Title: Hot Box Magazine
Post by: Mr. Kamikazi on May 23, 2017, 06:21:54 PM
My best friend and I are releasing a physical zine entitled Hot Box, containing interviews that occurred over the last year, next Friday, June 2nd, 2017. We are very excited to announce the people involved, as we attempted to interview skateboarders and musicians that we are into:

John Sharkey III of Dark Blue
Richie Charles of Watery Love
Grant Yansura
Tom Karangelov
Jon Goemann- (cheers to See Trinh who emailed me never seen Goemann photos and sequences)

Please let me know if any people or shops are interested in this, as we are looking to mail some out.

What's the minimum order--10 zines? Also, would you take Venmo or PayPal for payment?

Paypal would be cool and honestly mate, I'll do whatever minimum you want. We just want to get these out there as we spent some major time in between our full-time jobs, a masters degree, and general insanity.

I am working on setting something up. Honestly, we are trying to keep the cost at a minimum, so next week when I have them in hand, I will let you know! PayPal work for you?

Got mine a couple of days ago. Good little zine. Enjoyed the interviews... Especially the Goemann one. Props on getting some bigger names into a small zine like this. Keep it up. I see this going good places.

Thanks a bunch. The feedback means a lot to me. And I am even more thrilled you appreciate the interview with Jon Goemann. He was super nice throughout emailing back and forth, along with asking Seu Trinh to get us unseen photos.

Again, thanks for caring enough to purchase this, and issue two is already in the works with some more heavy hitters.

Probably the last post until Issue Two;

First and foremost, thanks to EVERYONE who ordered. It was quite surprising.

We are down to the last 9 copies out of 100. If anyone would like one, let me know, as I will make sure the SLAP mates are taken care of.

Issue Two should be out by August, in which I will make mention of this once everything is finalized.

Thank you kindly!

Just a heads up; we printed a limited number of the first issue again for anyone that missed it.

Issue Two is coming along as well. Thus far confirmed and completed interviews are with Luke Croker and Austin Stephens. Austin spent almost two hours with us on the phone and is seriously answered all questions to the fullest extent, sometimes even asking us what we thought about things. The other interview(s) are in the works!

In the interim, please have a gander.

Tomorrow is the official release of Issue 2. As mentioned, this will feature interviews with Luke Croker, Johan Stuckey, and Austin Stephens. Other interviews include those of artists from the Philadelphia area that are friends of ours.

These will be up for sale next week sometime and I'll post. Thanks for those that have ordered the first issue. This once was easier and came about much faster. The only issue we ran into was the photos that were sent to us by the three headliners have been used/seen before (which was a tad bit disappointing). Not all of them, but some for sure. Anyway, hope to see some interest in this! Issue Three will be underway soon enough.

Featuring:
Luke Croker
Austin Stephens
Johan Stuckey

Philadelphia artists/friends of ours.

Order away, as I hope some people on here are into the content and what we are doing.

I'm not in my shop over the weekends, but someone came by to drop of some issues of HOTBOX vol. #2 out here in Colorado. So if anyone in Denver wants to swoop one hit us up, we have 4 copies at Crisis Skateboards. After I get off of SLAP for the day and am done paying bills and placing orders, I'll be reading through the zine and holler back. Small World hey.

Tight. That was actually one of my best friends, Jarrett, who moved out there in June. So good to hear. Let me know your thoughts on the content.

Just curious if there is anyone that still wanted a copy of Issue 1 and/or 2. Three is getting done, just so busy with work obligations.

Looking to make a run to the printer to get 1 and 2 reprinted in small quantities.

Let me know!
