This is a boring poll
by the way i know some of these are shit..
-
well you have krooked, anti hero, and real and those are the same woodshop and cliche uses the same woodshop as landscape. the ones i just mentioned are all perfect imo
-
Yeh i realise some of them use the same woodshop but they use different shapes..
-
deluxe uses for the most part the same shapes and the cliche i am riding has the same shape as my landscape did and my heroin board
-
I would think landscape don't do big enough orders to have their own shapes but im not sure, that might be true of heroin also... don't know about deluxe i could group them all together?
-
yeah you can group the deluxe ones together. you'd be suprised in how many heroin/landscapes actually get sold. we will get ten in a week because the distrubutor lives 30 minutes away so he brings them up for us so we don't have to pay shipping and they are usually all gone by closing time two days later
-
Thats pretty sick.. i see loads cos im in the UK but i didn't know they sold so well in the states.. I ride landscapes usually
-
my friend colin rides for heroin. everyone and i mean everyone has ahd at least oen of their boards around here. i went to skaters edge and amlmost everyone who knows whats what had either a heroin, true love, or landscape. i have had probably had twelve boards total within the past few months from those three companies
-
i used to be all about girl decks but I just got done skating a real and it was tits
-
i've always like popwar
-
exclusive shapes and concaves cost serious $ so often times the same shape will be used across different companies...but you all know that.
as far as best decks, i'd say any brands out of the chapman woodshop:
zoo
shut
official
cliche
landscape
heroin
-

That is fucking sick the UK companies are getting sold over there - it's been a long struggle for a lot of UK companies to get shit sold in the US
What's the cost of UK boards over there - more or less ?

-
Always been a fan of Alien/Habitat decks. Deluxe has some great stuff too.
-
i recently decided to ride nothing but chinese blanks, purchased off ebay.

*reports to IASC*
-
Ive been riding nothing but DLX for a while now, toss in an Instant Winner here and there and you'll never need to stray from the good shit for a long time
-
funny kayo was not included, they have some of the best wood on the market.
-
Ye sorry i forgot them(kayo).. but they're on there now..
-

that's why i voted other...
-
i usually ride my shops board, but ive bought a few krookeds in the mix which i were both really impressed with. i also bought one of those cliche soccer boards because it was the first of cliche i had seen in canada, it was great, lasted me a long time and had a great shape
-
Always been a fan of Alien/Habitat decks. Deluxe has some great stuff too.
ive been skating alien/habitat decks exclusively for the last 3 or so years (with maybe 1 or 2 other types in there when I couldnt get my hands on one)
-
santa cruz's are so good
-
I don't know about them other companies but my Mariano's feel mighty good right now!
-
this list is missing way too many to be relevant.

same price. they're really all i have been skating for te past year
-
you should have put "cheap shit blanks" up there as a category.
-
the funny thing is there are only like 7 primary woodshops, so most are the same
-
All I ride as of late is Landscape, Heroin, Blueprint, True Love, and Traffic. The dude who owns True Love and the distribution MikeFork is talking about is on Cape Cod, so all his stuff is available to the masses.

james is a rad guy. he's been hooking everyone up with free stuff like its going out of style. you actually made my point about everyone out here riding those boards
-
Yeah, I haven't met him yet, but I am bound too as the shop in my town is the only shop on cape with his stuff. He was here one day, but I was working. Colin Fiske is fully on Heroin now right?
-
I personally like premium...too many people shit on their wood for no reason tough.
I usually mix it up. I've had great boards from Real, Think, 5boro, Girl, Popwar, Cliche, and Blueprint recently. I've liked all of them so much. The blueprint is a little flat for me because I usually ride a lot of concave but it's definitely lasted the longest.
-
5boro

yeah hes been on since live from antartica came out. he has a bunch of stuff in the battle of normandy video and heroin is making a new video so he can have a part or something along those lines. its going to be called magic sticky hand and from what he is saying it should be out within the next two months. you should see the fucking boards he has fos making him they're 8.5x34.something
-
stereo wood has been doin me pretty good
and some bueno in the mix too
but hey i dont know about quality i ride blank decks
-
i ride nothing but dwindle....
-
Still a fan of Black Label wood from PS Stix
Deluxe brands a close second coming from a different woodshop
-
remember goodtimes skateboards
-
ive been riding nothing but manik, local company.
-
mainly cus im manualing and not jumping down 7 stairs
-
remember goodtimes skateboards
Hewitt
Ritcher
Pino
McNatt
-
o.g. in the house right here, i like that
-
nice to see someone say Think..
-
Santa Cruz
-
Popwars wood will be missed.
The droptechs were amazing
-
I go with DLX. RasaLibre used to be Deluxe too right? Are they still/again? I used to love the old rasadecks. But at the moment I ride communist skateboards also known as "blank". Simply cause I didnīt have the money to afford a graphic. two days after I bought it that IASC anti-blank campagn started and I felt so much better riding a blank deck after that. Thanks ISAC, I used to feel bad for going blank, but now, because of your add I feel like itīs just fine...
-
Rasa was Deluxe, not any more.
Really feeling the new Stereo wood.
-

