I don't know much about Shawn Hale, but I do think he skates pretty cool. I also think every clip I see of him, includes a clip of him getting really hurt.

No, the gap was 4 feet smaller than the original.
I think they made it like that so that dudes would try to bust over it, the original only had 2 tricks go down and that was because it was fucking huge.
Also they wanted to put coping across the gap, and that would have been ludicrous on the original width.
I'm surprised more people didn't get broke off on that thing.
Kale Sandridge broke his collarbone slipping out on a frontside 50-50 and Willis Kimball rang his bell on a switch backside 50-50, which he was about to make had he not slammed so bad.
There was no padding or protection there and I guess they thought if anybody eats it they're gonna land in sand but I assure you that shit hurts.

He was super consistent and he did a lot of different shit in the finals then he did in the qualifying heat, everyone else pretty much did all the same shit they were doing in the previous runs.
I don't think he fell or even bailed very much either.

They need to have Gonz's choice at every contest. They can save Phelper's choice though.

The fact that he could even ollie a smaller gap on that board he was riding is insane, that thing was a goddamn tank and something you see Vov or Danny Way riding on a mega ramp.
Also like I posted already, they wanted people to get buck and actually try tricks over the gap, nobody was really gonna do anything out of the ordinary over the original size gap plus they wanted coping across it, someone would have most surely gotten seriously fucked up on coping across a 12 foot gap.
