Who's into punk or hardcore? What punk band from your town is worth checking out?
I'm from NJ and my brother is in a punk band named NIGHT BIRDS that I love, not only because of him or my friends in it.
This is the newest record they put out...

Tankard. It is not punk. It really is thrash metal with a strong beer theme. They are amazing live.

30, grew up on punk and rap but totally disconnected from punk now.
My shit as a teenager was The Unseen, A Global Threat, Casualties (lol), Misfits ,
The Exploited, The Clash, Dead Kennedys
Anything new I should check out?

NOFX, Descendants, Sublime (punk stuff), Minor Threat, Pennywise. I don't really like any of the new punk stuff.

Not a local band however badass dude's with known affiliations with heavy dude's. Grimple, Watch Them Die, and Brainoil. Should be New Mexico and Oakland's best toughest band EVER!!!
Seen them in Nola and Oakland a few times. They're the guy's you don't want to have beef with....... Exbf made t-shirts for them, they were nice except made a passive but very intense don't bootleg our shirts or we'll know and find you, as the singer I think cracked his knuckles.
At a show in Nola the singer did a roundhouse kick to some drunk dickhead who is overtly aggressive towards people have his size. It was definitely surreal seeing a moment like that like holy shit that just happened!!!!

I'll second that anyone reading this check out Grimple, Watch Them Die, and Brainoil. Always a fan of any East Bay Menace releases, Ojorojo and El Dopa 1332 get a mention. But since this is a current band topic my fav is Kicker, The Pathogens a close second

I thought that post that mentioned Sublime and NOFX was joking. Also Night Birds is sick, saw them play in Austin when I was a lil high school punk. Prolly not the kind of punk I’d listen to now, but still a sick band.
Anyway, here’s two of my favorite local bands to come out of south Texas. Both are defunct now but most of the members moved on to other bands, locally and not locally.
Off their demo, this is Porkeria(d-beat)
https://youtu.be/vV8RI39-eyM (https://youtu.be/vV8RI39-eyM)
Born after Porkeria, this is Ataque De Rabia(pogo slam)
https://ataquederabia.bandcamp.com/releases
I love how incestual punk bands can be, because every band that the members moved on to fucking kills.
I’ll name a few that are currently active:
Program(d-beat)
https://programtx.bandcamp.com/album/demo
Exotica(hc punk)
https://exoticapunk.bandcamp.com/album/musique-exotique-01
Pobreza Mental
https://pobrezamental.bandcamp.com/album/ya-no-me-pertenezco-promo
Prolly more but I’m a burnt out punk

that's a big call (what about Kid Dynamite?) but you've got me intrigued, will give it a listen on my lunch break

I like to listen "Green Day". This is my favourite band! I'm fond of listening them in my car:)
-
scummy antifa and anticar punk, with dark and trappy hip hop beats as interludes. these dudes hate cars, but love beer.

these guys sound a bit like rftc or zeke, but they are also a bit standard
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBu0YyruEdw
this might be good if you're into stuff like have heart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRx8bt1NM6E
super old band that's still kicking it. they must be around 60 or older now. it's poppy, but the lyrics, if you understand them, are still punk.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze2pYD8MP54
tbh i only really dig the first band, they are funny, and i actually really like the hip hop beats on there.
this comes all from around hamburg, germany. i feel like if anything there are a lot more black metal and thrash metal bands now than a few years back. also a few of those super apocalyptic and over dramatic post hardcore bands. lots of cool bands broke up or went nowhere.

One of the girls is the guitarist from The Rebel Spell, one of the last artists to put out an EP on G7 (and a really good one at that).
The lead singer died in a climbing accident (Propagandhi covered one of his songs in a tribute comp) and Erin now does this.
Really the best melodic punk I’ve heard in soooo long, and yeah, beyter than Kid Dynamite in my own opinion. Check the first album on Bandcamp too, it’s amazing.

did not know about that one, which is weird because I was pretty sure I had most of G7's back catalog. Will check it out! All I can think of when I think Canadian pop punk though is Painted Thin. Pop Punk would actually be an insult to them though because they were a lot deeper than that. I've actually been thinking about doing a painted thin-themed thread for a while now...

Pretty much everything by the Rebel Spell rips. I was converted after seeing them open for Propagandhi two nights running. By the second night I was singling along to this
