whats the best single kickflip on record. Bunch of guys got good ones but what one was the one? Not who has the best one, but what kickflip was the best?

Penny on the hip in the pool. Its all magic. the board just stops flipping in mid air before he catches it. the tail stays the same distance away from the ground the whole time. It literally happens in slow motion in real time. Its like the matrix.

i'm curious as to what slap pals think about threads like these. if you just google "slap magazine best kickflip" you get two similar threads right on the first page of results - http://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=69360.0 (http://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=69360.0) and http://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=97858.0 (http://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=97858.0). would you rather see old threads like those get bumped, or would you rather have us revisit the topic in an entirely new thread x amount of years later?

hmm, but actually you were claiming Eli was 10 years late on an abd by Busenitz, when in fact he was doing it switch, let's not be too revisionist here. Slap may be bitchy, but that's what keeps it honest.

i'm also pretty new here, but it would seem to me that if you were actually genuinely curious about the question you asked, you probably would have already conducted some preliminary research online, which would have hopefully directed you to one of the preexisting threads. those old threads are pretty fun to hang out in too! whenever people create new threads that address subjects that seem more likely than not to have already been dealt with, i get the impression that they're just seeking some immediate attention/feedback. if you really, really feel the need to start a new thread on uwtb (hey everybody, answer my question!), at least bring some nuance to it, like, best kickflip down a set of stairs, over a handrail, across a gap, etc. or if you have something new/original to contribute to an old thread, go ahead and bump it. for compendium-type threads such as these, i think of it as adding on to a wikipedia article.

I'll go with two that blew my mind the first time I saw them:
Heath: Big parking lot gap (in Uno I think? He ollies it in The End)
Getz: Love Park
Both were at the upper end of what had been ollied at that point and somehow they managed to FLIP THEIR BOARDS AND CATCH THEM IN MIDAIR AND NOT DIE! Probably doesn't seem like a big deal now but I thought it was amazing back in the day.

I see a lot of people saying Getz's kickflip into the fountain, but I honestly liked Tim O'Connor's into the fountain a little more. That being said he did it after Kerry so I understand that being kind of weird to do the same trick as someone else at the same spot and put it in your part after someone else had it in theirs.

This is my vote.

Followed closely by whichever Heath flip.
Best kickflip on tranny is Penny obviously, take your pick.
I’m in the minority in that Kalis flip is crazy but not my favorite. It’s almost TOO tweaked or something. He could probably win best fakie flip or noseblunt.
I feel Zerred and Lizard King probably deserve nominations. Someone help me remember which ones.
Also Reynolds kickflip in Stay Gold on the set that he frontside flips after. Caught and floated for an unreasonable amount of time.

Lizard has always had a quick flick, but I feel like his overall vibe (maybe not so much now) pushes people away. Zered has the best everything, kickflips included.
I’d also like to add this classic Nuge kickflip from Transworlds ‘Let’s Do This’. For those who haven’t seen, it’s the last trick around the 4:40 mark.

Dylan is my favorite skater of all time, and I feel like he made every trick memorable unlike 99.9% of pros out there. I was just thinking about all the tricks I could picture without video in my head when u brought this up. Here’s a list of the things that stick out.
1. Impossible over the bench
2. Impossible the brick bank
3. Impossible the sand gap to black thing in Oz
4. The kickflip over the bump to bar toward the end of his gravis part(personally I think that’s the best kickflip he ever got on video)
5. switch bs flip on flat in all white
6. fs board down that long as fuck rail
7. Fs flip over the red rail gap
8. Fs flip over the planter in cherry
9. Switch fs 360 flat to flat gap
10. Noseblunt at the beginning of the gravis part
11. Bs heelflip to switch bs heel both over the tables
12. His fakie manual in that park footage he had, which to this day is the dopest fakie manual I’ve ever seen because of the way his non pocket foot acts. Never seen anyone do them that way and make it look good to this day.

Not that anyone asked...I like to categorize good kickflippers into 2 main groups: 1) the strong kick/early flippers and 2) the late, grippy push-thru-the-nose flickers
Christian Maalouf is my favorite of the first group. His front foot leaves the board pretty early and his feet dangle in the air, waiting for the board to come up and meet his back foot.
Levi Brown is the second. The grip he gets on his toe is insane, making for a late, lightning-fast flip and catch. Jordan Trahan, Tom Asta, Rob Welsh...
goddam I love kickflips

Have no clue what it's in a tour video or lakie something but Mike Caroll does a great kick flip over a gap that is similar to the Venice Beach sidewalk ones. Wish I could find it. It's perfect.

It is just too bad he has such a bad attitude. He made going to the local shop miserable for so many people.
I've never seen anyone be so rude to those "below" him while being extra nice to anyone who is "above" him.

I'm too lazy to go through the whole thread, so if it's already been said, my bad... But, Brad Kromer has my favourite kickflip without a doubt.
