?  What have I lied about on slap ?

You are making threats to people in your building on SLAP , How many of them read SLAP ?  why post threats to them here ?

If Im not mistaken you live in one of the ghettos of Sweden , you have mostly "not swedish" neighbours . You dont want to live there cause of the people who live there . You dont think intergration is working in Sweden and think our laws about immegration is bullshit

Yet you dissagree with me that intergration is not working and the cost of taking in all these refugees is not working . Yet you want more refugees and you call me a racist and Nazi

What ??

What Selective reporting ? Ive only made 1 thread about terrorist attacks . About 99.999999% of terrorist threads on slap was not by me . By any "selective posting " it would be evidence I do not post terrorist attacks .

Worldy yes . Open minded and neutral no . Ive said multiple times that I support US / Coalition foreign policies and military action . Im also a supporter of the state of Israel and many (not all) of their current policies and military actions . I also like alot of what Putin is doing with Russia . I didnt really like the whole Ukraine thing though . I also Support NATO . I want Sweden involved in Syria , Iraq , Afghanistan and other places

As for the other things . People ask me questions I give answers . You asked me to go "stare down a arab " . I tell you I work with 2 of them . Somebody called me a Anti Semite . I answer that Ive been to Israel , support Israel and have had a Isrealy GF who was jewish

Should I lie about my real life ?.
