Title: Geoff Rowley Talks About the Staples Center Hubba
Post by: Cool Ceith on June 18, 2019, 10:22:28 AM
He's been filming recently?! Can't wait.

Also: "They were massive. I wouldn't even call them handrails; they were neckrails."  ;D

This one felt anticlimactic.

“I went looking for some big shit.

I found the big shit.

I got one filmer up close and hid another in the bush.

Then I did the big shit.”

The clip is sick, though.

Pretty anticlimatic without the actual footy.

They should do a history clip of this hubba.  Bet it will be pretty short.

I would like to see the commercial they reference too. There's footage of him doing the trick in Sorry but I don't think it's from the same session.

In the Vans animated piece, Rowley mentioned it was one of the first Vans commercials so I thought maybe it was something that they woulda run in a 411 or something. That looks like the outfit he has on in the Sorry footage so I have probably just misunderstood this whole damn thing.

Defs one of his first ads for his upcoming shoe. Crazy to think he did that in vans eras, they must have felt like socks at the time coming off the tail-end of baked potato manga shoes

Didn’t he literally just talk about this for an hour in his nine club episode?

What else has been done on it?

Chad Fernandez did some tricks into it from memory
Did Clive Dixon do crooks?
Dolling looked like he tried kickflip noseslide or lipslide
Did someone do bs 5050?

I’m pretty sure its been noselide by a few people. It’s a really tall hubba for sure. Also kinda like how obsessed Rowley is about Made in America Vans.

Was it Micah Hollinger? I know he did 180 nosegrind and made it look really chill. Feel like I recall him doing something else on it too.

He goes to boardslide but it seems like a weird trick to try so just assumed that he meant to go to noseslide.

I know in this part at 2:44 they built this hubba with the same or similar dimensions as the Staples Hubba. I also think he kickflipped into it from the top.

Sorry, forgot to post the link:

Decided to look it up on YouTube and it was kick flip layback noseslide

He also casually skates it in a line in this part. 180 nosegrind clip follows after it as well.

chad fernandez 50-50'd a replica made of metal and wood. then he went to the real spot, in his 30s no less and 360 flip and [i think, maybe?] nollie flipped into it.
one guy noseslide 270 shove it out but they edited it wierd. maybe he kf noseslide too but they combined the clips.
anyways, a lot has been done but at the same time, not a lot considering.

Found the bs blunt, it’s the last trick:

Edit: Is that hubba on the other side or something? It’s way gnarlier with the fence at the bottom.

Shitty angle

Everyone knows noseslide isn't a real trick. For fuck's sake, I can do them down big shit and I fucking suck.
