What's so special about being 10? Being 10 fucking sucks. Fuck being 10 years old. Kevin was 8 and he single handedly foiled the wet bandits so I'm not impressed by a front side flip. If you're so little you have to squat wider than your height to fit on the board you should stick to having fun still.

genuine personality, I think you should be specifying. the industry is packed with dudes (and companies) who try to play the 'personality' card but instead of just letting their true selves on skateboards do the talking they just pick whatever they're given to endorse out of a collection of marketable ready-made personas (or maybe it is that a lot of those dudes really don't have truly outstanding personalities in the first place and the industry has to try really hard to make them look interesting). in a way modern professional skating has a lot to do with acting in addition to just being good at skateboarding because most everybody can do whatever on a skateboard nowadays, so in order to stand out a lot of dudes have to try (and are paid) to live up to some kind of specific myth around themselves, which Instagram makes super easy and in the end a lot of the sincerity is taken away. if one wants to watch what I would consider honest skateboarding nowadays the only option is to watch local / underground indie vids, the less ties to the industry the better and many a time that very insulation actually drives people to get very creative, that doesn't necessarily guarantee the quality of the resulting product but it's always a safer bet than a commercial if you're looking for authenticity.

Hate to tell you guys but skating will never go back to what it was. There's these type of kids; the ones who are the antithesis of why we started, for the freedom and aversion to being coached, and now there's the ones who parents control their social media and brand them to become a cardboard cutout. By the time this kid is maybe 20 the lines will be clearly drawn.

I'd come across kids and parents like this when I worked at an indoor park. I saw parents yelling at kids because they were afraid to go down with a trick. The parents were always looking for free shit (even though none of them were poor). They'd even drive out ASR/Agenda to try to sell their children. The parents were super annoying.
However, the absolute kookiest situation I ever saw was Jett and Jagger's Kids That Rip indoor park. The family owned gymnastics facility, added a skatepark, took the kids out of school, hired local dudes to work the park/teach the kids, and forced the kids to do a list of tricks each day before they could go home. Everyday was skateboard practice.

Skate kids are so weird to watch, I can really only fuck with a handful because for most of them it's essentially the same thing as pushing your kid to do football or soccer (usually with the added bonus of child endangerment) and they quit by the time they're 16 even though they're really good because they hat it at that point. The kid comes from a jock family both parents are gymnasts he is too.. Think moms may have been in the olympics... Dad pushes the shit out of him. He is homeschooled and kinda socially awkward.
I've seen him take some crazy slams at Skatelab (RIP) but pops was always there pushing him to keep going.
He has crazy balance and really good on rails for his age .. But this stunt was for that insta fame daddy needs so bad.
