Title: First Name Status
Post by: WarmUpZone on January 20, 2018, 03:40:30 PM: The best nicknames thread got me wasting my time thinking:
What skateboarders are we able to refer to only by their first name and know exactly who we are talking about.
Some of these might be more from having a unique name, but other have just owned it through sheer dominance.

When someone mentions Gino, you know they're not referring to Gino Perez. If I write a skaters name down here, and there is no doubt whom I am referring to, I counting it.

These are good. Seems like being kept out of the industry for 5 decades has given the women a smaller name sample size so they have an advantage in this game.

I also think Foy has recently ruined it for The Chief. Satva, PJ, and Karl are all great.

Seems like there is a defined line between unique names (Ishod, Nyjah, Hjalte, Natas) that I haven't really heard anywhere, much less elsewhere in skating, and then there is the skaters whom have just dominated a common name.

Sounds like Pat is out. Channita, Burke, and O'Dell have muddied those waters.

Heath, Dylan, Ricky, Leo, Lance, Kareem, Tyshawn, Christian... all good. I know exactly who your talking about, even if not in a skate context.
If you said "There's Kareem at the grocery store." My first thought is "Oh Shit, Kareem Campbell getting groceries. Try not to fan out." I'd actual be disappointed if it was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

I don't think Mark makes it, probably because 'Gonz' took over.
I also wouldn't put Louie (Lopez, Barletta) or Bobby in there.
Fred is a tough one. I think of Gall, you think of Gall, but I'm still not so sure.

Anyone else naming names?
