cyrus and palmer were fringe guys at best and seem to be fading out. olson will likely never put out a part again. unless they really push nick stain and vincent they're done for. the gear is getting worse by the drop. aidan got the only good graphics they've done in years and i used to be a fan. this is just not a good sign.

Cyrus and Max are both on the come up, you must be blinded. I haven't bought a 917 board because they don't carry it at my shop but I hope they're making dollars. AO is still very capable of making a video part. I just want to see more Max, he's the best dude out

While I agree, skill alone doesn't sell skateboards in the Instagram era.

First of all LeBron was at his best during his Miami years. His stats and efficiency were not regular because his team wasn't incompetent. Lebron will eventually regress then retire because of older athlete injuries like ever other great ball player.
Street skaters go through this but at a faster rate because jumping and falling on cement wrecks your bones and cartilage. The only pro street skaters better in their mid-to-late 30s instead of their mid-to-late 20s were on heavy drugs -- like Jason Dill or Guy Mariano.

In my opinion, 917 is sick as hell, and I look forward to watching their footage more so than most of the current skate teams. Max and Cyrus are FAR from post peak regression, Nik Stain has one of the most unique and eye pleasing styles out there, and Vincent and Hugo are beyond underrated. Vincent is actually one of my favorite skaters and if you haven’t seen his Spirit Quest part, go check it out. Nolan is dope as hell and we all know how talented and stylish AO is, when he decides he wants to be. Talent wise, Aiden was at the bottom of the pile, and since I’m a little older, his “coolness” is lost on me. But the dude is extremely popular for some reason, and that’s what sells product.

Eh, I disagree. Nike is really pushing Cyrus actually and he put out an amazing part with them after his 917 part. Max is unique and a lot of people’s favorite skater and is actively putting out footage to this day in New York while also making appearances around the world with different crews. For example the Atlantic Drift Hawaii episode and that Taiwan video on freeskatemag.
I don’t think 917 is going anywhere but if it did I think Max and Cyrus would both get picked up by someone.

His 917 part and any appearances in the Johnny Wilson videos/blogs are a great place to get started. He's a very unique talent and sees tricks/spots in a different way without seeming gimmicky or forced.

I think what's going over people's heads is that it doesn't matter how good you are at skateboarding these days. If your name and image can move product (soft goods especially) you're going to be pro. If your Instagram is on point and you are in the right cliques damn whether or not you can do anything other than a fakie manual.

Not going over my head. I get it. But let's face it, if kids weren't told by Supreme that Aidan is cool then no one would know who he is. He'd be another dude at the skatepark who is marginally good.

He's got a cool style and an interesting eye for spots and trick selection at times, but I agree - he's the weakest link on whatever team he's on.
