Title: If old videos came out today
Post by: Upgrayedd on August 28, 2016, 08:56:48 PM
If you dont factor in the clothing/ shoe trends, which videos do you think would still stand on their own if they came out today?

I think One Step Beyond could definitely hold its weight still.

Does Fully Flared qualify? I'd say Yeah Right! and any video with Chief skating massive rails.

old aarto and mccrank footy always stands out to me as extra timeless. like if they could swap in modern kits, different music, and release it today people would still be hyped.

menikmati is a kind of good example, moreso mccranks part from yeah right and aarto in sorry

menekmati is fucking perfect.

You could still pass off black cat as a tiltmode/ enjoi video.

Older cliche videos have some really fucked up ledge lines / combos that would still be considered good skateboarding today.

Yup. Cliche Europa (2000), Vincent Bressol - Bs 180 fakie 5-0 fakie flip out, followed by a fakie crooked grind. Heelflip backside tailslide fakie (while seemingly falling asleep), followed by a fakie 5-0 fakie flip.

Aside from some obvious classics (many of which have rightfully already been posted):

Been revisiting Can't Stop recently and I'd be stoked on it if it came out today. Whole thing but man, was Matt Beach on some other shit.

Mosaic. Everything about it.

7 Year Glitch. Always thought Ryan Joynson was miles ahead (the kickflip ender is still fucked) and Kenny Reed will always look amazing on a board. Plus it has Oyola.

Static II. Kenny Reed (see above) and Puleo skating to The Kinks seems timeless.

Still watch that I-Path Summer Preview 2005 vid. Matt Rodriguez/Ocean Howell/all of it.

A Visual Sound looks like stuff people are doing now, filming and everything.

The revolution is still a classic. Jeremy Wray's part is untouchable.
