Are varial kickflips cool?
https://youtu.be/iRvHW2F7joE
-
They’re Cool when they’re called Varial Kickflips And not Kickflip shuv it’s
-
THATS A NO FROM ME DAWG
THIS POST IS ALSO UNCOOL
THE SERACH FUNCTION ON SLAP IS YOUR FRIEND
-
If you call it a chain wallet it's hella cool
-
Seems like everyone forgets about them once they learn 360 flips.
-
I remember for a long time they were called shitflips in the Kansas City area.
I like them if they've got good style, surprisingly a trick not everyone can pull off despite many thinking it's the intermediate of Kickflip and 360flips, two tricks that are every skatepark kids go-to
-
No but josh wilson’s in the quasi vid is
-
i look at it like a pop shuv, if you can do one proper and control it nicely, its cool.
-
agreed ^
I have a decent varial flip, and will do them without shame
-
The proper name for this trick is Kickflip Shove it. A varial uses one's hand to make the board turn. You don't call a Pop Shove a Pop Varial DO YOU?
The name is not relevant because it's a trick for dirty hippies.
-
they often look shitty, but i think they are fun to do. it's a dilemma. josh wilson ender in mother over the bar was a good one.
-
it's like fakie mongo that it's agreed to be wack but then if someone good does one everyone will jock it.
i skated sans media for a yr or so and i had no idea about 'in tricks' so varial flip was sick because it was 2 tricks.
intrinsically, there's nothing wrong w/ any trick, our favorite pros dictate their value and most of us just repeat what we've heard.
[don't get me wrong, i'm sheep in this regards. i think they're wack but one day i'll be too old to care and i'll start doing them and realize all the time i wasted disliking a trick that was really closely related to a trick i do like , 360 flip and it will be like tearing down the berlin wall.]
-
No. unless you're chima doing them down double sets
-
Depends who does them and how they look.

Throw them out in a game of skate, fucks people up. Those and variel heels.
-
It seems to me that if you're going fast they look good. Everyone always says "they can look good" but the only ones that look shitty to me are when kids are barely rolling and do them.

"Chain Wallet" is a fakie varial flip.

yes
-
Yes.
Especially fakie or nollie over something. But like everyone says, depends on how it's done. That can also be said for any trick, though.
-
yes, they are one of the best

BA and Nate Jones get the thumbs up from me.
-
One of those tricks like switch ollies or fakie shuvits that are lame on flat but cool going up or down something.
-
fakie varials are disgusting to me
who does a good one?

People still debating about the coolness of tricks. If you feel it, it's cool. It's that easy.
-
Carroll did a great nollie one.
-
A big old varial down a big old set, yeah im for it
-
They are easier to learn than kickflips so they are not. Also, any trick I can do is suspect.
-
This one just varies person to person. If you feel like you’re doing a dumb little kid trick you probably should stop. A select few do them well.
-
Cyril just posted one I’m not mad at

there's a game of skate between chris colbourn and antonio durao on youtube somewhere with some nice varials both ways. that's it for me today i'm going to sleep now bye bye guys hope all the americans have a nice evening
-
Varial flips have always been cool, you just can’t be a varial flip “guy” who does/tries them all the time. Then it’s a little much.
A well-executed varial flip should always be a nice little surprise.
-
Depends.
Matt Fields, Carroll, BA, O'connor, Renaud, Gino etc.. made them look good.
Recently Josh Wilson & this Joslin one...

Yes but asking about it is not

If Nate Jones did it
