Title: Best spray paint for boards....
Post by: j....soy..... on August 18, 2018, 08:09:30 AM
Could be my technique but the stuff I used I wish was thinner and slid better....

What's the best?

For Americans, rustoleum 2X works well.

The stuff I get through work is a Dulux two part clear coat, just set up a new board with four coats and it glides like ice

+1 for rustoleum, if youre doing stencils get flat/matte colors. That plutonium paint works too, just pricey.

i like a low pressure montana with a skinny cap.  i have a mild paranoia about too much paint softening the pop on some micro level.  i mist with a clear coat they make as well.  use a mask even if it's just a folded shirt.

if you can't be bothered w fancy paint just make sure your moves are smooth and distance proper  8)

rustoleum

buy a cap adapter and use with rusto or rust double coverage, spreads out the paint output and makes it easier to control.  Could also get all tech and use a skinny cap if thats what you are going for. if you are really worried about thickness im sure ironlak or montana gold would be great for skateboards, but theres no reason to spend $10+ a can for a skateboard.

EDIT: if you are gonna buy expensive paint go for belton

I paint a lot of boards.

That new Montana Black, uh, black, is awesome. Its super high pressure and has a fat tip so it hoses shit down with a kickass solid black. Super deep color. Its my go-to for blacking out decks.

I wanna try that black 2.0 but its not available in spray (yet) and its too thick to airbrush.

Edit:
Deck I painted with the Montana Black black.

Close up so you can see some of the tooth to the paint. its not usually this textured, I just have repainted this deck a few times.

A can I suspect can run through a years worth of decks for me so I don't necessarily mind bucking up....and my handiwork prolly sucks but yah...something that goes on thin is the best for me. Thanks!
