Mark Johnson of everything
-
His posts the last few days seemed like they were building up to this or something like it.
-
seems sad, but maybe it's a good thing. Perhaps this is how Stella gets her groove back? MJ as Angela Basset. Good luck!

One of my all time favorites, but man does he ever come across as being a suicidal heap.
Hopefully he pulls himself out of whatever hole he currently resides in.
-
Gotta love Weck.

I noticed that he quickly edited the caption from "Finally done with this shit." to "Finally done with this therapy shit."
-
He edited his caption. He's done with therapy. Seemed kind of quickly considering he recently got on Adidas.
-
He updated the caption saying something like "I'm finally done with this therapy shit...", so I think he saw how it could be taken the wrong way and changed it.
Edit: beat me to it
-
Is he not just talking about physical therapy?
In a post only 2 days ago he said he couldn't wait to skate again and he missed it.
-
Based on the comments it seems like people were OK with the idea of him retiring, maybe that freaked him out and quickly changed it.
-
I just wish the guy well

Jesus Christ get some context people.

Frankly I never liked him, he was ruining skating since well before Fully Flared. I'm glad he's dead.
er wait, did he die?

His original caption didn't say therapy and was more along the lines of "I'm done with this shit!!! Thanks to everyone who has ever bought my board and shoes"
That can be easily misinterpreted.

Ah, fair enough.
-
a tragic.
-
He probably injured himself trying to catch up with all of his progressive ideas :p
nah, but if he does have shit going on I wish him well. I was always a big fan of his skating, even if he is a troubled individual.
-
I'd love to see him on Primitive, as progenitor of tech-gnar and just an oddball industry wise

Haaaaa! & agreed.

I saw it after the caption edit and it came across as more of thanks for supporting me even tho I haven’t done anything. More of a im gonna go for it again. When did slap start to hate him? For years he was god almighty to y’all. We really gotta separate the pseudo-intellectual artist from the art with him.

What a terribly shitty thing to say.

It’s Fat August! His post history reads like a compendium of embarrassingly shitty statements.
-
MJ never got the memo that says he's not a genius. Once he gets around to reading it, I'm sure he'll become a lot more enjoyable. I really like him and his skating, but he's full of himself in a bad way.
-
Dude is from my hometown and I'm a massive hater, mostly due to his internet presence. Regardless, I was unaware he was hurt and most definitely talked shit about his piss poor post Adidas coverage. Marc, we just want to see you skate. We're simple and easily entertained. We don't want to expand our minds. Your job is to ride a skateboard for money. We will do everything we can to support that. Throw us a bone and let's see some sexy arm sways

indeed :-*
-
I love MJ and hope to see him on the board soon.
-
He need some milk
-
hey call me old-fashioned, but i think he would fit well on krooked
-
Just saw he got a box from isle - that would be an interesting fit
-
Losing Carroll's friendship is all that made him so mediocre these days. This is pure resentment.

MJ is one of the best to ever do it.... can understand not liking his personality, but there's no doubt he was eons ahead of his time in Seven Steps to Heaven and he's never put out a sub-par full part.
SLAP is slipping in the 'good taste' department lately

Art beat me to it. C'mon, guys. Say what you will about his off-the-board antics the past few years (arguably fueled by the infamous Mike Carroll interview, for what it's worth), but if MJ can get his act together again, you know he's capable of producing some great footage. And, if not, bummer, but it's not like he doesn't have roughly two decades of high-quality output to look back on.

I've only been watching this place a short time, so lately is all I know.

What Art said. I don't want him to quit, I want him to shut up.

I think he just finished the grueling process of filming for "On your Marc" episode 2.

Just stop reading/watching his interviews.

Is there literally any post in this thread that is speaking ill of Marc's skating??(aside from josphat who was obviously trolling) Marc has been one of my favorite skateboarders for 15+ years now, but his good skating doesn't make him impervious to criticism about his narcissism/pretentious attitude/hypocrisy. People love to pretend that their favorite sk8bortrz are infallible yet 90% of slap is talking shit about the shitty attitudes of good skateboarders.

For all of this dude's shortcomings and nonchalant to spooky weird to try hard shit makes sense. He's a conflicted man who wonder's why this skateboard shit is ever relevant. When you grow up you get some choices and when you make them they come with repercussions. Context is everything fella's your judgment gets real harsh fast and speculation amps up. This guy is just literally a dude who made it in skateboarding and misconstruing shit like things of that nature helps no one or just ends up gossip like a fucking douche who needs to hear about others problems so they can judge and feel superior. He's kooked out more than once, but when was the last time you did?

To be fair the past couple years of MJ have almost entirely been "off-the-board antics". If he's been hurt/had other stuff going on preventing him from skating that's more than fair, but his entire presence within skateboarding lately has been borderline delusional ramblings. I'm a big fan, but it's not like the negative reception is outta nowhere.

I'm glad he's as weird as he is. Every art/sport/whatever has its guy who is brilliantly talented but completely insane and impossible to deal with. He's ours, and we should love him for that.

Just get sober Marc. That's the only thing you need to change.

You guys don't find it the least bit thirsty that he's blogging his misery?
suicide-hinted posts? Who is this guy? Lana Del Rey?
people with real problems that want solutions turn that phone off and get busy.
He needs Francis-Bean Cobain to ride out on him for talking crazy.
I wish I could ask Avery about his experiences with MJ as a father. I have a feeling I wouldn't be surprised about what he had to say.
I'm saying all that to say this: i bet some of you guys still have (for unknown reasons) MJ's A-team ads posted over your beds, 20 years of encrusted semen blasted all over 'em. at this point, you can't even tell if it's a sequence or a still, you're still jacking off to it tonight and tomorrow, yet, you're looking at me like i'm crazy.

your original point was a lot longer than it needed to be and showed an imperfect grasp of the fairly obvious ideas you were claiming to school others with. Also, I basically agreed with it.
If that doesn't sound like MJ to you, then you just aren't familiar with Slap's catty, gay ways. Have a kook on me.

Let's all just forgive Koston too huh? ;)
No one ever has/ ever will deny his skills on 4 wheels and a plank. But like Vallely and a lot of other skaters he just needs to shut up and skate end of story! I've honestly stopped paying attention to MJ these days because after the whole corer than thou but oh wait I just signed to Adidas fiasco he just seems too ridics. Especially if you compare him to someone like Daewon who was in a similar situation but handled it 1000% better. Sucks to hear any skater is hurt but I just wish that he'd understand that people only want to see him skate...

One of the few who can make tricks that sound ugly on paper look incredibly good.
He likes the sound of his own voice a bit too much, but I'll take a MJ who talks too much and produces like 30 minutes of footage over a 9 year run (Yeah Right to Pretty Sweet) over a silent PJ who went 12 years between full parts. Obviously, there is the worst of both of these, and that person is Brad Staba.