You're feeling anything Stereo. What Stereo deck are you riding these days?
-
Not true. They put out some stinker graphics before and done stuff I'm not too stoked on.
It's a team board.
-
I really recommend that everyone tries a landscape/heroin. The powerlyte's from Santa Cruz are great as well. Blueprints are good, a little flat though for my liking.
-
I pretty much only ride our deep concave shop decks, and they're Chapman. I really like them a lot.
-
i've always like popwar
gotta agree
-
I know zoo isnt well liked here but the boards are done by chapman. that wood is solid.
-
I've been riding DNA products exclusively for a couple of years now. Although the deck I'm riding now has heat transfered graphics on it and it's really bumming me. Shit's just chipping off.
-
habitat hands down
-
Blitz Distrubtion decks have a ton of pop
Tum Yeto are real heavy, but I still like them (Good shape)
And I really like Black Box a lot too
-
Did I already profess my love for mini logo decks? I forget. The K 127 to be exact.
-
krooked or enjoi for me
-
i'm gonna remain loyal to krooked as long as they are in buisness
-
I loved every deluxe board i've had.
-
just to add a question on here.. who doesnt make their boards in china with shitty wood? I know Deluxe and AWS are strictly US as is chapman i think.. what about black box/ tum yeto etc? ( I know dwindle is from china now)
-
real krooked anti hereo western edition city effort and girl
-
I know Black Box makes their boards from Mexican wood.
-
Tum Yeto is American made at Watson.
-
I'm pretty sure Blitz is Canadian. Not 100% sure though.
-
Never mind, their made from American wood.
-
Yeah and I have had some good Zoo boards in the past (ok so the last one was in 96....) but I just can't get into the whole Ecko thing. Love Zered though. Does Pang still have a board or is he strictly TM now?
pang has been of zoo for a while now. he is dc shoes east coast promotions? manager.
-
Rasa was Deluxe, not any more.
Really feeling the new Stereo wood.
Whose doing the new Stereo boards?
-
A wood shop in Oakland, don't remember the name at the moment.
-
I know zoo isnt well liked here but the boards are done by chapman. that wood is solid.
do you know how long they've been with chapman? harold hunter sold me a blank "prototype" last december and told me that they were using new wood, and it would be out spring 06? anyone clarify this?
-
Anti Heros are dank
-
Zoo's been made by Chapman since back in the day. They did ONE run of china logo boards, but almost immediately switched back.
-
dug out!!!
i ride a dgk board 2-3 times a week for 2 months and a half at the moment and it's the best deck i had by far(very good shape/very good wood)
discuss!
-
I've liked Enjoi boards the most lately, I like the shape, and they feel light for my feet for some reason although probably weight the same as all the others. Lasted quite long too since I skate at least 4-5 times per week and it was good for about 2 months.
-
Anything pressed by South Central or Drifter.
Then Kayo, and DLX, and Girl/Chocolate. And Alien/Habitat. They are all good. Just personal preference.
-
ive been riding shop boards, or badnews boards which is a company out of DC that my buddy skates for (i would not recommend, but for $30 i had to try a few.) before the last few cheep decks i had, i was riding a real and it was one of the most memorable decks ive ever had. great shape, great pop.
What are some local/smaller companies you guys support, and how does their wood match up to the major brands?
http://www.badnewsboards.com/ (http://www.badnewsboards.com/)
these were the boards i was riding. not the best shape, but they were strong. had a massive nose, and it was shaped really weird. definitely not comfortable to nollie with at first. and the tails were super short and mellow. worth the $30 i payed for them, but not anything more.
-
I really like Habitat, but they dont press the shapes I like often enough so its hard to get them consecutively. The only deck I've ever had that I considered perfect was a Habitat last summer. I really like the shapes on Girl and Chocolate but the wood is meh, kinda wish they had some deeper concaves too. DLX wood is good but I cant seem to find a shape that I like, the 8.25 feels like an 8 or something and 8.38 feels too wide, I wanna try the 8.12 though which I havent yet.
-
Blvd/traffic, waters and army
-
Just put Dwindle up there, because I'm pretty sure Almost, Blind Cliche, Darkstar and Enjoi plus a few little kid companies are all in there, and they are some of the only boards I ride.
-
Blank decks for life. Yes, I'm a cheap mofo.
-
Ive been riding nothing but DLX for a while now, toss in an Instant Winner here and there and you'll never need to stray from the good shit for a long time
Are they still around? Haven't seen a board from them in forever.
-
(http://www.topsideinc.net/images/cust_deck.jpg)
Surprised no talk of Cedar Wood in here.
-
Roger skates were the best i ve ever ridden. Unfortuanately the local shop stopped bringing them. What distribution is that?
I mostly ride the next best which is jart skateboards.
-

I could go on for days on smaller brands. I have tried samples from almost every woodshop in the industry, and really like Drifter and South Central Mfg. I like flatter concave, but the quality from both manufacturers is awesome. The 8.125 Drifter shape is my favorite right now.
Roger uses PS Stix.
-
I really like Habitat, but they dont press the shapes I like often enough so its hard to get them consecutively.
They use different wood shops apparently which is bullshit really.
For me PS Stix are best so usually Roger or Stereo, after that I'd probably go for a Powell (spray painted obv.), mainly because they do a really long 8 which is my preferred shape.
-
Bought 2 Lib tech boards last month, the grip doesn't stick to the plastihide top but they skate good.
LIB TECH get some!

Doesnt PS Stix do the same thing?

Don't think so, maybe for their price points but if you get a roger deck you always get the same wood/shape whereas with habitat it could be ps stix/bareback or something else.
