8.38 did a good job splitting the middle of 8.25 to 8.5, but i want to try something a tad bigger. what's everyone's favorites?
from what I see online, I'm leaning Magenta or Polar. i like very mellow shapes with pointier, rather than stubbier nose and tail.
also i'm 6'2", so I usually have more fun/control on a wider wheelbase

Been eyeing this one:

Only issue I had with my last numbers was it was SC wood, thick, dense and heavy feeling (like a Real R1).
I prefer thin/crispy/rigid feeling boards (Bloodwizard/Creature/Almost) and some PStix like Habitats but PSstix is so hit or miss these days.

Just go 8.5.
Fun fact, most 8.38s or 8.4s are actually just 8.5s.

Baker b16 8.475, 31.875 14.2 WB

Anti hero makes 8.4 and 8.5s with - good range of wheel bases. Compared to say Quasi or Weekend they are pretty pointy if you stay away from the FULL shapes. That being said, I went from 8.38 to 8.5 and it was an easy transition. And I’m way shorter than you. WB, length and nose/tail shape (I like more wide/squared) makes a bigger difference overall.

DLX tends to have an 8.4 pop up occasionally between their deck brands.
But as other guys said just get an 8.5.

Polar 8.38 is my favorite shape, but it has an enormous squre nose, so you should probably stay away

8.38” and 8.4” have a 0.5 mm difference. That is basically nothing! If you can notice that, you’re better than Jesus! :o

I switch between 8.38 and 8.5s pretty often, not too bad.

I ride either 8.5 or 8.375 and between those two sizes its not much of a difference imo just the bigger board will be heavier. I can do my flip tricks just as easy with both sizes. When I was younger I used to skate 7.8-8 learning everything I was introduced to 8.5 and Ive never seen a board that big at the time lol I jump straight to that size and even then getting used to it wasnt a big deal. So just get an 8.5 and shred it!
